Great video! I'd never heard of dura skrim before.
My husband is a painting contractor so we just used clear plastic drop cloths to cover our hoop houses, secured with small squeeze clamps. Two pvc pipes per bed, at opposite corners in an X. But we don't have to worry about it holding up snow.

Oh, yes. Snow, wind, and eagle poop. No kidding! The string-reinforced plastic is nice because if it DOES get a hole, it doesn't tear open. And the UV light doesn't make it brittle. All in a days work, right?

Where do you get the hoops and how when you have it all covered with tule or netting how do you water and get in to harvest?

Hi from Kodiak, Alaska! You can get the PVC pipe from stores that handle plumbing supplies. Easy-peasy. Yes, we keep them up all year. When watering the beds with tulle fabric, you simply unclip the 2-inch black clips and sprinkle with a hose. Rain does come through the fabric. The netting... no need to unclip. Just water straignt through. Does that help?

What size PVC do you use for your hoops? And how tall are the hoops from the soil to the top of the hoop? Thank you!!

Hi Mary, I actually grabbed a tape measure and went outside (it was freezing!) to check. As near as I can tell, and in checking charts online, 1/2 in. x 10 ft. White PVC SCH 40 pipe. 1/2 inch being the inside diameter (ID) and it appears to be 3/4 inches outside diameter. They come in 10-foot lengths. You do NOT want PVC pipe that is much bigger than that or you can't bend by hand. Does that help? I hope!

Great! Let me know how it goes for you. I especially appreciate the hoops when I go out to the garden in late winter/early spring and the soil is nice and fluffy, not frozen like an ice block.

I couldn't find suitable hoops, so I used broadband fibre cables that were left over from an upgrade.

How would you suggest using hoops in an oval shaped galvanized 2x4 bed? I want to be able to use it with netting in spring and frost cloth in winter.

I think you could do a variation with hoops of PVC pipe, cross-crossed ?- might look funny but who cares! 😄
