    Average catapult launch is 2.5 g, and max is 4.5 g. Catapult launch setting depends on factors such as the type of aircraft, and it's load out.

  • @jreyman
    @jreyman 17 дней назад +4

    The aircraft with a disc (radar) on top is an AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System). It's a flying radar station (eye in the sky) supplying data to other aircraft, particularly when obstacles (such as mountains) are in the way, or they are not oriented on said enemy targets. It sees and identifies both, airborne, and ground threats, as well as any other aircraft in the sky.

    Crew on these beasts is 6K+. They are regularly resupplied, while at sea, with food, fuel (for onboard equipment and aircraft), and other supplies. The carrier, itself, is good for at least 20 years, before returning to a shipyard for refueling, and any other retrofits, maintenance, and update modifications. Water is filtered and purified by onboard systems.

    Alright, so to calculate the G force:
    The top speed on takeoff is 165mph or about 270kph. 270,000÷3600 gives us 75 meters per second. We divide that number by the number of seconds spent accelerating (2) which leaves us with an acceleration of 37.5 meters per second squared. The force of gravity is about 9.8 meters per second squared so the takeoff would be about 3.5G.

    • @nerofl89
      @nerofl89 14 дней назад

      In your conversion you are losing around .26 Gs, the answer is ~3.761G. For reference: 165mi/h * 5280 ft/mi * (1/3600) (h/s) = 242 ft/s -> (242 ft/s) / (2 s) = 121 ft/s^2 -> (121 ft/s^2) / (~32.174 [(f/s^2)/G)]) ~= 3.761G.

Anchor chain is measured in shots with one shot being 90 feet. Every 90' on the chain one link is painted red with the first shot marked by one white link to either side of the red link. The second shot, one red link with two white links to either side of the red.

      F-35B to be exact...has a STOVL (Short Take Off Vertical Landing) system like the Harrier did, except the F-35 actually has a massive fan behind the cockpit while the single engine nozzle can pivot down 90 degrees as well. It can take off vertically, however the jet exhaust tends to do a lot of damage to the asphalt and it puts a lot more wear on the fan to provide the initial lift, so they prefer to do short takeoffs.

    • @DiamondPaintWithDiamondDave
      @DiamondPaintWithDiamondDave 13 дней назад

      we never had to ration toilet paper, however, the carrier makes/recycles its own water, so in boot camp they teach you how to shower to conserve water. Get in, get wet, shut off water, soap up, turn on water and rinse, done...repeat steps to wash hair if necessary, however hair is so short that usually can be done in the soap up phase as well...side note: aircraft carrier water can sometimes smell like diesel fuel on the conventionally powered ships due to the water storage/recycling systems are sometimes located right next to the fuel tanks, just separated by a single bulkhead...
