Find it fascinating how much hate people have. It's all subjective and nearly everyone gets their inspirations from other designers. Virgil and Yeezy worked together and Jerry was taken in by Ye. All of these brands are similar because they have all worked together. Amiri is undoubtedly similar to SLP, coincidence or not, but Mike has put his own interpretation and found a gap in the market. Some of his pieces like the bandanna boots are iconic and his drop shoulder sweats are brilliant. His jeans are also a fan favourite. He's done well and congrats to him.
There's something that so especially ingenuine and inauthentic about the brand, it's almost baffling. Let me combine hedi era Saint Laurent and Fear of God with none of the originality, have items be almost double that, and call it my own brand.
Amiri is the more distressed more streetwear version of saint laurent, my dad would wear saint laurent I'm 20 I would wear Amiri. Fear of God however is way to streetwear for me I just find their clothing weird asf, so def. wouldn't wear that. Mike found an easy opening maybe that's true but by finding that opening he presented clothing that wasn't a bit to plain and boring (saint laurent) and wasn't stupid and looking like astronauts (fear of god).
