At salvation we are washed in the blood of Jesus--cleansing us from our sin, but in order to succeed we need to be keepers of the Presence of God. I loved this sermon Pastor Franklin, I believe it was truly inspired by the Lord and is useful for equipping us to grow spiritually. We must continually go through the process of sanctification and seek to know the Lord more, to know and cherish his Word, and to love him (Deut 6:5, Deut 10:12, Deut 11:13, Deut 13:3, Deut 30:6, Joshua 22:5, Mt 22:37, Mark 12:30, Lk 10:27). God commands, "Be holy because I am holy." (Lev 11:44-45, Lev 19:2, 1 Peter 1:16). Make every effort...to be holy (Heb 12:14). Eph 3:10-20 the Armor of God--v14 "...breastplate of righteousness..." 2 Corinthians 6:3-10, esp verse 7 "...with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left". Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled (Mt 5:6). Valuing the Presence of the Lord and taking steps to facilitate fellowship with the Lord is huge, along with valuing and cherishing God's Word as the Psalmist does in Psalm 119. Yes, carrying around the Presence of God takes conscious focused effort and surrender, yet it leads to blessings, grace, provision, strength, protection, and to grace, boldness and rejoicing when persecuted. Keeping God's presence is truly the key to having answered prayer and not grieving the Holy Spirit. Valuing the Presence of the Lord and cherishing and obeying God's Word are vital to our life and as Pastor Franklin says, also vital to helping the next generation to serve and love the Lord. I want the next generation to know the Lord and the main way they will is if we carry the presence of the Lord with us and do not grieve the Holy Spirit (see Eph 4:30). Having a reverent fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Prov 1:7), but if we scorn that wisdom and don't fear the Lord, and grieve the Holy Spirit, then we end up facing a lot of miserable consequences and unanswered prayer (Prov 1:20-33). If we are keepers of His presence and yet we don't respect him enough to serve him joyfully and gladly, then in our Christian life we end up facing major problems and biblical curses. Deut 28 verses 45-47 says "All these curses will come on you. They will pursue you ...because you did not obey the Lord your God and observe the commands and decrees ... Because you did not serve the Lord your God joyfully and gladly in the time of prosperity." Further down in Deut 28, in verse 65 and 66 it says, "65...you will find no repose, no resting place for the sole of your foot. There the Lord will give you an anxious mind, eyes weary with longing, and a despairing heart. 66 You will live in constant suspense, filled with dread both night and day, never sure of your life." Despite the ominous nature of the blessings and curses in Deut 28, there is hope. Deut 30:1-3 says, "When all these blessings and curses I have set before you come on you and you take them to heart...and when you and your children return to the Lord your God and obey him with all your heart and with all your soul according to everything I command you today, then the Lord...will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again..." Deut 30:9-10 says "9 Then the Lord your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your land. The Lord will again delight in you ... 10 if you obey the Lord your God and keep his commands and decrees...and turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul." I pray Pastor Franklin's sermon will motivate and inspire us to be keepers of God's presence, to grow strong in faith, dynamic in good works, powerful and effective in prayer, proficient and timely in speaking forth God's word, courageous in serving the Lord and deeply impacting others through being Keepers of God's presence, producing the Fruit of the Spirit and living lives of godliness with testimonies of faith, joy, forgiveness, and perseverence.
