Watching this years later. Etho's refusal to read things is the best but also the most frustrating part of this series.
Beef kept yelling at Etho to 'knock him down' and 'take him down', so i can understand how Etho thought Beef wanted murder

Don’t shoot trikes in the head as they take 20% damage to the head
You actually deal less damage and torpor to the trikes on their heads, and here's a transcript of the relevant portions to etho shooting with normal arrows.
"i just shot him again anyway, cus, because i'm trying to take him down. He's only level 60, we can totally take this guy!"(beef) "you think?"(etho) "yeah!"(beef) "i don't know about that"(etho) "i put 4 or 5 arrows in him already"(beef) "look it he's running away."(beef) "etho he's running away get, get over here and start shooting him!"(beef) "If he's running away let's let him run away, right?"(etho) "No! we're trying to knock him down, cus we just lost john candy because of you, so let's try, to kill him..."(beef) "I got 6 arrows, that's it."(etho) "that's plenty that's plenty"(beef) "I feel like beef tricked me, he told me to attack this and then he just left."(etho) "how many arrows do you have left?"(beef) "none"(etho) "oh you're done?"(beef) "it's all you bro"(etho) "Ok we're out of here I don't have any more either So!"(beef) "what was the point of that then?"(etho) "we were trying to take him down. were you hitting him with the tranq arrows?"(beef) "no, just normal"(etho) **RAGE ENSUES"* "The point was to knock him out, I said it repeatedly, because we needed to replace john candy, because you murdered john candy"(beef).
Never in here was revenge mentioned, neither was the knock him out, only knock him down. Both etho and beef were wrong.
Seth Kingdedede The reason I think Etho thought "revenge" is because, even though Beef didn't directly say it, he implied it with the "so let's try to kill him" bit. Plus, right before, Beef said (to Pause) "no, no, he's talking about John Candy's murderer." But agreed, they're still both wrong in the end! :P

tbh any time Etho does Team Canada stuff his IQ seems to drop 5-6 points. I've seen him go from pro to bumblingly stupid in various games, maps etc. when he's doing it with them. Never had this issue with OOGE though.
Ergo, here are some tips
1) Regular bow does less damage but more torpor, and Crossbow does more damage but less torpor.
2) if you think you have enough arrows, get more things take a lot more arrows than you think
3) find a ledge you can climb on but the dumb dinosaurs can’t
4) don’t shoot trikes from the head, they actually take less damage and less torpor from headshots.
5) get a flying dinosaur like a pteranodon soon, you need to be level 35 to craft the saddle...
1) is wrong, torpor is directly related to damage.
No, tests done by RUclipsrs such as Sl1pg8r and others prove otherwise... Crossbows do more damage than torpor...
Tranq arrows have a 4.5 dmg to torpidity ratio, regardless of weapon used, for a regular bow that is 20dmg, 90 total torpor, crossbow is 35dmg, 157.5 torpor. The crossbow does more dmg because it has higher base dmg(95) compared to the regular bow(55), but it also does more torpidity. These "tests" are wrong because they probably only looked at the impact dmg, thinking every tranq arrow does the same torpidity (which would be realistic but this is ark).
No, the bow shoots 2x faster than the crossbow, and does 40 torpor on impact, whilst the Crossbow does 70, when spamming the bow, which beef does, and not sure about pause, would be more effective, but if waited the full 5 seconds for the torpor to kick in, the crossbow is a small margin better. But the crossbow takes 7 seconds for its full effects to kick in, but with a bow, it’s only 5.5 seconds, so if you take another shot, which would be 7 seconds it’s 130 compared to 157.5 and the bow does less damage, less likely to kill enemies, also over a long period of time, the bow is more effective. Let’s say you take 77 seconds to knock out a Dino, the crossbow did 1727 torpor, the bow did 1820 torpor, making the bow superior
Impact damage is still the same ratio, 4.5, time to gain torpor is the same, 4 seconds. There is no difference between regular bow and crossbow except for the higher base dmg of crossbow. A 190%dmg bow would be identical to a primitive crossbow (except draw mechanic).
the flashing is a known ragnarok map glitch, just like the way too T H I C C fog. The thing is that for some reason the ragnarok devs don't really care enough to fix it.
also, is your recording key "subtract"? because if it is, you whistled the trike to aggressive if you are playing on default keybinds.

I believe in the patch notes a couple of months ago they made the trikes head better, so head shots don't work as well as before, body shots work the best using tranq arrows on trikes.

Actually, when shooting at the head, the tranq arrows give much more torpor, while at the same time not doing much damage so they don't kill it.

The thing is the headshots doing less damage/torpor is an updated thing since Etho last played, but I agree on the "so many facepalms" statement.

You can tame a low level trike by throwing rocks at it with a slingshot..

Trikes are one of the very few tames that shooting in the head has a negative modifier. For all dinosaurs, rather than shoot at the head always, shoot at whatever spot on the body would be the softest with slight priority on the head.
Getting a crossbow increases the amount of torpor dealt per arrow when taming. Definitely a priority.
When you want to access an inventory, just always use the f key. It's just better overall because there's no chance you turn off whatever you're accessing (say a fireplace).
Whistles ; IS PASSIVE WHISTLE!!! this is very very important, whenever your dinos are doing something stupid, you hit ; and then j which makes all your dinos follow you. (U makes them stay)
ARK can be a very grindy game. If you're finding it takes too much time to make notable progress when gathering resources (such as narcos) change the server's harvest damage and you kill the grind, but still get the fun.
These are the most notable tips I have, I hope you read them.
On another note, love the series, you're my favorite RUclipsr, your original ark series is what got me into ark in the first place and I literally crapped myself with joy when I saw the first ark video. Please keep it up.

Etho. the - on the keyboard sets all nearby tamed dinos to aggressive. If you use that to record try switching either it or the whistle command to a different button.
Etho preserving bins need sparkpowder to work. You can make it in the mortar and pestle
hey Etho I love your videos and the two playlist that i enjoy most are your modded survival and hermit craft vanilla server. After you started hermit quest you stopped doing the vanilla server and you stopped doing modded survival awhile ago I love these series and I think other people would love to see these series too. keep up the awesome videos!!!!

Etho tip for taming Trikes they actually take substantially less torpor when you hit them in the head because they have thick skulls so the arrows can't puncture it as well doing less damage and torpor
To get rid of the flashing you need to turn down 4 watt in your settings

lmao, you guys are freaking hilarious!!! So, you still need to put spark powder in the preserving bin AND the trike takes decreased damage/torpor when shot in the head, aim for the body. gl ;D
Shots to a Trike's head was the best way to tranq/kill but in the later versions the developers added head armor on Trikes head which makes head shots almost useless.
I would suggest Etho read the updated wiki since a lot of things have changed since he last played.
Slingshot, you need a slingshot and a club until you can gather sufficient narco berries and spoiled meat.

I wish they never would have added those stupid thief birds they are a blight and a fun killer.
Ya'know, a slingshot can take down a trike with ease. And when dino's run away, use your fists as it adds torpor too. Save the narcotics for taming. Once you have a trike, narcotics becomes easy as you can farm tons of berries. Also, try and set goals per episode and work together. Instead of 3 people trying to accomplish the same thing independently.

You guys should use slingshots. They add torpor, and i found if you shoot a few (10) torpor arrows and then finish them off with the slingshot, it works pretty good.

I think the top part of the triceratops is only bones, you used about 20 arrows in a area where it's not realy effective hence why it's still up... but I'm no expert might be wrong

Okay, First thing, don't shoot trikes in the face it doesn't do much damage, instead aim for the neck or center of mass (this is only true for a few dinos, most other dinos head shots do most damage, but not for trikes. I'd also recommend putting the "Show floating damage" on in your options (may be up to the server manager to allow this setting.) as it makes the numeric damage you do to a target float in the air MMORPG style. Second, I think the flashing light *MAY* be the gamma keybindings be sure to check that, I could be wrong.

Etho you do more torpor to trikes if you shoot then in the body there head has an armour restince and that matters because the more damage done the more torpor the less the less torpor

I'm confused too. 20 arrows should be enough to take down a Level 20 trike. I've taken down ones like that just using slingshots before.
EDIT: I read more comments and apparently the whole "shooting the head deals more torpor" isn't a thing anymore trikes. Boy this game has changed.
I love how Etho didn't know about Tooltips which is understandable considering it wasn't an option before and they keep giving him crap, however everyone's game knowledge is pretty lacking

Trike are one of the only dinos that head shots are bad. Their head is armoured so you have to shoot them elsewhere.
