I love your simple instructions. I plan to make a large batch of Elderberry juice with herbs & 2 cinnamon sticks, 1 1/2piece of fresh ginger & 1 slice of fresh tumeric, some lemon juice & as it cools I'll add some raw honey to taste. Then I'll make some gummies, I have the larger gummy molds & fir the grown ups I have the jumbo gummy bears that hold 4 tsp. I'm so excited I have everything ready to go for in the motning. 🙆♀️ I have organic pomegranate juice mixed with apple juice with the mother (I also have some concentrated concord grape juice that I need to use up (I bought 2 & I didn't realize how concentrated they are, so I think theyll be a great combination with the Elderberry juice & I'll add comfrey & maybe slippery elm herb with lemon juice & sweeten with Raw honey towards the end as it's cooled a bit. I'll can whst I don't make into gummies 🤭🙆♀️❣ I feel like a young girl again. I use Zen Principle grass fed & grass finished pasture raised, bovine gelatin. I get the 3 lb container, I will buy one more 3lb container so I'll have it for a long while. This is a great recipe. I have tried it twice. I add an extra 1/4 cup of juice and stir gelatin throughly when it’s on the heat.Next time, I’ll try 1/8 tsp of vitamin c powder.
@user-dh9rx5mm7h great question. Boiling would break down the gelatin. That is why it is important to not boil the juice once the gelatin is added. If your gummies firm up then your gelatin is in tact! Check out my other video on making bone broth - another great way improve collagen.
I made some and even with honey in them they grew mold at room temp after about a week. So basically if you left a cup of juice out on the counter it would grow mold just as fast.
I was curious have you tried pureeing the peaches to a liquid I wondered if it would work as well with a puree just then you would not lose the fiber. Thank you for the video have a great day☺
Hello! How long do these last at room temp? I’d like to make homemade gummies and send them out in the mail as gifts. Are these shelf stable? Thank you for the great video! It was very easy to understand. Great information!! 💕
I tried the recipe and yeah, it came out just as jelly - not strong enough to demold without tearing. Definitely not gummy. Strange, as it's a very common ratio of gelatin to juice that I've seen. I will try doubling the amount of gelatin to see what effect that has.
@@preservingtoday Thanks! I did some more with more gelatin and they worked perfectly. Definitely keeping the temps low to not break down the gelatin. Thanks again.
I’m not certain at room temperature, because I always keep mine in the fridge. If your home is very hot, it could affect the texture of the gummy. If your house is a moderate temperature the gummies should stay fresh for several weeks at least.
I have not tried that, cool idea. I don’t use canola oil, citric acid or much sugar at home so it hadn’t crossed my mind. I’ve never made enough that they would last very long because my kids love them so much! I figure they would be fine room temp as long as your house isn’t too hot. There is nothing in them that would spoil or allow bad bacteria to grow (they are too acidic if made with fruit juice). I’m going to make some soon and I will set some aside for an experiment on shelf life. I’ll report back with my findings here. Thanks for your interest and cool ideas. :)
I have never used gelatin sheets before. See if you can find how many sheets are the equivalent of 3 tablespoons of powder and use that much for each 2 cups of juice.
Oh, great idea! Yes, probiotics are heat sensitive. Don’t add them until the mixture is under 120F. So you can add them when it’s still warm, but not hot or simmering. I hope this helps!
@@preservingtoday I tried it and it turned out like Jell-o opps, things that I think was made wrong: 1- I made 4-5 flavors 2-when I added the gelatin to the mixture before coking it, it seemed that it didn’t devolve like yours. 3-The flavor profile was not tasting good. I tried mango, raspberry, cherry (frozen) I tried orange, watermelon, and mixed berries w/ homemade kombucha from the hotel. Non of them were tasty. I just made gummies again yesterday and they were great. If these don’t turn out how you were expecting comment here and I will help you troubleshoot. Good luck!
Make sure to not overheat the liquid with the gelatin in it. If you don’t think the gummies are firm enough you can try adding an additional tablespoon of gelatin. If that doesn’t work maybe try a different brand of gelatin.
@preservingtoday I thought the solution might actually be MORE heat. Until it's not liquid anymore but more of a syrup? If I simmer it till it is this consistency what will happen? I feel like that would more likely produce a gummy texture? Also, everybody says, more-less, to do medium heat, but I think my stove is confusing me a bit. Is "medium heat" suppose to have the flame touching the bottom of the pot?
@@MADDMOODY516 gelatin breaks down when boiled so I wouldn’t simmer or boil it. Just heat until the gelatin powder resolves completely and turn it off. I’m not sure about your stove, but just heat it slowly and low enough that it doesn’t come to a simmer or boil.
My flame doesn't touch the bottom of the pot when on medium heat. But it doesn't matter, what matters is that you stir and watch the liquid and lower the heat before it simmers or boils.
I bet you could get away with adding some oil to a point, too much and things won’t set up. You’d have to experiment, but that would be really cool if you pull it off! I don’t know anything about lecithin and I’ve never used it.
and Im still confused I have 2 pints of liquid I want to geletin I have the powdered one 240 bloom but how much geletin powder needs putting into the liquid I bought this bag of beef geletin 2yrs ago and still too scared to use it cos I dont have a clue
1 pint is equal to 2 cups, so if you have 2 pints that is 4 cups of liquid. Use 3 tablespoons of gelatin PER cup of liquid. So for 2 pints you will use 12 tablespoons of gelatin. Easy! You can do it!
Is your environment very hot? It's best to keep them on the cooler side if possible. You can try again and use an additional tablespoon of gelatin and see if that helps. Also, make sure you never boil the gelatin. I hope that helps.

Thankyou, the details are perfect, but to make a gummy bear like one you'd buy in a shop you'd need at least double the amount of powdered gelatin.

Do I need gummy molds or can I make the gummies cubed shape? Like- a tray, kind of like jello, or would the gummies act more- like jello?
You could totally skip the moulds and just make them in a cookies sheet and cut them to any shape with a knife or even little cookie cutters.
How long this healthy gummy bear will still fresh at room temperature? 6 month? No need preservative?

How do you keep the mixture from getting foamy?
Try not to heat it too fast or hard. You can skim foam off too. I don’t mind it though and just enjoy the cute bubbles on the gummies.
Are these soft, or hard gummies? My granddaughter doesn’t like the hard gummies.
Soft and chewy. At the very end of the video I squish one in my fingers. That might help you see the texture better.

Grass fed beef gelatin. This is Zint brand. Check the description of this video, I think I have a link to the gelatin I used. Thank for watching. :)

So for 2 pints you will use 12 tablespoons of gelatin. Easy! You can do it!
how long do we wait?
Once the gummies have set up and are firm they are ready to eat. Probably about an hour in the fridge. I hope that answers your question.
