- Prepare for the hardest quest in the game by far. If you want to face him on the hardest difficulty legit (without that cheap fortify restoration trick, no potions or poisons, no followers, and no silly sneak attacks) the best advice I can give you is sword in the right and recovery in the left with absolutely no power swings or you will kill yourself. Conjuring is acceptable because it comes from your own Magicka and facing him head on is nearly impossible because he has a ton of HP and "Reflect Blows" meaning you will eventually get overtaken by your own attacks if he hasn't already killed you during this long and hard fight.

The best part is that this dude was no challenge on legendary. Got hit 2 times in the whole fight meanwhile a fucking fire attack of a dragon priest almost one hits me with my daedric armor on legendary max. And 1100 health...

I thought that was always funny. Every npc I come across that claims they're bad ass, I save, then I beat them up just to hear those words. I think it's just automatically put on everyone.

I like the idea that the Ebony Warrior is symbolism for the average player.
"No quest to be undertaken. No villains to be slain. No challenges to face."
When player completes a open world RPG to 100%, it's just finished. The world's greatest monsters have been vanquished, every obtainable quest has been completed in some capacity, and the best gear imaginable has been earned and worn for awesome stats and the best bragging rights of them all.
The Ebony Warrior however, does not want that to just be the end of his adventure, he wants to go, how'd I would put it, "Out with a bang". And what better way to go out then at the hand of Skyrim's greatest legend, the Dragonborn? So the Ebony Warrior does not hesitate to challenge us, nor are we hesitant to fight. And when the duel has ended, things have ended just as the Ebony Warrior would wanted, a finale conclusion to his adventure, along with the reward of peace and since of accomplishment.

Not much of a challenge for the ebony warrior. Why defeat the lesser beings when you’ve defeated the larger foes. Also give someone else a chance to prove themselves.
By everything he must meant clean up the the henchmen of all the powerful beings that the Dragonborn has defeated but some how leveled up faster

John Vacha Actually, considering both his appearence, race as a Redguard, and the lore implications, I think its pretty safe to assume that the Ebony Warrior is an aspect of Reymoon Ebonarm, the Yokudan God of Valor and Combat, sent to test the Dovahkiin.

Hearing NPCs mentioning him and even having him be the one to send the letters are great ideas. I would like to see him appear once and a while during the main story and even Dawnguard

This was the last mision in Skyrim for me. I Killed him in an epic battle. Then... I clear the Sky with a shout, Looked at the stars one last time, and threw myself of the mountain, and closed the game. My favourite game.

Bethesda could've made him like a rival you first meet at the beginning of the game, he is like your character, weak, fragile, and has crappy armor, he should start with just a simple name and weak weapons, but as you progess through the story and levels, he occasionally, finds you and challenges you to a duel, maybe about every 10 xp levels, he also changes his armor, weapons, and tactics to make him less repetitive, then once you reach 80, you see his name as ebony warrior and he challenges you a final duel to the death

IamCaptainMan Either someone had to play trick on him or he really believed it's possible for a Redguard to enter Sovngarde just by living and acting like true Nords do. Anyway as we seen by ourselves Sovngarde is full of nords and nords alone so poor bastard ended up quite dissapointed. In my case he ended up in Soul Cairn thats for sure :D

Only atmorans and nords are allowed entrance to sovnegarde but if you do look on the wiki it does state that there are some exceptions to this rule but that just might only be for the dragonborn

Imagine if, during the fight, the Ebony Warrior tells a hauntingly familiar story to you, and he's so tough that he doesn't grunt or yell when you hit him, regardless of how powerful your attack is; he just keeps talking.
"I used to be an adventurer, like you... until I did everything this world has to offer. I overcame the toughest of foes, mastered all possible trade skills, and defeated the mightiest of dragons. I found all of the words of power, became the leader of all of this world's organizations, and forged the most powerful, enchanted equipment the world has ever seen. I've seen every inch of this world... I've been to every dark corner, and every towering city. I've seen it all. I've done it all. And so have you, haven't you?
My journey is over. I wish to be sent to Sovngarde by falling to a worthy opponent... and perhaps you do, too. Maybe you should look around for someone you can manipulate, call in the favors from all those Daedra, and use your friends in high places to put together a scenario for that youngling. If you do it well, that young warrior will one day grow strong enough to defeat you, so that you may celebrate forever with the rest of us in Sovngarde.

His defense is manipulated so that he cannot be killed before he finishes his story. He also does not yield, and does not utter the standardized "You picked a bad day to get lost!" enemy dialogue. When you deal the final blow, he has one last thing to say as he bleeds out on his knees...
"Finally... it's over. Thank you, Dragonborn. I hope to see you one day in Sovngarde. I'll even brew my family's special mead recipe, for you..."
And then he dies.

When I fought the Ebony Warrior. I ran throughout the map of skyrim and up the throat of the world with him chasing me like an angry dog. Then I stopped at High Hrothgar and shouted him off the cliff. Good times XD

If you fight him melee straight up, make sure you've got a very high-damage weapon and lots of frost resistance. That frost cloak of his will mess you up quicker than him hitting you.
And if you're an archer, don't aim for his head. he's the tallest NPC in the game, but the devs didn't adjust the hitbox on him. Shots to his head will pass through without hitting him. Aim for chest.
Pretty sure Tsun, the guy who guards the halls of Sovngarde, is the tallest

To clarify: "The Ebony Warrior is much taller than any normal NPCs, including Altmer. The only NPC that can match his height is Tsun of Sovngarde. The Ebony Warrior stands at a scale of 1.21 and Tsun at a scale of 1.34 in comparison to the Dragonborn, who stands at a scale of 0.95-1.08, depending on race and gender."

I have a theory about The Ebony Warrior. ( TL;DR - The Ebony Warrior is us from Daggerfall.)
Ebonarm is a god, rising from Hammerfell. If you take The Ebony Warrior's helmet off, you can see he is a Redguard, but wants to go to Sovengarde, and only Nords typically believe in this Heaven-like plane of existence. This is a strangely specific choice, as Ebonarm was a Redguard as well.
That's not all. There is nothing about The Ebony Warrior in games other than Daggerfall. The Ebony Warrior can also shout, and he is just extremely special.
Ebonarm is a deceased god, lost in the voids of Oblivion. Notice then 'Ebon' in Ebonarm's name? Ebony. The Ebony Warrior. Now, since The Ebony Warrior is special, we can assume that he is us, but he is us when we played Daggerfall.
Some more proof of this is that there is no evidence that your character from Morrowind, Oblivion, or Skyrim exists in any further games. You would think, the legendary man who closed the gates of Oblivion, saved the province of Morrowind, and slays dragons for a living as the old scrolls for told would be at least mentioned in one of the game's books. But no. The Ebony Warrior is a legend as well, but there is no other evidence of him existing.
The Ebony Warrior is fully maxed out, and if you played Daggerfall, you probably played until you got super overpowered, too.
He wishes to die honorably, which most of us wanted our character from Daggerfall to die in that way. He says, and I quote,
"Young warrior, I have done everything there has to be done. You have a path ahead of you. Let us fight, so I can die honorably and rest in Sovengarde."
That should be enough proof, right? Well, that's my theory. I truly believe in this theory. Leave a reply telling me what you think.

Out of the top of my head, the Hero of Kvatch became the new Sheogorath after the events of the Shivering Isles DLC in Oblivion (there are actually some subtle references to Olbivion in the quest for the Wabbajack in Skyrim), and the Nerevarine being immortal and all, had gone on a excursion to Akavir by the time Oblivion began and didn't ever come back.
Daggerfall is referenced in later games in a book titled The Warp in the West.

Okay, I know this is just a game. But if he has taken every quests, assuming only inside from Skyrim and made it up to lv 80 (perhaps more) why does Ebony Warrior's name never been spoken by other NPCs/civilians? I mean, if the developers want to have a rival, that is so strong that has finished every quests and enemies, the devs should make this Ebony Warrior's name well known, like the Dragonborn, at least once in the gameplay. Again, I know they made this warrior for the sake of "final boss/challenge" for the players, but they should have make it more like I stated.

When I fought him first time ever I had so much damage in my powerattacks (dragonbone greatsword) that his level 100 heavy armor perk caused me to oneshot myself... That confused me a lot at first xD
Yeah there is a way to counter the perk you need 900 defence which equals 90% defence in total which is sort of the cap, make sure to use healing potions that restore hp to full use the dupe glitch to make many ultimate healing potions

Defence is based on percentage theres a whole massive math system on how the defence system works. Every game in the end comes down to a percentage system within the games code or otherwise it would be the messiest defense system ever. And what's this about a movie exactly? This is how my fight went down (legendary difficulty). I kicked it off with unrelenting force, dual cast ebonyflesh, frost cloak, and conjured two storm atronachs to keep him distracted from me, then casted dual incineration and thunderbolt at him. And use dragonbone war axe with grand healing only when he comes at me after killing my atronachs until I am able to fus ro dah him again (Taking care to make sure I'm facing him toward toward the cliff edge so he can't shout me to my death), then reconjured my atronachs. The cycle repeated several times, until I was able to shout him near the edge of the cliff. I killed him in such a perfect cinematic moment with my incineration and thunderbolt combo with the kill move and he said "At last.. Sovngarde!" as he was launched far off the cliff.

It can go over 567 but it wont decrease damage any further. Anything over that has the same amount of damage reduction as 567.

The Ebony Warrior reminds me of Pokemon Trainer Red from Gold and Silver versions... as in, he's a very powerful individual who challenges you to a final battle, waiting for you on top of a mountain.

is it me or does alduin seem like not so much of a foe anymore. scratch that, i thought alduin was fucking weak for a guy who'e meant to be the main antagonist of the game, even playing for the first time there wasn't really that much of a challenge to fighting him, i had more trouble against common enemies at some points tbh

I don't know... I used to think that as well, but one time I went against Alduin at the very end (last story, I done all the rest), my character was around level 138 with 300 damage swords.. Because Alduin scales with you, I fought a 138 I guess and it was actually difficult. It took a long time to bring his health down.
Not lying, I killed Alduin while at level 11, I didn't even cheat
Alduin scales with you so ya he is level 11 that's why its not dat hard but if you are level 80+ it will be hard

I just beat him on Legendary recently. It took me FOREVER to get to lvl 81. Best fight in the entire game by far.
Ultimately I decided not to fight him, for three reasons
1- He's too hard.
2- He's too awesome and cool to kill. I mean, just fucking look at him!
3- In my head canon, he's my long lost brother.
I live and let live. At this point in the game, I've retired from fighting. Now I just make jewellry and potions, sell them, look after my kids, abuse my housecarl, and take half my husband's money.

The Arbiter / Thel 'Vadam Yeah but I never use the dark brotherhood gloves because everything dies to sneak attacks without them. I find it's better just to have extra armor for when I can't sneak.

Woudnt it be cool if the Ebony Warrior teamed up with Harkon, became a vampire and both tried to kill you while when the final battle between the last Dovahkiin, the Ebony Warrior, and Harkon comes up, Meanwhile in Apocrypha Hermaous Mora revives Miraak from the dead and is told to assist the last Dragonborn in the battle of the era. And the reason Hermaous would assist the Dragonborn is since he truly did prove his worth to him goin up against Miraak. So it could be the clash of the first and last Dovahkiin, vs Volkihar's king and the Ebony Warrior himself turned undead. I would name the quest "the battle of Nirn"

@@boomboom12386 exactly, Harkon would trick the Ebony Warrior and revoke the Warriors vampiric abilities and kill him. Tho taking his powers is not the trick Harkon would kill the the warrior with a soul trap. So instead of Sovangarde he would be put into servitude in the Soul Cairn so Harkon could use him as an unkillable slave

Ebony warrior should have been treated as the "other hero". Which is why they should have had the Black Horse Carrier in the game (it was a newspaper that updated based on your quests in Onlivion). Also, maybe he could be rumored about or see clues of him in dungeons. Every place I go to in Skyrim is filled with treasure. It makes me feel as if I am the only adventurer in the game

I've never actually seen anybody beat the Ebony Warrior without summons. Yes it is a part of the game but it just doesn't feel right ya known. He takes on so many Daedra and Dragon and cultists and spiders and still takes forever to defeat. He's really powerful
I respect him but for some reason he can be staggered by the dual cast destruction spells. He hit me twice in the whole fight

I get it. I mainly defeated the Ebony Warrior using the shield run perk to knock him off balance. I still kind’ve feel bad about it, but he does have the ability to survive being Fus Ro Dahed off a mountain and survive, and he constantly reminded me that I couldn’t...

Fighting him on legendary is fun as shit as well as the toughest challenge I ever faced in that game. He made fighting the ghost of the ice giant feel like child's play. Also may his poor soul rest in peace in the Soul Cairn.... My bad bro 😬
They couldn't have given the ebony warrior a gayer voice! They should have given him the voice of Nazeem from the Dark Brotherhood. Then it wouldn't have been as much a surprise once you unmask him to realize that he was a 7 foot tall black guy.
