Birth story: 100% a-hole. op has no right to give his opinion, child birth is absolutely horrible. I have not experienced myself but from what I know and learned from research from health classes. It is absolutely horrible amount of pain and who cares about sister-hood?! Op is a guy who will never have to deal with the labor pain and birthing pain, and he needs to suck it up. Not his choice, and it's good the doctor dismissed his opinion. And him claiming they would be sharing the experience?? Not you won't! You are just being there and not being forced through extrucating pain she has to deal with it for hours!
