As i’m about to go on a spiritual journey for 6 months in Guatemala, i feel that by stepping onto the plane in 2 days, i will be leaving part of my old self behind. I’ve never traveled solo before, but i feel confident that this trip will change everything for me. No more of my own BS, limiting beliefs, etc. Time to shift my reality, my purposeless, unsatisfying life. I’m changing myself, taking the leap of faith and trusting i’m doing the greatest move ever!! I just want to say this because it's a trap that I've fallen into. But sometimes a limiting identity or belief can also take the shape of "I'm not good enough to do what I want to do." And when people try to change they get depressed because that belief keeps attacking them and causing them to doubt all of the potential and strength that they ALREADY HAVE and is just WAITING for them to take action. They doubt the truly powerful parts of themselves instead of realizing that the fear and anxiety is the only thing holding them back. It really is true that your belief creates your reality. Ive been so much better to myself recently and my vibes are higher than they have been in a long time! It sounds cliche of me, but just like you said, you create your own reality. I'd suggest a deeper understanding of how to actually let go. Our brains have developed & strengthened neural connections for every preference (like food) or habits (like watching TV) we have in our every day lives. In order to change who we are, it will be a process of denying our bad habits 1 step at a time. The more you resist the bad habits, you weaken the neurological pathways in which they exist. Then eventually, they weaken so much, resisting isn't hard. Eventually, you don't have to resist because you've pruned away the neurological connection that made you want to do it in the first place. I'd also suggest looking up Dr. Huberman's take on the Anterior Midcingulate Cortex (AMCC), where science has found is the seat of your discipline & willpower. The more you resist negative pulls (like eating bad food) or pushing yourself to do the positive thing you don't really want to do (like doing 5 more pushups), you strengthen your AMCC.
