Having kids would push many of us from middle class to working poor, no thank you
💥💯💥💯💥
Already there without the kids!
Barley affording rent and asking for me to have children that doesn't seem responsible...
Do you think thats an accident? If it weren't for literally millions of immigrants and thousands of homes being taken off the rental market as holiday homes, would rent be so expensive?
They flooded it because goverments dont want a housing/market crash
Australia depends alot highly inflated assets.
my thoughts anyways.
@@morganoox3838Australia has a population growth Ponzi scheme. If the birth rate is low, the government turns to immigration.
People on the aged pension didn’t pay enough taxes when they were working to cover their cost to government during retirement.
To solve this issue, the government imports additional workers so the government can collect additional tax revenue (eg income tax, GST, Payroll tax, etc…).
The government knows most citizens want immigration cut. The catch is citizens want to have their cake and eat it too. Citizens don’t want to:
* pay more taxes
* see large government spending cuts
* increase the retirement age
* increase the pension asset tests and remove exemptions on the family home
This forces governments to choose between unpopular options.
While immigration is the main contributor to the increase in demand, there are other contributing factors…
During Covid, some people decided to take additional rooms (eg for home offices and hobbies). As this flowed through the market it reduced available rooms.
Some converted long term rentals into short term rentals eg AirBnB.
AirBnB also does have some good. Some people rent their places while on holiday or work travel. This adds to supply.
Solving this housing crisis will need multiple actions to address multiple causes.
Well said.
@@adiintel1Also because it’s a massive tax cow for the federal and state governments i.e more people paying income tax, GST, stamp duty ect … Lower immigration would mean that they would have to rethink the tax system, social benefits, and so on. But this means politicians would actually have to work for once, which is something that they are strongly opposed to.
No one can afford it - the country is going backwards
People can barely afford rent let alone a mortgage. And the government is surprised the birth rate is dropping off a cliff?
Yeah! I wonder why we don't have babies 😂
I’m 35 still single and unmarried with no kids
Child free good syuff
Best way to live
Same boat. Get a skill you can market online (if you haven't already) and leave Australia man, only gonna get worse.
Smart! 42 single, childfree. Yes, am stressed but relieved I don't have others happiness depending on me ❤
People can't afford kids. I know, I have one!!! My best friend just turned 40 and is doing better financially than I. She said there was NO WAY she was having kids. I live with my Mum and we just scrimp by but we absolutely go without. The government is insane expecting us to have kids when there is no housing security.
😢 sending love ❤️
On the bright side if you’re not born you don’t have to die.
Or need anything 😊
"No one here gets out alive!"
And yet for some reason the there is a housing crisis because of 125000 new arrivals in January alone, on track for a million a year, with no additional homes for them.
Clare O Neil and Andrew Giles have destroyed Australia with mass migration.. They can breed, they want locals in tents. Write to them, they simply MUST be removed from public office due to treason
It's more than the housing affordability cost of living .... It's loss of habitat.
Awsome point ,serious loss of habitat👍
habitate or also loss of maternal and paternal instinct
Loss of hope
No surprise
Cost of living etc
Yeah! Don't need to be an hoity toity politician/ economist to figure that out!😂❤
This is only scratching the surface, many millennials don't see the neccessity of having babies especially during a cost of living crisis. An average of 14K for a baby a year, no thanks. The Huggies alone will set you back at least a grand.
I have a LRGE FAMILY age 1-13yrs old I truely cant see how a baby can be 14k a year? reusable nappies, breastfeeding and home foods, the expensive years 14+ they will have to work for many of their own Wants
to financially accomodate we bought a house where we didn't want to live, and I live very very simply so they can have the extras
@livebygodscommands7613 about 500k to the age of 18 in today's money. Don't believe me? Look it up.
@livebygodscommands7613 Yep, that's how we raised ours, you certainly don't have to spend that much per year.
@@livebygodscommands7613 CANSTAR states that it'll cost up to 10K with the the added 4K for hospital visits and medical expenses during pregnancy and after birth. However I concede you are right that their are other circumstances that affect the overall cost of raising a child.
The brands you buy, whether you buy formula or disposable nappies, if you pay for daycare, if you have the birth in a private hospital, if you make baby food yourself or just buy it from the supermarket. Are all examples of these kinds of variables.
However, while you can make it cheaper it still is quite expensive for someone in their mid 20s.
Works for you but not everyone’s idea of a great time and living life.
My gen Millennial can't afford kids without becoming the new working poor and most can barely afford them selves.
Who can afford it???
The rich 😆

@@allyhyde-nawell2909 stating the facts 😆
The wealthy 😂
Whoever is annoyed about immigration numbers... here's why.
Immigration is WHY we're not having kids. There is no housing for the immigrants when they come and no housing for us. It's too expensive to have children, as someone else mentioned, it's irresponsible for us to have kids atm with all the financial/housing insecurity.
I would’ve had more but ended up with birth trauma from having my first and cannot go through that ever again.
I completely understand birth trauma it happened with my first baby I am sorry that happened to you, it took until my son was 11 or 12 to be strong enough to talk about it without falling apart. but I was also always set on having two all my life, and I absolutely wanted another baby because I really loved it, but the childbirth thought made me ill so when I fell pregnant again, i found a private ob. every appointments was almost souly on the birth and speaking of my fears, on repeat and lots of anxiety around it.The only thing that I could hold on to was the reward at the end of getting to have another child in my life. He was an amazing ob and I was completely heard, I felt me and my baby were safe under his care the birth was so healing and I shock myself the fact I went on to have many more children but I do understand not everyone is in the position to physically or mentally have more after birth trauma prayers fr u
Cheap immigrants instead of robots until Australia is another third world country
Yup that's the plan bro
Our bottom of the toilet birth rates is why immigrants are needed. Unfortunately most women can only have children when they can afford it and after living their "best life" but when they are finally ready, most come to find out their eggs are fried. 😢
Then have babies!
@@user-lh5kn8tv4f Oh cry harder LOLOLOLOL
I'm one and done. I wasn't going to have any. I adore him and wouldn't change a thing but we are comfortable (touch wood) and wouldn't be with two
People want children! It just doesn't make sense financially or practically in day to day life ...
I agreed 👍
1.1m to raise two kids, geez mine must be doing without then, nothing like that for me.
Dr Shanna Swan's Book "Count Down: How Our Modern World Is Threatening Sperm Counts, Altering Male and Female Reproductive Development, and Imperiling the Future of the Human Race." In the book, she explores the hypothesis that exposure to certain chemicals, particularly endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), may be contributing to declining sperm counts and other reproductive issues in humans. She suggests that exposure to these chemicals, such as phthalates and bisphenol A (BPA), may interfere with hormone signaling and reproductive development.
The only people who should even consider having kids are those who are rich without risk from blue collar or white collar job loss as automation ramps up and becomes far more cost effective.
If you have passive income and own your own business against this risk, alongside enough growth potential for the future, you are the only type of person who should even be considering having kids as theirs no long-term future in place for those future generations otherwise.
To want to have kids with how quickly technology is improving in a Capitalistic system is very short-sighted, it's not at all about the kids future, and theirs no benefit to having children in a cost of living crisis and housing crisis.
I'm honestly shocked how much people even consider having kids still despite the risks and inflation going against the working class.
So true 😢❤
House to expensive for new family . Old rich people have 4 home As an investment. Increase house prices
Have paid maternity leave up to 2 years paid, free primary and tertiary education and subsidised housing and subsidised maternity/child health care and it might do australia wonders

@@petrastephenson7003 umm the cute ai nurse robots of course
Im guessing taxpayers account for the ability for governments to subsidise??
Daddy government and sugar daddies gonna be propping the economy up. 😂
Most cannot afford a cat or dog.
So we shouldn't be afraid of robots taking our jobs cause we will need them.
That’s an interesting video!
Comments clearly reflect that cost of living crisis is impacting everyone and easy target is immigration. I wonder once we close the gates, whom will we blame as immigration is 10% of the problem.
How is immigration only* 10% of the problem?
Record high immigration, house prices and rents, record low fertility
Way to many children suffering already.
Watch your alcohol consumption around them, gents. There are way too many single moms out there now.

Make child care free
No such thing as free.
Low wage industry, can't make a living as a childcare worker
Tax all the people with children only to pay for child care, and that's completely fair.
So levy taxes on an already financially strained population so as to fund childcare care to elevate financial stress on said population? 🤔🤔🤔 brainlet idea
If you wrote, “make child care tax funded” (instead of free), I would have hit the thumbs up button.
Trend in Godless or lukewarm societies.
What about the COL?
Government schools free recess, lunch, complete uniform, excursions $400 child p.y, Private schools subsidized 10%.
What taxes would you like to fund this?

Or, stack your bread here, and move overseas and have children there in a less secular country with debt free women ready to have children early.
Bread, fairytales, bread
U mean breed overseas because Australia is so religious.Yeah World renowned for turning up every Sunday. Church's that's that building with an x on it.Your building that round roof one?
All good just human traffic more people in
Check with any country with a housing crisis, then drill down to the cause of said housing crisis. You'll see a common theme.
Well, the majority of the population had enough of the current financial and social struggles. Who wants to bring a child into this world. I don't. Good on those who do ❤❤❤
Children = luxury
As well as the TFR we need to publish a figure on is "are people as many children that they want to."
When my kids arrive on this Earth, i will have a large backyard for them to play in.
No thanks! Not in this unfair world. Lack of affordable housing, education and health. No thanks. I am the grand finale😂
It means us Kiwi's are moving over to work 🎉
All by design 😉
Less is more. Low fertility rate = Higher income and productivity!
Apparently mine swim fine 6 kids, happy to share the seed 😂
So ironic coming from the project 😆
I wonder why that is?
