In March 2021, we invited our community to send us stories of vintage Oris watches that needed restoring. We said we’d restore one winner here at our factory in Hölstein.
The winner was Kees, whose son Robbert-Jan nominated the classic Oris watch he’d advised his father to buy more than a quarter of a century ago.

Il y a une bonne quinzaine d'années j'ai eu la chance de pouvoir acquérir ce même modèle soldé au tiers du prix (!) dans un petit magasin d'horlogerie d'une station touristique de montagne.
Lorsque je me suis intéressé à l'acheter le propriétaire de la boutique m'a dit "vous, on voit que vous êtes un connaisseur".
S'il est vrai que j'ai peu porté cette montre (j'attends toujours que "la mode" fasse que l'on revienne à des montres d'un diamètre plus petit) je la remonte et la porte quelques fois par année puis je la range précieusement dans son étui. Elle est à l'état du neuf. Je ne m'en séparerai jamais car je l'aime énormément, son look est absolument magnifique et elle est très précise.

Have you got a vintage Oris that needs restoring?
I just recently got my Oris back from my watchmaker. Restored. I took great care of the watch, but of course, just like me, it was still marked by life. The joy was immense when I saw it back in tip-top shape.

Where would I send my Oris automatic to get serviced & how much would a service cost?
It runs perfect because it's an Oris, but, one day IF it needs servicing I would like to know. Thank you?
Please bring this model back with the sub second hand, I'm debating buying it used and have it restored but I'd prefer buying it new

Stunning watch, and sublime care by Oris to bring the piece to its full glory. I like watches that show the scars of use, that have stories to tell, but it is great to see such a beautiful piece being treated with respect.

How did you clean the dial and hands? Or were they replaced?
Depending on the condition, such as rust etc. Whenever possible, it is cleaned with toping up on Superluminova coating.

Never seen the point of those exhibition watch backs, as lots of watches have them?.
Is that crown gold plated, or solid gold? Wondering if it was re-plated or just polished.
This is a plated crown. Often than not, crown are replace due to degradation of stem quality.

La esfera muestra unos signos de desgaste que pone en duda la calidad de la pieza de hecho yo tengo el que es similar con el calendario a las 6 de los 99 y las saetas están deterioradas y tengo otras casas como seiko omega tissot vintage vintage de los 70 y no tienen deterioro ni en esfera ni diales ni calibre oris se pasa con los precios actuales y sus piezas no son mejores en nada a hamilton o otras casas incluso veo mejor comtruccion en glycine
