Is she a scientist? Does she preform experimentation on hypothesis of cause and effect relationships from naturally occurring observable phenomena (called the scientific method) because that is what Natural Science requires by definition. Pseudoscience is the claim of science when the scientific method has not been used. It is not permissible in science to make any claim of a cause and effect relationship that has not been put through the method. You would be surprised at the amount of people who are labeled scientists that have never used the scientific method in their careers. Those people are not scientists anymore than theoretical physicist are not scientists because they don't use the scientific method either.
It looks like she's Not a scientist at all She is called Dr because she has a PhD in Journalism. I cannot find any formal education in science or physics even though she used her PhD in Journalism degree to write for many "science" related companies. I just read the full bio on her from ecommercetest2 called "The Multifaceted Career Of Dr. Ann Jones". - So she is a Paid Science Communicator - but has No training in physics or Natural Science. No one would have an issue with the ABC if they just abolished their news media arm. Think of all the funds that would become available for producing quality science, lifestyle, kids, comedy, and drama output then too, instead of just producing divisive ideologue driven propaganda that diminishes the country.

Dr. Ann Jones has made her way - all the way - to Germany. I just love to watch these little films. Not only because they are informative, but also because of her humor, her laugh, her enthusiastic dedication to animals - and of course of the Aussi accent. Just have to love her!
I was fascinated by this expression too. Had to look it up and learn its origin. I thought it would be something related to "carcasses", but nope, apparently it refers to the cawing of crows. I, a Yank, might have to start using this one in casual conversation.
When the wood frog thaws out does it retain any knowledge or memory from before being frozen? Or is it a blank slate surviving on the same instinct as a new frog?
as an ecologist i didnt think i would learn anything, but i did, i never knew. cassowary (which i am rightly scared of) having pseudo phallus and parrot fish poo sand, i never did like the beach

Greenland sharks also have large quantities of urea in their blood, which (among other things) helps them contend with the frigid temperatures in which they live. Cold-adaptation isn't the only useful property of urea for sharks, but it's an important one.
I remember a story about an octopus at a zoo. It was in a large container that screwed on. The food kept disappearing. They couldn’t figure out how. A video camera was placed in the room. The octopus was unscrewing the lid from the inside, getting out, unscrewing the lid to the food, eating a little(not enough to be very noticeable) screwing the lid on, getting back in its container and screwing it on. It had the forethought to minimize the clues to not get caught so it could keep getting extra. That is a scary level of thought and planning. Remembering how everything is, knowing taking small amounts so over a long time it would get more instead of gorging once, remembering how everything looked and making sure to return everything to its original state is SO smart. If they get any smarter we might be in trouble!
