    Hello Peter,
    Well I've just finished watching your entire "My Layout" series, along with the entire "Truckee" and "Missabe and Western" series'. So now I am starting with this fascinating K &SV layout build series which ought to bring me pretty much up to date. Cheers!

      Glad you're enjoying them.
      There are several other play-lists as well: structures, layout-designs, operations, etc.

    Thank you for the meticulous work! You make it look easy, but I know from "attempting" my own projects just how much skill and patience you must have to do those kits with that kind of precision! T4

    Walthers did a good job with the detail. I've seen photos of similar type of bridges and the model captures the look very well. I can see there's a bit of time involved in assembling it.

    • @mpeterll
      @mpeterll  3 года назад

      Yes, I think this is on a par with the Central Valley single track truss as far as my favorite bridge kits go.

      Actually it went together very easily. There are a lot of pieces but nothing difficult. Just read the directions and take your time.

    Thank you for sharing this time-lapse. I've been thinking about getting this kit and converting it to a single track width. With you video, it appears the two sides would be no issue, but all the cross members at the top and bottom would require significant reworking. Doable, but not quick. Again, thanks for this video.

      Someone else left a comment saying that they had recently built the single track version, suggesting that what you want already exists.

    Walthers kits are great in that they are highly detailed. They have loads of parts. You need to stay alert not the mix them up. I speak from experience.
    Your finished product is a beauty, at least as good as the picture on the box. How is the track to be supported on the bridge?

    • @mpeterll
      @mpeterll  3 года назад

      The track sits directly on the longitudinal beams, although I haven't decided yet what brand I will use. Walthers bridge track is expensive and only comes in short lengths (requiring a joint mid-span) while Micro-Engineering bridge track can be installed in one piece. Their bridge track requires that the guardrails be installed separately, which may be a bit of a pain inside a long truss bridge like this, but I think the finished result looks better since the guardrails are smaller rail than the running rails.

    Thank you mpeterll for your videos on building kits. If I may sak, what glue are you using when you assemble the bridges ?

    • @mpeterll
      @mpeterll  3 года назад +1

      I use Methyl Ethyl Ketone. It's available from home improvement stores in a quart can for not much more than hobby suppliers charge for their tint bottles. You'll need to start with one of the small bottles though and then keep refilling it as the quart can isn't a convenient container to work from.

    Excellent video ! I have just purchased the single track version. Question: Do you think there needs to be any steel rod reinforcement on the bottom of the bridge? I have a $1,200 passenger train that will cross this bridge with a drop of 22 inches to the bottom of the river valley.

      This is already a double track bridge for HO-scale. I haven't checked this particular kit, but most of Walthers structure kits are eventually released in N-scale as well.
