Just like you, I grew up watching Spider-Man and reading comics but as I got older, I got a manga and now that I’m older I do enjoy Manga a lot better, but I appreciate the comics still
When I was 16yr I used to read manga like one piece , toriko , fma and berserk back then I didn't care much about comics until I decided to give it a shot to see if I liked it my first comic was Hellboy and it became my fav and then I started enjoying comics more that manga but just because i like comics more doesn't mean they better they both equally amazing In my opinion
Valid video, i aint really a comic reader and im mostly a manga reader, but getting into manga and especially deeper stories, i look back on things and realize, my hero has a really sloppy story, jjk has a sloppy, and in my opinion, bad story😭😭 which is obviously my opinion, but then everytime i look at comics as an outside observer, i never see anything worth my time in the space, its all episodic slop that gets redone and remade with no substance or reason, and thats why things like invincible and the boys will, in my opinion, stand the test of time better than traditional comic stories like secret wars or civil war will, or just be more relevent in pop culture, iv never heard about anyone really talk about comic runs outside of people who are dedicated to it, or make references to it, but manga theres thousands of people who are referencing it all the time Ion wanna TRASH comics, but, i just havent really seen any stories that even look interesting from an outsider perspective, and it feels like alot of people agree, plus manga has better paneling😭 Just my opinion tho gang W video
@yea I think the stories of the original Tmnt themselves are inspired by manga, not just the art. And the new Ronin series of TMNT has cyberpunk elements as well. But the original Tmnt is the superior version imo.
I have never read comics but I love manga and one of the reasons is that it's hard to get into comics like there are so many goddamn versions of comics it's confusing. I want to read comics but I just can't get into the whole multiverse concept.
That's one of the biggest criticism and challenge of getting into comics. I recommend looking up the best stories for a character you are interested in and reading from there.
where can I do that, like for manga you have MyAnimeList and AniList to know which mangas are good but theirs no such thing for comics. If you know any then could pls tell me their names I tried finding but the websites were outdated.
I accidentally clicked on this and someone who's never been into western comics because I live on the other side of the world, finding all the same characters being just rehashed over the years doesn't make me want to read about them. The barrier of entry feels really high. I feel like there would be inside jokes and continuity that would have bled into any of the new iterations that I as a newbie wouldn't be able to understand the context of. As opposed to say, Full Metal Alchemist which has a definite beginning and a definite end.
@@Zakaria-qy5sm Evolve sure, but do the stories actually end? Because each new iteration of it all, every multiverse jump, feels like fanfiction made official...what if we take the characters everyone and their senile grandfather knows and put them in a newer setting, one with smartphones. Kinda like Pride and Prejudice with Zombies.
@@CrimsonMey i mean you don't have to read every comic book, just find a run of a writer and a character and you get a complete experience, some character have a last story like old man logan or last ronin if you want closure but its about enjoying the stories no need to put rules on art/storytelling
I believe if Marvel and DC are to succeed as publishers in the future, independent of the support they get from their parent companies (movies and lunch boxes), the must go back to the original Marvel method which was very similar to current manga. Marvel skyrocketed to # 1 in the late silver and Bronze Ages because they were moving the characters and story forward with a coherent continuity/payoffs unlike dc which was in stagnation with the villain of the month model. doing things the same will only lead to them being one trick ponies that are living off of the original ideas of basically a handful of creators from the early to mid 20th century. that might work with the small residuals of readers from the past and might bring in a small percentage of the young market. but for sure they won't be labeled "the big two" anymore unless they act as publishers and not custodians of golden/silver age IPs. As they are now, they are failing, they have rootless pasts (thanks to continuous retcons), and pointless futures (because no end or resolution is in sight). A character in a manga has a journey. A character in a marvel/dc comic book has an appearance. I say this as someone who is over comics but someone who is grateful for the joy they gave me when I did read them.
I feel like you're being over critical on comic books and yet you praise manga the whole time without Comics. There would be no such thing as manga and I just think that manga is really weird
I tried to give a fair criticism on both. I feel like I praise Comics more on this channel than I do manga so I thought I gave a little bit more criticism in this video but also you got to give Manga a chance. The weird concepts are what makes it cool
As a lover of both you're doing yourself the biggest diservice of your life! Two of my favorite fictional characters ever come from both sides, being flash and Naruto Theres a manga out there for you to read and all you have to do is give it a chance
Comics are way better artistically and storywise , Watchmen , bratpack , miracle man/marvel man I could go on and on , most manga are the same stories , mc becomes a strong fighter yada yada , mc gets put in a different world , mc gets a special power no one else has.

I had the reverse, used to love manga but now I’m obsessed with comics
YESS, I love both, both have AMAZING stories and THE ART. It's one of the biggest reasons I read comics and Manga
Bro that punisher outfit was sick. Little kid you rocked it
Appreciate it bro

I do like the thumbnail you went with here, but honestly I think this is better 12:52
I didn't even think to use that!!!
Thank you I really enjoyed this video.
I keep saying that they're the same thing, and both should be subjected to the superior form of art, animation
Bro, 90% of anime adaptation don't do justice to their manga counterpart, what are you talking about?
@@Hyde_Lawrence i like cartoons
Comics is basically manga and manga is basically comics honestly
They are totally different things look closer on their story art style you would found the different
@@Grillman45600yeah, comics are usually more serious and have better art. Manga usually have silver plots and simpler art but better paneling
@@Jery-ej3izThere are some mangas with detailed art like Berserk and One punch man

I love both too comic book and manga.
I like colour, but I also don't like the large speech bubbles for text walls.
The original Black and white teenage mutant ninja turtles kinda has a hybrid feel, of comics and manga doesn’t it?
Wow I never really thought about it that way.
