I like it but I feel like if you try hard enough, you can get the timing down to always get what you want. You should figure out a way to let the wheel spin freely after the click so it stops more randomly
Do a d8, d10, d12, and d20
I wish there was a small portable cube like mechanism that could decide numbers ranging from 1 to 6
Pass, I'll take the 15 minutes to design my own in fusion. But instead it'll be a useful d20.
I would make this like a magic 8 Ball with different short replies and apply it to my keychain. So on the go decision making "to rage out or not?" Oh yeah😮

im not surprised by the fact that you have managed to make it less portable, but its pretty satisfying
@MarsPanic001 It is bigger than a die, but it's also harder to use and you don't have to have a flat surface to use it.
@@Mmmmmmicrowave yeah thats my point. its just more satisfying :)
its easily more portable. i dont get why people forget the basic fact that you have to roll dice for them to work.
Getting 6 three times in a row is the proof that you can cheat with mid effort
It is an indication, but not proof. If 1000 people did that 4 of them would likely get 3 in a row.
@@zpa89 What i mean is that with skill, you can get any number you want with this device, which should be random, which makes being able to choose what number you get is cheating
@@Kwerimirewk sure, but if you want a random number, you can get one. This isn't a professional tool, it is a quick and fun way to be able to pull a die out of your pocket once and awhile.

Hmmmmmmmmm so you’re saying I can D20 all the time
I sort of remember dice being portable when I was a child, they must have gotten so sophisticated that they are no longer portable.
Dont you know about the last update? They make dice into dice 2
Don't forget Dice 360 and Dice+.

It's built into your phone with an app.
Bro, you hit the nail on the head - I thought exactly the same thing 😂
I’m never playing any game with someone who has these. You absolutely could get good enough to know exactly what number it’s gonna land on
You could spin it a few times yourself with it upsidedown before handing it back. Still, dice are better.
The timing thing is for short single spins basically tho right? As long as you give it a good jab and hold it for awhile it should be pretty random.
.
@@ericferguson2051 This is it, it's all in the intent anyway. Dice or not, if people want to cheat they'll cheat.
use it as an advantage die. you only get to roll it if you have advantage.
Where are the batteries? The thing inside u showed wouldn't spin anything
i bet that there's some kind of ratchet mechanism that launches the wheel with the push and brakes when you release the button
There must be a battery for this to even spin, but this is useless as you can print a dice as well which ensure randomness, this device is not random.
@@JorgeGomez-ov9en There doesn't have to be a battery, did you consider that he didn't show the whole build and that there might be a piece to complete the mechanism to make it spin?
Well fuck him if that's the case @@juxtapode2781
That's cool and all but what makes this more portable than dice? I feel like dice are pretty portable. This feels like a solution to a non-problem
Probably for if you dont have a surface to roll a dice on
Basically a failed invention 😅... we have ai and 3D prints... but some people are... well... kinda meh

I'd recommend painting the dice engravings to make it easier to see or if you don't wanna use paint, to print the dice symbols in black and glue them in or something, but really cool project for sure!

Bro, made a perpetual motor with a 3D printer 😂
It's not perpetual if it's thumb powered

@@DRAGSOUL0007gravity Newton! 🙄🥴
@@garrettbelshe8954bros brain can't think for itself for even 1s. It's a damn button just wedge it somewhere so it's always pressed down
It's flat, contained spin top (the red circle) that the black button starts up when you press down like a string on old spintops or the ripcord on beyblades. Those things start real fast and could last minutes, but none of them were perpetual. Just looks like it for a few seconds. The red spring does nothing but force the black button up to catch the spinning top. So it's not perpetual, it's thumb powered, taking the force of pushing down and making it rotational.
Dice could never be more portable
A single six-sided die is literally more portable and less breakable than this absolute doohickey.
Wow I hadn't even thought about how much less portable this is than actually dice lmao

Can I make a suggestion? if you want this Doohicky to be a more valid dice replacement, make the opposite sides add up to 7. In other words, 6 across from 1, 2 across from 5 and 3 across from 4. That is how standard dice are designed
would be good that while putting down the button the window where you see the result is closed. and for being like a real dice you could also switch the numbers so that 6 and 1 are on opposite sites like on a real dice. the sum is always 7 on a real dice

Aye a device that lets you roll a 6 every time hell yeah!
Parts not seen on this video. The spring. The gear with ratchet. The mechanism to wind the red dice.
Nope, the spring is the very first part, the red one. The ratchet is the third piece that he inserts (that sticks out the top). The gear is part of the red disc. All 6 parts are shown in the video
Parts not seen in this comment: The brains, the power of observation, basic understanding.
@@IlIlllIIIllIIlIIlII How does it perpetually move though it doesn't make sense especially since he didn't show what was behind the red disc
I love how it appears to be more plastic and less functional than just carrying a die.
In the age of miniaturisation, this was an absolutely necessary invention.
For anyone confused, when you push the stick in, a pin disengages with enough force to flick the disc, then when you release the pin reengages to stop the disc
I like how it landed on 6 every time, almost like it's non functional.
The first one was 5 and then he did 666 on purpose. If you notice he pressed it a short time to get the same number. It’s all about how long you hold it
He’s timing it

Its like having dice but more complicated and portable
To everyone who's complaining/joking: regular dice need a horizontal surface, so it's not ideal for traveling.
I love how little we get told about the actual mechanism
The hardest thing in a perpetual motion is hiding the motor 😂
Just cannot replace rolling a bucket of dice all at once for those glorious fireballs, warhammer battles, or white wolf characters.
I never should have gotten my resin printer. I barely print fine detailed models as it is, and there’s so much more I can print with a filament one. Oh the whims of youth (I bought it last year)

It actually is portable.. because the normal dices have to be thrown everytime, and that becomes a hassle sometimes depending on where you are playing.
Precisely
Finally! A portable dice! I'm so sick of dice not being portable enough.
This guy just invented perpetual motion for constant energy.
Man, that's so much easier than rolling my 20 kg tungsten dice 🤯 my table will thank you.
For those claiming that this is perpetual motion… the disc is given momentum when the button is pressed. That’s why you can see him press the button fairly hard each time. The spring is only there so the button returns to its original position when released.

this is so cool and goofy this gets a thumbs up from me!
With perfect timing, the roll would be guaranteed
This would be so cool for D&D 😮✨
i think u should use black marker and will in the line of the dices
The only issue with this, as you demonstrated, is that the mechanism can be timed. So a bit of randomness is lost.
I feel like if you practice hard enough you can get any roll you want with this
Design it like a pocket watch, that'd be lovely
Someone finally figured out a way to make 1 dice portable 😮
