The technical term for that is "gephyrophobia" and it isn't all that uncommon. There is a bridge in Maryland (the Chesapeake Bay Bridge) that many fear to cross and there is a shuttle service that will drive phobics across in their own vehicles for fifty bucks each way, or forty in cash. Personally I don't find bridges scary.
The Millau Viaduct is one of the coolest looking bridges out there! IMO a lot of cable stayed bridges are down right ugly but not that one. It would be high on my list to see and cross if I ever made it to France.
