Vestal baby thats where i hang daily its kinda like country farm mixed with the streets lol have chikens an shit runnin out in da road lol i love my home town
There is NO EXCUSE for not keeping yourself and your property clean. I was homeless. I kept my body and clothes clean I washed up every day in public restrooms. I ate from a dumpster behind Whites on S. Roan st in JC. I got a job at Checkers and saved my pay for six months while living along the tracks..I walked 4 miles to work every day I was scheduled - rain, snow, cold, heat. I never missed a day. I got an apartment. I worked hard and saved hard. Ten years later I bought a house trailer in Embreeville, TN. I joined the Volunteer Fire Dept and gave back. I was a REAL Dreamer!
@David G, that is a wonderful story and I am glad to have come across it. I don't know you or what has happened to you since you wrote this 2 years ago but I hope God has continued to bless you and yours. You are an inspiration to all the people that are struggling.
Wow that’s incredible. You know what makes you different than others? I bet you appreciate your home so much. Everyday waking up in a house you own, coming from where you did is really amazing.
I am from East Knoxville, born and raised, and these are NOT the worst parts of Knoxville. I love how you only showed East Knoxville where the population is mostly black people, as if crime and ghetto housing can’t be found in other areas where the majority of the population is white. Crime can be found all over Knoxville, it is not solely found in East Knoxville. East Knoxville is considered to be a gem because unlike other areas, we have a lot to offer because we are heavily involved within our community and we take care of one another. Sure, it may look rough but it is definitely not the worst parts of Knoxville. So, whoever told you that this is the worst part of Knoxville mislead you and you shouldn’t mislead others with titles such as this one.
Payton Alex yeah I grew up in Powell merchants area.. central... and have you saw merchants it’s wayyyyyyyy rougher than magnolia now! I lived on cherry street off Cecil Avenue and loved it nice quite subdivision! Video needs to be re filmed.
I've driven around this area during the day and during the night. I have a friend who lives in this neighborhood. It is true that as it begins to get dark, you'll see some sketchy people coming out. It's not uncommon to see prostitutes, homeless, and those who are looking for drugs roaming the streets. But I've never felt unsafe in the area. I've gone to my friend's apartment (at Linden and Bertrand) late at night and walked through small gatherings of people who are drinking liquor out of brown paper bags. They'll throw up their hand at you, stop you, and want to talk--very friendly people. I'll stand there talking to them--about religion--about politics--about music--about the weather--about whatever. Just a bunch of normal people who didn't grow up with a silver spoon in their mouths. I happened to stop one night at the Family Dollar Store near Bertrand St. As I was leaving, an older prostitute came up to me and wanted to "talk". I just told her that I wasn't interested and she said, "That's OK baby. You have a blessed night." Here's the thing though... You can drive through the "worst parts of Knoxville" and talk about how dicy and crime-ridden they are. But also keep in mind that you can sail a yacht around Jeffrey Epstein's private island, knowing that several underaged girls were sexually assaulted there--your imagination reeling at the debauchery that went on in the compound. Which is less safe--East Magnolia or the Epstein estate? I guess that depends on who you talk to. Knoxville's a fine city with fine people. It's a little haven of liberal, left-leaning folks surrounded by deeply conservative communities. I'll take it any day--the good, the bad, and the ugly.
The prostitutes and homeless are the least dangerous folks in the neighborhoods. Most of them are good people just down on their luck. The real problem are meth and opioid addicts who drive down from the neighboring rural counties to break into peoples' homes and cars in Knoxville. There was just news where they found in Campbell County a gigantic cache of stuff stolen from Knoxville.
100% agree with you. This biggest problems I've seen is all the Shelby and Hamilton county tags in the area, especially around West Town. That mall area has gone crazy since the shut down of The East Town Mall, and the moving out a lot of the homeless to that area. I've seen some crazy stuff at the Walmart on Walbrook. Like any other city there are places where you have to be careful. I will say the scariest ass city I lived in was the Augusta/Aiken area of Georgia an South Carolina.
@@Oakwoody Pretty sure the vast majority of homeless are heroin and meth addicts or just really bad drunks. Homeless population is a problem no matter what, tired of people just writing them off as harmless. Tired of my tax dollars paying for parks and public spaces that the homeless ruin for everyone.
This has pissed me off. I drive all over Knoxville and knox county. There are parts FAR WORSE than east knox. Meth, prostitution, drug houses, gangs, etc are more south and even west knox. Let's ride together and I'll show you.
@@NickJohnson You can do some research then you'd have known before doing this video. And looking like you don't know anything about Knoxville. Before you shame us. To late now, maybe in future videos you'll do some research of the area your filming in. You could have Goggled it at least.
@@NickJohnson "East Knoxville" is Black Knoxville, so you basically just racially profiled Black Knoxville as the worst part of Knoxville. Congrats on being a Racist Dick. The "worst" parts of cities largely depend on whether you are a black driving into a white neighborhood - such as a DWB pulled over in Sequoyah Hills or a white college guy caught in Montgomery Village trying to score some drugs for his Frat party. South Knoxville looks nicer than East Knoxville but has a higher rate of Home Invasions each year (source KPD). Townview Terrace is on Summit Hill right next to the Knox Police Department yet has been the scene of many drivebys and open shootouts. Knoxville has seen a rise in "Gentrification" as you call it but you misread the project vs. new development building. That is not where the city is forcing out the poorer project dwellers. Gentrification is happening mostly in places like the Fifth Ave Neighborhood and Greasy Hollow. There is no one road that is more dangerous than the others. There are bad spots around Knoxville, but to judge it on fifth ave next to KARM because you are prejudice against the visibly homeless is crazy since the majority of homeless in Knoxville don't live on the streets. You might try to do some research before making a crappy video and showing how truly ignorant you are about a place.
As a Knoxville resident I would say this is the most dangerous area (if not the most run-down). South Knoxville maybe? Not really sure where is worse than this.
I’m from Knoxville as well. Compared to other cities Knoxville really doesn’t have a “bad area” you should see some f the run down areas of Chattanooga it’s a lot worse.
So this video came up in my feed so I had to watch it. I’ve lived in Knoxville for 20 years. I lived in East Knoxville when I moved up here for 13 years. Got a wild hair and moved to west Knoxville. I lasted 6 months. I saved up all my pennies and was determined to buy a house...and I knew I was coming back East. I live a mile from where he was on magnolia. I have never felt unsafe and I am a single white woman. This video is laughable. Certainly no quality research was done. Bad things happen everywhere. Just be a smart, cautious and aware individual. East Knoxvillians love East Knoxville. So maybe I should thank you for calling us the “worst” part of town to scare off people who aren’t willing to embrace a wonderful community that supports local businesses and keeps a small town vibe alive.
Jake Bronkala big box stores, chain restaurants, stop and go traffic...just not the place I want to call home. I’m certainly not saying that it’s a bad place to live, I think all of Knoxville is fantastic. I just prefer the slower side of town.
I just want to know where you got your information from. I was born and raised in East Knoxville. There are far worse places. Videos like yours are the reason that white Americans see lower income folks as dangerous. Notice I didn’t say Black Americans. East Knoxville has an extremely high Afrikaan and Hispanic population. Those newer houses you speak of on MLK, they are still low income housing. Those projects you speak of that are on the same block, they are being rebuilt. Know before you speak about an area. I love East Knoxville! I live west now and I drive my kids to school every day on the East side.
"Afrikaan"? As in white decendants of Dutch colonists from South Africa that speak the Dutch-derived language Afrikaans? Or do you think that's just a fun thing to call black people? FYI, two COMPLETELY different things.
For readers who want to know about Knoxville: the area in the first part of this video is where a new baseball stadium complex is being planned. A lot of the old factory and warehouse buildings have been demolished to make room for it. The new complex is supposed to include apartments, a grocery store, and restaurants. It will completely revitalize an underused area. Also, over the last 4-5 years, numerous other breweries, eateries, coffee shops, etc. have come to the downtown area. I am amazed that there are enough customers with money to support all of the new businesses. Some of the formerly run-down areas, such as Happy Hollow on Central Avenue, have been transformed into thriving districts. Of course, the worst parts of Knoxville and just about every other city is where the old, small houses and government housing projects are. Those are the poorest areas, so naturally they're the highest crime areas.
Something tells me you aren’t from around here. I live on the “outskirts” of Knoxville and never once have I had a problem with crime. Many people consider my neighborhood a “sketchy place” but again, never experienced crime. People here are good hearted, hardworking, middle class people who might struggle to make ends meet. But don’t doubt for a second that every one of us wouldn’t give you the shirt off our backs in your time of need. How about you actually get out of your car and talk to folks who live here. Might change your mind.
@@NickJohnson That neighborhood is dangerous.east Knoxville is a death trap for all the people who live there for generations the poverty stricken stuck in the cycle of poverty for the last six generations.
You don’t even know what you’re talking about. Five Points isn’t “gentrification”, it’s the revitalization of public housing. The Old City isn’t one of the worst parts of town. We kept it that way on purpose and has some of the most flourishing businesses in Knoxville. Stop talking about what you literally don’t understand.
I lived here my whole life and I'm sitting here trying to figure out why are you saying this about my town this is not the worst part of Knoxville every city in the United States have other issues but what you don't know is people from Knoxville take it personal don't you come over judge not place you clean up where you from you let us clean up where we at and we we just fine thank you very much
@@lynnski-ex3zk Oh Lordy! That's 1 bad thing about Knoxville! If he has friends here renting a house w/roommates will be cheaper. It being a college town!
👍🏾Knoxville, Tenn don't have a worst part anymore, because the Walter P. Taylor Homes & Austin Home projects were tore down & people relocated. Unless gentrification is your idea of bad. You could find trouble anywhere nowadays.
I've driven through the areas you did in this video and never experienced what would be considered "worst". I will say that Magnolia Ave has a good amount of jaywalking issues. You should do a video on the bad drivers of Knoxville. That'll definitely turn up some results.
You are misinformed about the Five Points area. Those new buildings in Five Points are government assisted housing. They are owned by KCDC, Knoxville’s public housing authority, and are replacing what was formerly Walter P Taylor and Lee Williams homes. The new houses and buildings are now occupied by many of the same families that lived in the old buildings. It’s part of a 6 year $80m project. Also when you claimed to be in Parkridge you were on the wrong side of Magnolia. You should have been north of Magnolia and west of Cherry St to see where the largest amount of gentrification isn’t taking place in East Knoxville. You could stand to do better research before mislabeling and providing incorrect information.
That’s so awesome that you came to Knoxville. I live here. Iv been watching your videos for months now, so it’s so cool to see my city on your channel. They are definitely putting downtown through a lot of dramatic changes. They made it look better and made it much safer. The old city is very ‘civil war’ looking. Lots more to do downtown and more to see now. Really great footage! Thank you for coming down here! I feel so honored lol.
I have another downtown Knoxville video coming next month. I LOVE your city it's so chill and people are really nice. Only thing was The Strip was kinda dead - thought I'd see way more UT kids running around!
Jeannette very nice comment.. And by the way, this part of your city is very interesting! Best regards from southeastern Europe 👍😁PS i love this channel too.. @@NickJohnson Cant wait to see the next downtown video. This place IS very chilled and friendly. But you were in the wrong area if you want to see all the college kids. You just happened to be in the area where most people in Knoxville choose to stay away from. I don't even like to go anywhere near that Magnolia Ave. area. The majority of Knoxville and downtown Knoxville is much cleaner and nicer with a lot less crime than the area you were in. The rest of downtown knoxville is swarming with university students, and nicer things to see and do.

Mind thoughts exactly! He is allowing outsiders to see the heart of the city which is the east side and possibly come in to try and gentrify our area. He mentioned it in the video but he’s playing dumb now.
Exactly! Cuz they stay finding dead bodies behind Montgomery village on the SOUTH side, young meth heads in police chases on the North side and so on etc but nobody wants to mention that tho🤷

Your videos are honestly disgusting. You're declaring a part of a city that people live in and love "the worst" for views. I've lived and worked in these areas my entire life and have never had the first issue. This is exploitative and gross.
Do you go to these places because of making a video or are you just in the area and think you could make a video out of it? What brings you to these places. Just wondering. Great video!
Both. I travel a lot and in this case was gonna be in Knoxville. But I went to Detroit and flint on purpose. I usually don't go out of my way to capture a place though. I'll take suggestions of somewhere you think I should go and I'll see if I can work it in when I travel!
Nick Johnson I was born & raised here.. it could use some updating and remodeling but by far is not the worst side. Obviously they are dying to try and take it back because it’s really a great side of town. EVERYTHING is over there.. the fair, Knoxville Zoo, Market Square, Old City, Riverside, Thompson Bowling Arena. It’s actually one of the BEST parts of the city. So how about you... did you learn anything??
It's pretty cool your able to drive around and document areas of interest. I hope when life slows down a little I can do the same. You inspire me Nick. Be safe out there. And don't forget to drive around them rich neighborhoods too. Pretty cool too see them too. Maybe famous people house tour one day?
Bro I'm from East Knoxville where is the houses you can rent for 500 dollars at you must be talking about some apartments somewhere even the worst looking homes they want 750
I take some offense to you(and others) continuing to perpetuate the notion that East Knoxville is more dangerous than other areas. After living multiple places all over this country I researched before buying here and found, not only, that(according to the most recent stats) the suburbs of Knoxville were far more dangerous than the city. In addition, many neighborhoods within Knoxville were the same or worse than East. The only difference I see in East Knoxville is there seems to be a higher population of People of Color than the rest of the city. (Which actually comes from a rich and intriguing history, but maybe that's a different video?) Not trying to start anything; I just LOVE this city(and this neighborhood!) and I see it really starting to blossom and would love to see it reach it's potential while shedding some of those outdated stigmas. I know this video is over a year old so maybe it could just be time to reassess how accurate this actually is.
I’m from Knoxville. The “sketchiest” area is East Magnolia. And then there’s what’s known as the “murder Weigels” which is gas station shootings happen regularly. This past year back in the spring, there was a shooting everyday due to what was called “40 day 40 nights” where one set (gang) promises to kill one member of the rival set everyday for 40 days and 40 nights. The fued was from what I understand between Gangster Disciples and Vice Lords. All happened in park ridge and surrounding areas. Go there.

You said the worst part of Knoxville didn’t look all that bad. That would be because that wasn’t the worst part, lol. You should have driven west or south from the Old City for that. Lonsdale, Mechanicsville and around Central can be scary, especially with the tent cities around Central from the homeless.
Chandlers Deli is great and it’s also there, but that’s not the worst part. I’ve never had any issues there. I’m white and used to give my black friend a ride home every night. Used to stop at the pilot right there every night. Never had anyone mess with me. I get harassed more at the Pilot on the corner of Merchants and Central. It’s always tweekers from the no tell motels in the area.

I have to say this ,Not everyone is living in poverty in this community! Most of us have lived here all our lives and are home buyers not living in poverty.I get it we are not as glamorized as west Knoxville but we have 3 schools in our district that are magnet schools and these children are going from high school to college and are becoming some of the very people that may employ you one day. It bothers me how people come to a area that has never lived there and quick to judge. And those “Projects” you claim are the worst aren’t even projects anymore ,It’s a community that houses working middle class families that work everyday and send their kids to school to get a education so they can grow up and not be a product of a environment that classify them as poverty stricken!
Wow.... That was crazy!!!!!! I don't know how you made it out of there alive. Between the heavy gunfire and tear gas coming at you , I thought it was over for you.
Thanks for coming to our city! Absolutely loved the video. Having lived in multiple parts of the country we absolutely love it here because it is so clean and very pet friendly. We tried the Gatlinburg video and it said it was private.
K-Town is also known as the Marble City, The Heart of the Valley, and Scruffy City. It's called Scruffy City because a 1980 Wall Street Journal article criticized the town as a bad choice for the World's Fair. The author called Knoxville a 'Scruffy Little City'. He wasn't wrong.
I live in Knoxville. That's a inside joke to us! Scruffy little city! Huh! Lol! Not by a long shot buddy!😂 It's a great place to live with really nice people. We all laugh about that phrase from 1982! It's our own joke now. We are not a scruffy little city.
@@dovieyoung7696 It's better then 1982. I was a child then. The World's Fair Park (it's now called), is beautiful! Community event's are held there now. It's very clean and safe. I was born and raised in Knoxville. There are no areas that I won't set foot in. They are just nothing like parts of other larger and similar sized cities.
You should really visit South Knoxville and Vestal area. Much poorer areas in my opinion. Also, stats lie. You talk about crime rate being so much higher than the national average, but as someone who works in the criminal justice system, I can tell you that it's really a matter of enforcement. We arrest and convict like crazy. You'll go to jail over a old roach in your ashtray quicker here than anywhere. Didn't know your license were suspended? Doesn't matter. You're going to jail if caught driving. Also, stats on poverty can be manipulated. Knoxville and the surrounding areas, like Maryville, are great places to live. Just don't break the law in the least.
good points! i actually thought knoxville was very chill and safe - i would totally recommend people visit. you have to enforce the laws if you want a safe place - so good work!
Have been thinking about moving our young family out of state to Knoxville but I keep finding such conflicting answers, not sure if it's a safe area or not.
Why do people always talk and do video's about knoxville and not have a clue what they're talking about... If you are from a very small county then this would be scary/ bad part of town .... If you are from a real city where you know what bad part of town means then this would be heaven in comparison.... Nice try i guess...wonder what he would say about down town Atlanta?
I live here, and I am NOT a fan of this city cause all it cares about is their university. I know I know. Why dont I move. Well smartasses, it's due to finances and family as if it's any of your business. Now as for your video, I have to admit that east knox is the bad side of town in the majority opinion, but u also have mechanicsville, lonsdale, and vestal, all of which, are located in other areas other than east knox. This city is TERRIBLE for business. The wealthy end (west) continues to flourish with new businesses while its local economy keeps thriving. All the while, the other 3 sides of town gain nothing from it as new businesses to Knoxville (Costco, best buy, mall retailers, whole foods, ulta beauty, nice eateries, etc etc) continue to support the wealthy end of town with the support of the city offering them tax breaks if they move into west knox and nowhere else. This city is biased towards west knox, and the politics involved simply support those who support them, and that's exactly the same for this city's university. It's all about money, donations, and who's willing to buy you. East town mall is gone leaving every consumer in town to run to west Knoxville when it comes to shopping places like belks, dillards, Penny's, etc etc. However, many have turned to online shopping, but still, those who choose to shop the old fashioned way have to run out west and keep feeding the hands of the rich. It's just history repeating itself. That's all. Simply put.
I agree with your statement. I live in knox county on the east side and I have to drive a minimum of 15 miles to a grocery store, and to a walmart. Their is nothing past walmart at east town., a few convenient stores is about it. Rutledge pike has no restaurants, not even a McDonald's, none. Nada, the dollar store is the closest you come to a dept store. In turn west knoxville has hundreds of restaurants, fast food places, and different business galore. East knox county is not important because unlike west knox county we are the working class. I have to drive 15 miles just to get to walmart much less drive all the way from the city limits to the west city limits to shop at the mall. They let east town mall go and put all energy into west town. You couldn't see east town from the interstate because of tree's they planted. So of course it went out of business. Knoxville officials, city and county only care about the wealthiest part of town.
@@janieburkhart5 uhhh, wtf!? I just moved away from East Knox and used to bike all over to restaurants and the TWO farmers markets and such. Hell, Downtown is just a few miles (biking distance!) from the furthest edge of east Knox and it's got like 30 restaurants! What do you mean no resturaunts!? There are also TONS of thriving artists and shops and boutiques thriving all over east knox and downtown! I never even go to west knoxville.. that place is a nightmare and far less charming than old/east knox! They also have been constantly working on repaving and improving all of the downtown areas! Moved to Knoxville When I was 14 from the poor side of Chicago and lived in a doublewide trailer with my relatives. They had a little land up in the mountains and my cousin was Kentucky foosball champion. Had a guy in a car try to abduct my cousin and I as we were fishing. Most youth are bored there and do a lot of drinking and drugging.
I'll always think of this city, especially the Northeast & East Side, as the areas where Channon Christian and Chris Newsom were abducted and held captive before being brutally and painfully sexually assaulted, tortured, and eventually slain all the way back in early 2007. I'm a woman from Southern California, but I was living in North Texas when I first stumbled upon the horrific story several years ago, completely by chance, and it made a lasting impression on me. 😐
I live in Lenoir City which is right outside of Knoxville. The trials of each savage was televised. Channon’s daddy was so very pitiful! He would sit there and rock with his hands joined together. Vanessa wrote in a diary what a wild weekend she’d had! That came out in court and if looks could kill from Channon’s dad Vanessa just got the death penalty! She ended up with 35 years which I think was not enough. She’s been up before the parole board but was denied. Only one of them got the death penalty. I don’t think that’s fair bc that’ll take twenty years for appeals.
Relocated from South Florida two years ago, the bad areas of Knoxville are mild in comparison to parts of of Broward County Florida. Homeless situation is getting worse down there along with a large majority of mentally ill that are homeless. The warmer climate attracts the homeless.
The narration concludes, “I hope you learned something.” Having lived in East Knoxville for 12 years: this is the most poorly researched dribble regarding East Knoxville I have ever seen. The only thing factual is the video footage.

@@chrisnelson7458 I worked in a Security office on Magnolia for a year. They moved to Middlebrook Pike. I drove thru Lonsdale everyday to get to work after that. At every red light some different random guy, everyday, would scare the crap outta me! On Magnolia, I have no ideal why, guy's would leave flowers/sweet notes on my car. And since I can remember my folks took us to Pizza Palace. They best pizza in this town! Dang! It's 7am & I want some now!😂 I'm sorry your house has been shot at. I've even got lost over there & 6 guy's where standing on a corner. I smiled real big & asked for directions. They where so nice! I know they were drug dealer's. But! They where nice!😅 I had a pimp move in across the street from me at home. He brought me a basket of muffins & introduced himself 2 me. He was 1 of the best neighbors I ever had! He even asked me 2 work 4 him. All his girls wore maroon. I told him Ty but I looked horrible in that color. He laughed n laughed. I miss you Big Daddy!! He watched out for me too. I guess, I see people's soul's not their color or job. But! Lonsdale! Hell to the No! Just from my experience's. Keep doing your thing Dude! This guy just mad me so so mad.😊😉
I live in Parkridge and I've never lived in a neighborhood before that has so many neighbors who talk to each other so freely, everyone checks how their neighbors are, and there's no attitude. Everybody's welcome. It's incredibly nice to feel close to my neighbors and though we sometimes do play the old game of "was that a gunshot or was it fireworks?" Ive never felt safer. For real.
I want to add that Parkridge may be the blackest part of Knoxville, and yes I am white. But I feel safer with my black neighbors than I have in other "nicer" cities with whiter neighbors. Maybe good to check your assumptions at the door and consider the advantages to living in a community that is so connected to one another.
Im born in raised in Knoxville, and you only feel safe because you are an innocent white girl in the hood. You aren’t repping a set so there’s no beef. Every hood is known for your “block” being “your block”. Likes it’s own little community. But do you ever just take a walk when it gets dark out and just walk down a couple different streets? Probably not. And usually if you have to question if it’s a gunshot then it’s more likely a gunshot. Especially in park ridge.
I want to see these areas at midnight on a Friday or Saturday. Especially Detroit. Film in night vision. Maybe you could drive really slow with your windows down, asking for directions or something. Title it I drove through the worst part of Detroit at midnight. I almost didn't make it.
When I was 18 back in the late 80s, I remembered driving through one of the worst areas in NYC (West Harlem) and I disregarded every stoplight and stop sign because the alternative could have been worse.

Agree with you 100% lived in Knoxville my whole life.
Payton Alex yeah I grew up in Powell merchants area.. central... and have you saw merchants it’s wayyyyyyyy rougher than magnolia now! I lived on cherry street off Cecil Avenue and loved it nice quite subdivision! Video needs to be re filmed.
Yes he made me mad when he said very poor and dangerous
Knoxville east side isn’t the worse but also not economic stable but yeah
I didn't go that far but dead on
I've driven around this area during the day and during the night.
You have a blessed night."
Here's the thing though...
There was just news where they found in Campbell County a gigantic cache of stuff stolen from Knoxville.
thanks for the info!! you and i would be friends in real life!
@@Oakwoody that's terrible!

Reuben Mitchell yes sir, south is terrible now
just go to Rockwood. Not Knoxville, but still scary. Can't pass an old trailer and NOT think it's a meth lab
South...maybe. But West Knoxville? Is that a joke? 😂 Only gangs in this (awful) part of Knox are the Karens and the Desperate Housewives.

@@fleciashreve2313 you didn't answer his question, just said rude things. If he's wrong teach him don't preach your bs
Soooooo? Do you just got around guessing what the “worst parts” are in each city because you did awful in this video 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
This is the worst area it's just that Knoxville doesn't have a really bad area. That's the point.
Nick Johnson no.... no it isn’t I’m from Knoxville
I’m from Knoxville as well. Compared to other cities Knoxville really doesn’t have a “bad area” you should see some f the run down areas of Chattanooga it’s a lot worse.
He knows where not to go.
This is not by far the worst part of Knoxville.
LMAO!
So maybe I should thank you for calling us the “worst” part of town to scare off people who aren’t willing to embrace a wonderful community that supports local businesses and keeps a small town vibe alive.
ang mer as someone who lives in West Knox, why did you not like it? Genuinely interesting to me.
Jake Bronkala big box stores, chain restaurants, stop and go traffic...just not the place I want to call home. I’m certainly not saying that it’s a bad place to live, I think all of Knoxville is fantastic. I just prefer the slower side of town.
About the only thing you were right about was that even the worse parts of Knoxville is pretty tame compared to other cities
Corrie Shuler I live in West Knoxville, and everybody over here knows that South Knoxville is easily the worst part now
Might change your mind.
um okay so you didn't watch the whole video then.
Nick Johnson you’re right. Found out it was garbage after the first two min.
East side is not middle class
He isn't. He cannot even pronounce McCalla Avenue correct. Any local would know. He produced a video just to make a little pocket change.
Stop talking about what you literally don’t understand.
did you even watch more than two minutes?
Thank you Mrs McEntee!!! 💯💯💯
Amanda McEntee you’re absolutely right. I use to drive for Uber. Plus I use to live around the district too. There’s more than meets the eye here.

👍🏾Knoxville, Tenn don't have a worst part anymore, because the Walter P. Taylor Homes & Austin Home projects were tore down & people relocated. Unless gentrification is your idea of bad. You could find trouble anywhere nowadays.
damn... the poorest area in Knoxville looks much nicer than a lot of houses here in Los Angeles 🤣🤣
I've driven through the areas you did in this video and never experienced what would be considered "worst". I will say that Magnolia Ave has a good amount of jaywalking issues. You should do a video on the bad drivers of Knoxville. That'll definitely turn up some results.
This town is my second home I use to go to university of Tennessee. I enjoyed my time there in the k town.
ima show UT next month. it was so quiet on the strip. i expected way more peeps partying.
0:45 that's where all the homeless people congregate to.. atleast everytime I drive by
You are misinformed about the Five Points area.

Exactly!!
You must not use google earth :/
Take a ride through Walter p taylor homes, or Montgomery village in south Knoxville
This guy in the video doesnt know what hes talking about
I take some offense to you(and others) continuing to perpetuate the notion that East Knoxville is more dangerous than other areas.
Go there.
That's terrible
Interesting, we were just talking about Knoxville in school today.
What were you saying about it?
Nick Johnson Just where it was located statewise.
@@CocoTaveras8975 It's a nice town. Don't believe everything you see on here. Research it yourself if your interested. I'm so glad your paying attention in class. Believe it or not you'll look back at school with fond memories when you get older.😊 Have a great week!
Also BTW you were in East Knoxville not the old city... get your facts straight
You said the worst part of Knoxville didn’t look all that bad. That would be because that wasn’t the worst part, lol. You should have driven west or south from the Old City for that. Lonsdale, Mechanicsville and around Central can be scary, especially with the tent cities around Central from the homeless.
Okay then good to know
Do you go on the south side? It's raggedy too, if not worse. Drive past vestal
The “worst part of Knoxville” has the best place to eat in Knoxville! Pizza palace! And you’re treated like family there. I travel often.
Next time you there I'll bust them cheeks for ya
Chandlers Deli is great and it’s also there, but that’s not the worst part. I’ve never had any issues there. I’m white and used to give my black friend a ride home every night. Used to stop at the pilot right there every night. Never had anyone mess with me. I get harassed more at the Pilot on the corner of Merchants and Central. It’s always tweekers from the no tell motels in the area.
You didn’t even bother going to South Knoxville/Vestal, or areas in East Knoxville like Carter , and the parts of County that are way underdeveloped.
i did i just didn't show it ;)
Vestal is the worst
I lived in North Knoxville for a year in the mid 2000s, I loved it!
i could live there for a summer. its cool!
Did you ever go to Sassy Ann's in North Knoxville?
@@sleeplessaquarius I did not get the chance to
I've lived in North Knoxville for 26 years. I love it too!
@@fleciashreve2313 I miss it, under different circumstances I would have stayed!
Nick (or anyone), can you tell me about Bakertown Road, and Pleasant Ridge Road in Knoxville? I hope to be moving to one of those two areas soon. Thanks
No idea sorry!
I kept thinking where in Knoxville Tn is the slum part. None! I thought so. It's a great place to live I think
I live here. He wasn't in the Hood/Slum part. Slightly bad but not the worst. He should have done more research. And it's a wonderful place to live. Ty Dovie!
@@fleciashreve2313 I agree.
I dont live there but it seems like a nice place. Great doctors that specialize in certain areas.
Chattanooga Tn is a different story though lol
@@dovieyoung7696 Your right. UT hospital is one of the best in the Country. Cancer, heart issues, you name it has the best care. My Dad was in a accident & became a quadriplegic. The other hospital said he had 2 day's to live. Airlifted to UT, still alive 9 year's later! Great hospital & Doctor's! My Mom had kidney cancer. They cured her also.
its close to the worst apparently i didnt get the WORST streets. but this is a good glimpse.
@@NickJohnson There ya go 😎
shoulda named the video driving through the nicest parts of knoxville tn
LOL I am not sure who went with you but you were in NO way in the worst part of Knoxville. As they say in the south bless your heart...... you tried.
Between the heavy gunfire and tear gas coming at you , I thought it was over for you.
i know i was lucky. lucky im so good looking or they might have grabbed me.
It's got some charm. It's not that bad. Now to host the worlds fair - odd choice for sure! But the worst areas aren't like I thought I'd see
I live in Knoxville. That's a inside joke to us! Scruffy little city! Huh! Lol! Not by a long shot buddy!😂 It's a great place to live with really nice people. We all laugh about that phrase from 1982! It's our own joke now. We are not a scruffy little city.
It sure was a bad choice having it in Knoxville. They lost money over that project. The area has changed a lot since 1980 for the better I think.
@@dovieyoung7696 It's better then 1982. I was a child then. The World's Fair Park (it's now called), is beautiful! Community event's are held there now. It's very clean and safe. The World's Fair was pretty good for our economy. Wage's where very good! My older sister was a waitress in the Sun Sphere. She made $15 a hour, which was a lot back then! Plus, tips. People from other Countries gave her $1,000 tip's! It wasn't bad for her! Lol!
@@fleciashreve2313 Wow that is cool!
Yes the golden globe is a symbol of Knoxville now and it is beautiful.
Have you drive through Sequoia hills or Farragut or west Knoxville??... Nothing cheap about those areas....
Your theme song is always so smoothing
yeah i use youtube audio library there's some amazing stuff on there!
Why are your video links private?
Those aren't ready yet:)
Where’s the burned out vacants , and corner boys like on the west side of Chicago ?
they aren't like in chicago for sure.
We don't have any. I don't get this video. Knoxville is not a Hell Hole.
Aint none
Nick, have you ever considered covering long island, NY. It could hands-down be featured in your "worst" series....
which part? I will likely never go to Long Island.
If these are the worst parts don't go to Miami my friend. I just relocated from Miami to Knoxville and this is nice in comparison.
i know that's what i am saying.
I was born and raised in Knoxville. There are no areas that I won't set foot in. They are just nothing like parts of other larger and similar sized cities.
Too early in the day. You should’ve waited till around 6 to make this video
I agree lol
It was on a Sunday when the video was made. Quiet
people were still asleep i guess.
Right lol
Love Knoxville , beautiful city , great people . Period
YES!!!! ♥♥♥B-)
Totally agree!
Have been thinking about moving our young family out of state to Knoxville but I keep finding such conflicting answers, not sure if it's a safe area or not.
Try surrounding counties. Knoxville isn't bad. Just like anywhere, there are bad areas but not all. I love my hometown.
It’s very safe, especially West Knox.
Wow, Nick! I wish I had known you were in my home city. I just live a couple of miles from where you were. I could have showed you around.
I wish you had!!
i know :( Im gonna publish my next trip dates in a bit so maybe i can meet up with people next time!
Wish you would have
Why do people always talk and do video's about knoxville and not have a clue what they're talking about... If you are from a very small county then this would be scary/ bad part of town .... If you are from a real city where you know what bad part of town means then this would be heaven in comparison.... Nice try i guess...wonder what he would say about down town Atlanta?
Go down Magnolia at 11 PM on Saturday night, not 11 am Sunday morning.
That wasn't convenient

As a matter of fact one of my best friends lived on magnolia at the bricks for years. Never seen anything that bad.
i know its not that bad.
Thank you..he is really trying to paint a bad picture of east knox.. He is sad! And wrong!
The streets are so clean
I have lived here all of my 41 yrs. Love my town!
It's a great place for sure.
That's all. Simply put.
that's probably the best comment on this video. i think they're trying to make east knoxville better right?
I disagree east Knoxville isn't bad at all. Every direction has its down fall. I do agree with you on University and west knoxville.
@@janieburkhart5 uhhh, wtf!? I just moved away from East Knox and used to bike all over to restaurants and the TWO farmers markets and such. The Co-Op is an AWESOME grocery store right down town and there are like 3 Krogers, a Target and Wal-Mart (ew) WELL within 15 miles.. I think it's actually less than 5 miles away! Y'all are nuts! lol
@@omniclectic you must live in the city of Knoxville. I live in Knox county , i am about 4 miles to the Knox County, Grainger County line. And about 15 miles to east town mall, or what use to be the mall. There is a little BBQ place on the corner of loves creek rd coming out of Knoxville city. All that is on Rutledge pike all the way up to Grainger County is gas stations with a convenient store. No Restaurants at all.there is a big difference between living in the city and the Country.
Great Video! Could you do one of Rockford Ill. It is very dangerous. Some parts worse then others.
Hmm I may be passing near there soon!
Yea i knew them, they are a prime example of be very careful who you rob!
The warmer climate attracts the homeless.
oh yeah for sure. will you ever go back to florida?
@@NickJohnson Only to visit maybe. Bought a food truck and and the wife loves it here and so do I.
The narration concludes, “I hope you learned something.” Having lived in East Knoxville for 12 years: this is the most poorly researched dribble regarding East Knoxville I have ever seen. The only thing factual is the video footage.
thanks for the comment!! it helps the video rank higher $$$$ for me. please comment again thanks!!

I know where you live😳
Also, you completely forgot to drive by the bad areas of trailer parks where there are no blacks or Hispanics you know, the “white ghetto”.
I saw my house 😂. It’s not even a bad place.
I almost didn't make it.
you just cant see well enough at night to justify it. but i agree it would definitely really show off a city's bad side.
When I was 18 back in the late 80s, I remembered driving through one of the worst areas in NYC (West Harlem) and I disregarded every stoplight and stop sign because the alternative could have been worse.
