And the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth are Mikami, Misa, Soichiro, Sayu, Aizawa and Matsuda (Yes, Mello helped catch Kira but he also was the reason for Soichiro's death)
I think that Mello was actually a good character and his existence was crucial for the capture of Kira. My favorite characters were always the main ones, L and Light, and the truth is that I also really liked the character of Near. But Mello was special. Despite being a genius just like Near and L, he was the only one who seemed to be more humanized. I really don't know why there is so much hatred towards the second part of the series. I know L died but the outcome was perfect. They made his death worthwhile. They always knew how to play well with the elements of the series and that, in my opinion, is what has given the value that Death note has for me. Masterpiece mates.

I enjoyed it throughout from the beginning to the end. The build up to the climax where Light gets his comeuppance was as exciting as the cat and mouse game between L and Light. In fact, I felt the story was dragging its feet around the time L and Light were bound together in handcuffs and were childishly fighting.
If we assume that each Theme "A" is meant to represent the core of the character, Mello's Theme actually fits him perfectly. It seems dark, brooding, but the same patterns that are present in Near's theme are present in his. The rise in volume and intensity is characteristic of how his emotions drive him. There are massive jumps in tone and tempo that slowly resolve for the listener, but also emulate the massive jumps in reasoning and planning that Mello demonstrates as patterns resolve themselves in his head. The patterns are harder to resolve than Near's because of the instruments and the harshness of sound, just how like Mello's attitude and his brash approach to things can make it hard to discern his motivations and reasoning, especially for Near. I adore how all the theme's in the album seem to represent their characters very well, but I think Mello's is the best representation.
Every character is represented perfectly in their own themes if you go deep on all of them. I personally like Nears theme as first but Mello's will always be special to me
Fun fact: it feels at some points that the tempo changes sporadically, *this is wrong* After some measurements, the tempo stays constant through the whole song, it just feels like that because of the irregular structure of the song
It should have been Mello only. Idk why near exists. My issue with Near is he doesn't distinguish himself enough and is literally just L 2.0. Mello would have med for a much more interesting character on his own. He is so much more different from L but still smart so it makes him an interesting contrast to L. But idk that's just me. Near was a lot better in the manga. Both him and Mello were better. Mello had lots of screen time, almost as much as Near, and Near, even if similar to L, was a lot different. He was more sassy, showed lots of emotion in small ways. In the anime they reduced all the second part of Death Note to 11 episodes and ruined the entirity of Mello's and Near's characters for no reason, when in the manga, the second part was almost as long as the first part.
