Thank you for showing vegetarian and non alcoholic options! I never ever drink when traveling solo, and prefer to stay away from animal products so this is much appreciated. I also like that you stayed in more than one place. One thing I like to do when I land is go to a local market and pick up some fruit and shelf stable snacks to keep in the hotel room in case I miss breakfast or dinner.
What a fun vacation 🤩
Hi Cary! 😊 I am so happy to hear that you also prefer to not eat animal products. Being vegetarian "on the road" is not as difficult as people may think. & Since you mentioned you liked that I stayed at different places - after Old San Juan, I stayed in an Airbnb (building on the beach) and hotel (DoubleTree by Hilton San Juan) in Condado. I thought I was going to make another video but then I ended up needing to relax. & Thank you for sharing the grocery tip! 🙌 In some of my vacations with my mom, we would do this.
This video was so much better than the typical tourist attraction videos that everyone has seen many times over. Thank you.
Thank you so much Elizabeth!!!! 😊 I totally know what you mean and I strive to showcase destinations in a refreshing way.
"I really feel transported" you funny LOL
Hahahah it’s true!! Even though you don’t need a US passport to visit, it feels like you went somewhere exotic.
I am so in love with this enchantment island
Me too!! 😊
Thank you! The best video by far. So many tips to help on my trip to PR in a few days. I had to subscribe...now sharing with my family.
You're so welcome!!! 😊 I'm so happy to hear that my video helped you with your PR trip planning! Is there anything else you wish you could know? & Welcome to the affordable luxury community! 🥂
@@BlondeInTheAir thanks for responding. Well I don't have a YT change but if I did, I would do a series of high-low lux travel ideas just like with fashion. Travel ideas at various price points but still can feel luxurious.
Elegant presentation of the many things to do around beautiful Old San Juan in my beautiful 🇵🇷 !!!
Thank you so much Albert! 😊 I love Puerto Rico, so beautiful and rich with history! 🙌 Is there anything you can recommend me (and others) to see/visit? I really wanted to go to Culebra Island.
@@BlondeInTheAir I believe that you are still in the " San Juan. Condado, Isla Verde area"...in the northeast of the island if you haven't seen it, you have beautiful Luquillo Beach. It's summer, get wet. While enjoying the water lookup across and enjoy the only tropical rain forest in USA...El Yunque. While in Luquillo, go to the kiosks. I think #2 has 2 stories. The 2nd floor has a nice view, feeling. You're vegetarian, we love pernil, etc but I'm sure there is a 🥗🍅 for you. Buen Provecho. Try to go to El Yunque too...it's a beautiful experience.
This is really well done. Our San Juan video is our best performing to date. I loved your soundtrack choice so much. It is chill and you cut in and out of it well. I hope your travels continue and that 2023 is amazing for you.
Thank you!!! I spend a good amount of time in choosing the soundtracks to match each vibe so it makes me happy to hear you say that! 😊
@@BlondeInTheAir We need to up our background game, but cannot afford another service just yet. Cheers! We have a Good Friday vlog out. It is long, but good. Especially if you celebrate good Friday.
The music that you chose for your video was on point. Really nice video.
Aww thank you!!! 😊This makes me so happy to hear! Especially since I've come a long way from using only 1 song per video and now I easily can do over 10 songs per video that matches each section's vibe. Back in the day I didn't see the necessity but it's really a game changer.
This video popped up in my recommendations and enjoyed it! I loved your vlog style and personality - almost ASMR!
I always love going back home to PR when I can. BTW, I thought you mentioned a part 2 in Condado but didn't see it posted.
AWW thank you so much! That's so sweet to hear!! 😊 Also, that's so cool you're from Puerto Rico. Is there any fun place(s) you can share to us?
Regarding the Condado video, I thought I was going to make one (I stayed at an AirBnb for 3 nights). But I realized I was stressing myself out and turned the Condado part of my trip into an actual vacation (and extended the trip for 2 more nights at a hotel). This trip taught me to stop setting unrealistic expectations, stop being so hard on myself, and stop pushing to do more even if I'm mentally/physically done.
This is what I did/saw/ate in Condado:
- Beach
- Pool
- La Concha Hotel's Casino
- Met up with friends at their houses
- Dinner takeout from STK
- Dinner/Drinks at La Bodeguita
- Lunch at La Marqueta
- Lunch at Burger King hahaha
If I were to have made a Condado video, I would have to add more activities in there.
@@BlondeInTheAir I think you made the wise choice of taking time for yourself. It's easy nowadays to feel like we always need to be on the move/working or feel like we aren't accomplishing anything in this fast pace life we sometimes feel trapped in. Without emotional, mental & physical health, what would we have left ☺. Stay healthy!
Beautful Puerto Rico! 😍 love your video💯
Right!!!!! 😍 Puerto Rico is one of my favorite destinations. & thank you so much Cristo!! 😊 Which was your favorite thing to do or see in the video?
SO COOL 👀10:23
Hahah yeah, you're right! It's a beautiful video frame with our former president + the nature! 😊 Thanks for pointing it out!!
So glad you enjoyed where you went in San Juan. But our island has much more beautiful places like beaches, rivers, caverns, forests and more. Always welcome to Puerto Rico! 🇵🇷
Yes!!! There is so much more to explore in Puerto Rico and I will be back! 😊
This is an awesome video, thanks! Going in August and I wasn’t sure if I want to rent a car 🤔
Happy to hear this, thank you so much!! 😊 If you are planning to only explore Old San Juan and Condado, renting a car is not worth it at all. There's lots of traffic in Old San Juan and walking is so much nicer/easier. If you want to explore the rest of the island then yes definitely rent haha.
@@BlondeInTheAir Got it. Thanks for the tip. I may just look for tours that explore other parts of the island. If not, I will definitely rent.
nice video
Thank you Yasmin!! 😊 What is your favorite part?
I’m planning to head to PR next year for my bday. Where was ur Airbnb located?
That sounds super fun! 😊The AirBnB was in Old San Juan. I link all the exact accommodations I stayed at in the description box under my video!
Coming down on a Monday wear should I go to drink at at night time
Hi Carl! 😊 There are sooo many bars in Old San Juan. The best thing to do is walk along Calle de San Sebastián. When I went to Puerto Rico in 2019 and in 2021, this was a really live street at night. La Factoría is really popular (my friends who live there have told me to go but I didn't get to go yet).
If you want to go out in San Juan, I recommend La Marqueta (outdoors and by the water) and rooftops (both O:LV and O:live are next to each other and each have rooftops).
Not sure about the Monday situation, but in general things closed earlier on Mondays when I went.
Question:
I am living in New York, and in 2 weeks I am going to travel to Puerto Rico. Do I need to get tested for Covid or is vaccinated enough?
Hi Maria, that's so exciting! Hope you enjoy!! 😊Currently, if you are vaccinated, all you need to do is upload a picture of your vaccine card through the "Travel Declaration Form portal", no testing is necessary. You can read more about that here: www.discoverpuertorico.com/info/travel-guidelines
I love your videos! I’m planning to go to Puerto Rico later this year or next year. Do you think it would be easy to get around if I don’t speak much Spanish? I really admire your courage to go out to dinner by yourself. I frequently Travel solo but I’m always nervous to go to dinner alone.
Awww Holly thank you so much, it makes me so happy to hear that!! 💙 Also, love that you travel solo as well! Where’s your favorite place you’ve been to alone and why?
To answer your question - in general you can get by with knowing only English. If you go somewhere less touristy, it’s good to know some Elementry Spanish words/phrases. If you’re vegetarian like me, make sure you say you want food that is “sin carne y pescado” (without meat and fish) not just “sin carne” bc I made that mistake when I went to Cataño and got empanadas with fish in it. To reply to your comment about dinners, that’s when it hits me that I’m traveling solo, but I feel better if I FaceTime friends from home. Sometimes, I’ve even had dinners with people I’ve met on my trip! That’s the most fun.
@@BlondeInTheAir Facetiming with friends while at dinner is a great idea! I don’t know if I really have a favorite place to go solo. I did a great trip all over Arizona solo for a week. I also went to Miami solo and loved it. Many years ago I went to Thailand for 5 months solo and that was quite an adventure. It was really great most of the time. I went to Australia solo but did sign up for different tours and stuff so I was with groups a lot. The next trips on my radar are Puerto Rico, Greece, Tampa/St Pete, Palm Springs, Seattle and Portland, San Antonio and Austin. So many cool places to go!
In the touristic areas surely you will find people that speak Spanish and English! But all over the island 🏝 the majority speak Spanish but you will always find someone who understands English. English is taught in schools since pre school and we have many bilingual schools. Tourists are always welcome to enjoy the beauties of our island of Puerto Rico! 🇵🇷
You can get to the beach across from the capital. You must walk a few steps more. It is a beautiful beach. I have been many times to the beach.
Amazing!!! Thank you for sharing this with us Chris. 😊
Thank you. you were moving the video too much..
Thank you for your feedback Bhaskar! Sorry about that! Ive been on the fence about getting a camera/phone stabilizer because of the high cost but it’s something I should definitely invest in.
Real mofongo is made with pork belly, so you did eat meat.
I told them not to put meat in it.
Who cares about vegetarian options in San Juan? This sucks.
I am a vegetarian Bob, that’s why!
@@BlondeInTheAir I was worried about finding vegetarian options in PR, your video was super helpful and informative!
This is wonderful to hear Amber!! Thank you so much!!!! 😊
