      It did, back then at least.
      I paid 300€ when i bought my Eee4G on release, the last one at Saturn in Essen i might add, and it could access everything. And i still love that small bug, DeusEx runs flawlessly on it and if you solder in an USB stick on one of the internal ports you even have enough storage for everything.

      @@peterisaac16 Yeah!... And those specs aren't far away from my almost 10 years old AMD based laptop, apart SSD storage and better, even if same amount of RAM. That is impressive!
      AMD is simply far away from Intel these days pretty much on everything else. And they seem to be a single notch below NVIDIA on top gaming video cards. Give them one or 2 years and they'll likely to surpass them even at that and totally reign the microchip market entirely!...

    I've been testing this CPU for more than a year and I can assure you this CPU is more than enough for daily tasks. It has similar performance than a laptop core i3 7th gen even with half the threads as it has turbo. In our company we use laptops with this CPU for lots of tasks paired with 8GB of RAM and we don't feel it's slowing down anything at all compared to desktops, which are i3 7th gen. Of course, a desktop i3 is faster, but that does not mean we are in need of that amount of power. They will be more futureproof than a laptop CPU? of course, but we are talking about a laptop here.
    The issue here is that if the CPU can't handle 1080p-2160p graphics it means it's just crap. When the society based their computers for the gaming capabilities, if a CPU wasn't made for playing games in the first place? are we living in a parallel world or we just do not want to accept that a laptop is for working and a desktop is the one suitable for playing (among other tasks)? I also want the battery of my phone to last years without charge, but it does not mean I have to create an alternate reality and think that is actually real.

    If anyone's curious, I own a laptop with the same chipset and have extensively played and test a lot more games, so here are some benchmark results. (rough estimate as for some of the games I wasn't actually "benchmarking", just playing the game with MSI Afterburner running and periodically checking the framerate)
    Exact Specs
    Acer Aspire 3 w/
    Athlon 3050u
    Vega 2 Graphics
    12 gb of ram (10 usable bc of integrated graphics)
    1 tb mechanical hard drive - some games have been run off an external usb 3 mechanical hard drive
    TombRaider(2013) (Built in benchmark)
    (Normal/Medium)
    dx9 - 720p = 44 fps avg
    dx9 - 540p = 63fps avg
    dx11 - 720p = 38fps avg
    dx9 - 540p = 54 fps avg
    Driver San Fransisco
    (High w/ max anti-aliasing)
    720p = 56 fps average
    Cod BO2 (Multiplayer)
    (Low with high textures) (Competitive)
    720p = 102 fps (Very rough estimate - almost always over 100 fps)
    BF3 (Multiplayer)
    (Medium)
    576p = 43 fps (again a rough estimate - always above 30)
    BF4 (Multiplayer)
    (Low)
    720p w/ 75% res scale and fxaa anti-aliasing = 54 fps (again a rough estimate - always above 30)
    Mirror's Edge
    (Maxed out - NO PhysX (causes massive fps drops on any scene or level with smashed/smashing glass))
    720p = 34 fps (again an estimate - always above 30)
    (Low settings)
    900p = 54fps (estimate - always above 50fps)
    Farming sim 2017
    (Medium settings)
    720p = locked 60 with vsync
    Any pre 2013 source engine game (Disk copys of HL2, CSS, ect)
    720p = basically a 300fps locked at high(Source engine's default max framerate)
    WARNING! = an up to date version of any source game, such as the newest version of TF2 or CSGO, will perform a lot worse than the above mentioned - this is because valve did a massive source engine overhaul in 2013 for all source engine games which caused them to run a lot poorer on any low end machine - Because of this I recommend sourcing a pre 2013 version of these games(The only legal way to do this is to buy a disk based copy of the desired game and then prevent steam from updating it, by either cracking the game yourself or finding a way to prevent steams auto updater)
    To conclude - Most Xbox 360 gen games or older will run perfectly. These are just some of the games I enjoy playing and thought Id share some results for others to see :)
    I may upload a video to my channel of me testing a bunch of games on this laptop, but I doubt it as I am pretty busy.
    Edit - Would like to mention that this chipset does a really good job at wii u emulation for some reason. It can play any 2.5 or 2d game great. If you are willing to put up with not 100% speed (Its actually not bad, because many wii u games are have a built in dynamic speed adjust, a good example being mc8, It will run at "full speed" even if its only running at 45-50 fps, causing no choppy sound or lag). If the above is playable, than you can basically play every game except BOTW, as even with tons of hacks it will only run at like sub 20 fps. Some personal favorites that run pretty good with little tweaks are Yoshi's Wooly World, Wind Waker HD(make sure it runs at 720p instead of 1080p and it'll run at full speed), and MC8.

      Sorry for late reply but Linux works great on Ubuntu 21.04 with full hardware support. Ubuntu 20.04 LTS can't change brightness and Linux mint has display issues. Cloudready works well but didn't it stop getting updated after Google bought them?

    A chip like this can play lots of indie games though, if you play those more often. But it's definitely not a AAA gaming machine lol

    • @RandomFandomMediaGroup
      @RandomFandomMediaGroup 3 года назад +1

      Old AAA would run great.
      Games like Just Cause 2 (which honestly is the best in the Just Cause series as it has way fewer bugs, better optimization, and lacks denuvo) would run great.
      Skyrim did pretty well in the video too, and it's a much better game than those "freemium" MTX-laden titles.

      Power of AMD. I have no hope for Intel anymore even for higher end market as they still stuck at obsolete 10nm while AMD is at 5nm and 4nm for some laptop now. I’m so disappointed with how power hungry and how hot can my i5-1250P get. I bought a wrong laptop for game design class. I’m probably gonna go all AMD on a laptop like I did with my workstation computer at home.

    Very relevant video now that the Ayn Loki Zero is coming out for 200 USD
    A 6 inch 720 p windows 10 game handheld with dual analog sticks (with LED lights! *drool*), fast wifi for streaming etc is sooo cool! It will still run many games and costs far less then half of the steamdeck :)
    And TBH, 30 fps 720p GTA V would be perfectly playable on a 200 USD handheld as far as I am concerned. It's a handheld. 720p 30fps GTA V still looks great on a 6 inch screen and is amazing for 200 USD!

I currently have 8gb in it (2x4gb) and will most likely bump it up to a 12gb (1x4gb/1x8gb) and give my 4gb ram to my brother's laptop to top it off to a 12gb as well.

    At 01:59 I'm pretty sure that's a connection for a sata 3 ribbon cable just south of the i/o. It says HDD there on the edge. I bet you could just source any ol' ribbon cable from the last 10 or more years and shove it in there. Not much has changed in the whole sata 3 scene for a hot minute. If you inspect the empty area closely on the side away from the battery, the bezel appears to be able to accommodate a slide-in style adapter.

    Just cannot agree on a dual core config. For 2021 min specs should be a quad core with 8gb of ram and 1080p display. Storage should have a min of 120GB SSD. The Ryzen 5 2500U is a way better choice than the Athlon here.
