the 5 ton 6x6 yall have could be kitted out with a few utility boxes , an air compressor, welder, pivot parts, tools and a plethora of other items such as a bench vice etc., making it a moving workshop, that way you would not have to keep shuttling back and forth between the shop and project site

.... Empty gets stuck ..... back in the day when every pick-me-up was two wheel drive, in the winter we would put weight in the back to get more traction .. with the big o'l army truck you have lots of rubber on the ground reducing the downwards psi and the only wheels that have traction in soft ground is the steer axel ..... think of PSI on those back tires, they are just about floating when empty ..... do you have a scale on the farm, weigh the steer axel and figure out the PSI and then weigh the rear of the truck and do the same calculation .... the way it is now is good for doing brake stands .... I know nothing on the matter of running in sand and river beds but this is the first thing that came to mind when you were talking about it ..... why are pivot tires air and rubber, would steel wheels like they they had on tractors back in the day. Just seems there has to be a better way .... Hell ya to the outdoors and that beautiful country side you were exploring .... burnt wood has to be havested and to the mill within a year otherwise it is destined for the chipper ..... thx for the share .. as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .... have fun be safe, save our oceans ....

Farming is pretty laid back the new equipment theres auto steer so you just sit there on a field with no stumps or anything and you only work when the weathers good...logging on the other hand is alot more difficult you stumps the terrain is steep soft and muddy you work in all weather conditions from 30 above to 40 below zero c and you still have to operate the machines there us no auto steer or anything and 10 times more functions then any farm tractor or combine

When a pivot stops or gets stuck, would it help to have a drone?.
You could send the drone out into the field to "have a look" so you dont waste energy carrying bags of lava rock to a pivot that has a flat tire 😋😉 hehe..

I am curious why you guys do not either use tracks or SOLID tires which will never go flat? 🤔

They log down here in the south, kinda like you farm. Weyerhauser, potlatch, JP Morgan, are some of the main land owners that own hundreds of thousands of acres, they contract logging companies. Logging is really really expensive. It also tears the body up believe it or not, I know two men in their 50s who can't walk anymore, because they rode in heavy equipment in the woods all their life.

What's with all the trees? When I farmed with my dad in 1958 (age 6) there were trees within the city of Marquette, Aurora, and Grand Island..... but on the plains the only trees were on the boundaries between farms in a very narrow row. There were also some trees along the Platte (along with small Crawdads and some Sandhill Cranes) and a great deal more water than you apparently have today. I would say 1-2 feet deep, but still with sand patches.
PS: I have been doing some online research on tornadoes in Nebraska. On average (and if my Edge searches are accurate) Marquette seems to have had more tornadoes than anywhere else in Nebraska. Interestingly, "Tornado Alley" has been moving easterly in the last decade or so. The Alley used to run from Texas, north right smack through Oklahoma, and then, continuing northerly, into Kansas and Nebraska. Nowadays, with the easterly shift, there are an increasing amount of tornadoes in Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Missouri (like the real bad one in Springfield). Has your family encountered plains tornadoes before?
PSS: I mentioned earlier that I was driving tractors at age 6. My dad was very careful about this, as when he was in public school in Hampton (in Hamilton County) there were kids in his class with amputated limbs from when they accidentally got drug into Harvesters and Pickers. So please watch out for that long hair. I don't know how often this happened to young children.
PSSS: Your video skills are top-notch. Keep going. I like the nostalgia.
Question: You are Swedish and my family was Danish. Back in the first part of the 20th century, how did Nebraska Swedes and Nebraska Danes get along? I know there was tension, back then, between Danes and Germans (which I hope has by now totally evaporated). Do you know what Ebelskivers are? My great-grandfather built the Danish Lutheran Church on display at the Stuhr museum in Grand Island.

I wish we had that kind of space out here in the Netherlands, but every piece of nature is closed for driving through. I know the Netherlands isn't that big but all those nature-freeks have a strong voice out here so as soon as it looks like a string of grass is touched they protest and make sure it is closed for traffic. I had a Landrover once but since there is no fun in driving around anymore I switched to an old Goldwing motorbike to sense some freedom on my travels. For as long as it takes.....🤞. But hey, it still is great seeing you guys have all that fun and pleasure. A good balance with all that hard farmers work👊😎

Ouch! LAurA. That hurt! Right on the forehead. 😈
My dad did a brief logging job in Wyoming near the Idaho border way back in '73.
It's nice to see that the same equipment type I used to operate is still being used today.

I think logging is great to do on a farm, great for making biochar and compost for adding more organic matter and water retention to the soil.
I think birch is the best for the biochar, but any is better than none.

I was eating the corn that was in my frozen dinner today and I had an intriguing thought for you. It might be fun and interesting to follow your harvested corn and determine how it's eventually used. Will they sell it as fresh cobs? Will they can it? Will they make corn syrup out of it? Will they use it to make corn flakes? I know that I'd find it fascinating to know.

Please please please. Always use chain to tie down equipment. Class 70 chain should be used for highway transport. there should be a chain every 8ft. That 6x6 weights 8 tons, yes? I love you guys and want to see you around for many years. There are many videos on how to properly chain equipment. I know you have gotten by till now so chalk it up as luck and be safe!!!

I don’t know anything about farming but can say logging has its fair share of problems and they seem to hit all at once usually after a few good days or week at best but wouldn’t trade it for anything.
