The creation of a "Master Combat Badge" breaks the band of brotherhood that the CIB "USED TO" represent. Just as the creation of the CAB reduced the prestige of the CIB in direct disregard of the initial purpose of the creation of the CIB. The CIB was created to increase the morale of Infantry during WWII. Because the job of the Infantry was and continues to be the most dangerous job in the Armed Forces. The CIB was meant to recognize those soldiers who were either chosen of volunteered for Infantry. Whose primary job was, and is to: "Close with and destroy the enemy in close combat". That is not the discription of any other military occupational specialty and acknowledging this, the war department decided that the infantry should be duly recognized. The creation of a "Master Combat Badge" indicates that "some" Combat Infantry are better than other Combat infantry because one has passed a qualification course and the other has not. Has a soldier who has earned an EIB as a Private and deployed to a Combat zone as a Specialist a "Master of Infantry" of his or her craft? Is a Soldier from WWII a lesser Soldier than a GWOTEM soldier because he was Awarded a CIB "only" for fighting in Normandy? While there may be merit to identifying those with both the CIB and EIB. Classifying one individual as a "Master" and the other as less than, completely denegrates the meaning and intent of the Honor and places a permanent wedge between all of those Infantrymen that have served honorably in defense of the nation.
