Hello, thank you for the clear explanation, Could you please tell me how I can listen to an inserted audio in a word document using my phone? I tried using both word and docs apps and i just couldn't listen to the audio?
@@hodabeng5790Sorry for the delayed response! I couldn't play the audio file on Android, either. After doing some research, it appears that the audio files aren't currently available on the Android version of Word. I encourage you to report this issue to Microsoft through the Feedback option in your desktop version of Word so they know it is an important feature to add.
Thank you for watching! The audio files generally won't work after a conversion to PDF. However, if you have Adobe Acrobat, you can add the audio files from the Edit PDF toolbar. I wish you all the best with your project!
Hi Erin, great tutorial, but I am soooo frustrated about the restrictions of the icon element. I want a larger image to be clickable to start the mp3. If I enlarge the box as is then the caption font size is also enlarged proportionally and it doesn't look good. Do you know of a way to use a larger image or is there a way to overlay an image to the object and setup a click event? I'd prefer not to link to an external mp3 file.
That is a great question! In theory, you are supposed to be able to change the icon image by selecting "Change Icon" in the Object dialog box. However, I just tried it and it didn't work. If I find a workaround, I will be sure to share that info. Thank you for watching!
@@erinwrightwriting I can change the icon image, that's no problem, but it has to be an .ico and when I enlarge it the caption also gets bigger plus lots of pixelation on the image.
Great question! Word doesn't have a built-in audio recorder other than for transcriptions and comments. However, Windows includes an audio recorder called Sound Recorder (Voice Recorder in older versions of Windows) that works well. The audio files will be automatically saved in a file called Sound Recorder that will (probably) appear in your Documents file in Windows. Thank you for watching!
@@erinwrightwriting thank you! yes I'm aware...so then the sound clip can be inserted with the insert...object...then link. Is that correct? Is so can a sound clip also be inserted in a comment in Review?
@@elenij3781 Yes, it sounds like you have the process correct. Unfortunately, objects such as audio files can't currently be embedded into comments. You can add a link to an audio file stored elsewhere, though.
Thank you for watching! Word for mobile doesn't have the same functionality. However, if your audio file is stored in the cloud or online where you can get an URL, you can add the link using the Insert Hyperlink tool from the main toolbar. Good luck!
All the steps shown here are listed with images on my website at erinwrightwriting.com/audio-files-in-microsoft-word/. Thank you for watching!
Hi! Extremely clear description of how embedding/linking files relates to word document (e.g., file size, file access), thanks for the info!
I really appreciate your positive feedback, Paul! Thank you for watching!

Thank you for watching! I don't know the answer to that question off hand, but I can certainly take a look. Are you using an Android or iPhone?
Thank you so much for your time, I'm using Android

So how do you create an audio file in Word to insert? Is there a MS app like Google Mote for google docs that allow this function?

How can I lock my documents and play audio same time
Thank you for watching! Just to clarify, by lock, do you mean save the file as Read Only?
Thanks
