I have a semester exam tomorrow. But I don't have a clue about any of the chapters that I have to study. So I set out searching the Internet to find brief yet informative explanations to solve problems such as the sequencing problem and luckily, I find this video that has saved me a lot of time and got my work done. Thanks a lot. Continue saving clueless college students like me, and god shall bless you.

+AMIT KUMAR hello, thank you for the positive response and suggestion. In my observation when we keep a white background, it causes more strain to our eyes. So that's why I opted to dark background. But surely will take your suggestion into consideration as well. ✌😊
Kind of confusing! How to make a sequence could have been explained better Other than that amazing efforts! Can you put a reply to this comment explaining how exactly are we supposed to plot when 2 or 3 numbers are same?
Sorry if couldn't make it more easy with the sequence making part. Thank you so much for the positive feedback 😊 When 2-3 numbers are same(particularly for the same machine) then you can go ahead with any of the 2-3 values. When 2-3 numbers are same for different machines, that example is explained at 2:03 time code.where job 1 takes 3units on Mc A & job 7 takes 3units on Mc B. Hope I tried to simplify this better ✌️
dude there is a mistake in ur initial sequencing when there are two equal minimum value on the same machine like that of job (2,3) time on machine 1 is considered and the one with higher machine 1 value goes on right most possible block and the other one goes to the block just before it so your final sequence will be (1-4-5-2-3-7-6) because M1(3)>M1(2)
Very good question, And your doubt is right because since job 2 & 3 have both same times (i.e 10) for machine B they can be interchanged. So if you take 2nd job at 4th position and 3rd job at 5th position it will be fine.. Once again, very good query
+Sidharth Dash hey buddy, thank you so much for the positive response. Glad this video helped you. Keep up the support and do share the video with your friends and contacts 😎✌

+afroz khan hello, thank you so much for such a positive response buddy. This means a lot to me 😇 and I'm happy to hear that that you liked this video. Do share it with your friends and contacts 😎✌😬
This was helpful. But I have a query while finding the optimal sequence of jobs, you chose the least time of MA, J1 but there was another option of MB, J7 what if I chose the latter? And same thing when the time was 10 on 3 diff jobs.
Thank you Dhivisha, glad to hear this positive feedback from you. Please do subscribe to our channel and & definitely spread the knowledge with your friends by sharing this video. Thats the biggest help and support you can provide ✌😇
+Visheshh Mehtaa thats sometimes the wait times an the end become equal when we add them up this making the total elapsed time the same. Also depending on which machine is doing what job, the timings might change cause a job has 2 different times on different machines. That's why it's necessary to first find the optimal sequence ✌️
Okay, umm see each of the jobs are supposed to be processed on both the machines correct ? in our example Machine A will be processing the jobs first and then that job will be passed on to machine B correct ? So if you see during the optimal sequence calculation the jobs which start from left to right are for machine A. This ensures that the Jobs with the smallest or lower times for completions will be coming first. So in my calculation you can see that Job no 1 is placed first from the left cause it requires only 3hrs to machine A. Now after calculating all the values for Machine A in the second table if you see, when we move on to the processing of Machine B, the machine had to wait for 3hrs for the job 1 to complete on machine A. If I would have chosen any other Job first for Machine A, Machine B would have to wait more for that long. Also in this case, Machine A has higher priority and first all the jobs will be processed by machine A only and then passed on to Machine B. So thats how changes in the Optimal sequence changes the overall completion and idle times on the entire system combined. ✌
+srikar bharadwaj you're always welcome buddy. Happy to know that this helped you. Keep up the support and do share the video with your friends and contacts 😇✌
I suppose we can but I went in the ascending order of the job numbers from left to right in this case. There;s no rule as such though. Maybe you can try to chose job3 in 5th position and then calculate the timings as see if total elapsed time and total idle time is matching. If yes then your doubt is solved. if no then the outcome which has the least idle time and elapsed time is the optimum outcome ✌

Hello, Job number 2 and job number 3 has different time values on machine 1. I did cross check this numerical, seems correct to me.
are you sure about this??
Harsh , yes I too have same doubt ... The sequence must be ...2 3....
vedio was helpfull....but a doubt left and that is why didn't you take 2nd job at the 4th position and 3rd at 5th position from left to right??
Very good question, And your doubt is right because since job 2 & 3 have both same times (i.e 10) for machine B they can be interchanged. So if you take 2nd job at 4th position and 3rd job at 5th position it will be fine..

Do we get the same idle time and elapsed time when we take any other random sequence in place of optimum sequence?
+Visheshh Mehtaa no, you'll get higher value of elapsed time which is not optimum. That's why first optimum sequence needs to be calculated ✌️😇
Simple Snippets When I tried with various other sequences, Some random sequences gave the same answer and some did not. Why is that so?
+Visheshh Mehtaa thats sometimes the wait times an the end become equal when we add them up this making the total elapsed time the same. Also depending on which machine is doing what job, the timings might change cause a job has 2 different times on different machines.
That's why it's necessary to first find the optimal sequence ✌️
Simple Snippets Sorry But Actually did not understand what you said..🤔

Can't we choose job3 in the 5th position?
I suppose we can but I went in the ascending order of the job numbers from left to right in this case. There;s no rule as such though.
