  • The North West Passage
    Some of you may be puzzled by what is this NorthWest Passage. Many have asked how far north of the Canadian mainland is it? Isn’t it some sort of nautical trade route? Is this the route Columbus was trying to find? The answer is… none of the above… if you go by way of motorcycle in the 21st century.
    Dave Peterson and his crew at BestRest developed an off-road adventure route that runs from the Pacific Ocean, eastward across the top of Washington, skirting the Canadian border for most of the way. It then continues into the panhandle of Idaho where one can easily connect to the Northern starting point of the Idaho Back Country Discovery Route. But, even so, the route can be taken northeast into Montana where it connects with the Continental Divide Route at Roosville MT. It is a nearly all dirt route that goes through outposts along the way, no major towns or cities. So bring your camping gear.
    The route is designed for mid-to-large Adventure Motorcycles. Leaving Seattle and back provides about 6 days of Adventure riding through backcountry in the remotest areas in the Continental United States. All the needed information is free on the Best Rest website, including GPS tracks, Daily Itineraries, Maps and a link to a video that you should also watch. They did a really great job for the community.
    This video production is our personal experience in riding this route. Some video footage is from previous trips to round out the route in the same year to fill in holes. We hope you enjoy this as much as we enjoyed putting it together for you. As always, we insist that you to Ride Right, Ride Safe and Ride Responsibly in the back country.
    Thanks for riding with us. ~GrizzLee

      My only regret is that I didn't start riding when I was younger...I will be back out there as soon as I can get my leg over the bike! As long as I have the Grizz along to pick me up when I wobble!

      Lori is exceptional. She is scrappy for sure. What I love about her is that she has never let things like this set her back. We've gone on many moto trips, hiking and kayaking expeditions together and those times when it got rough, she always came out the other end stronger and appreciative of the experiences we've done together. Many thanks fro riding with us. ~GrizzLee

    Thank you both for all of the energy you have put into this video. I am a fellow adventure biker and I know how much work the filming and editing is. I am based in Vancouver BC and always look forward to your videos!!! I am looking forward to doing this route when border opens up again!! It looks awesome! We have such amazing riding in the Pacific North West and I am grateful for not just the entertainment value of your videos but also the educational and spiritual enlightenment!! Awesome job guys. Hello there Lori and Grizz, I have been following your adventures and I absolutely love the way you film/what you film and the editing, but with this one, the soundtrack seems to be a bit loud at times and I have problems hearing what you/both say. Maybe it's just me. Anyway, keep up the good travels and see you on the road hopefully this summer! Cheers

      @RubiKonAdventures  3 года назад +1

      Yes indeed. Not as technical as the BDRs. There are some short sections... as you saw, but nothing too bad for a medium skilled rider on a big bike couldn't handle. I hope you get out there and enjoy it. ~GrizzLee

      Oh yes. We were seriously thinking of getting a rental van and taking Lori to a clinic. The only clinic nearby was unable to take an xray until Monday. We arrived on sat. Lori, being more manly than me, said "screw it, I'm riding home". She does have a tear in her left hip and is scheduled for surgery within a couple of weeks. The covid has really taxed the hospitals and her ability to get in in a timely manner. She's tough. ~Grizz

    Hey Grizz, Wolfman here. I've watched 1 &2 @ 3 times. Love your videos. Always have. Question: Did Lori change her riding name from Looksha?

    • @RubiKonAdventures
      @RubiKonAdventures  3 года назад

      We (my son and I) gave her that name because she has a Necky Looksha Kayak. We always thought it fit her. She has not warmed up to that. So we dropped the name for now. Thanks for riding with us. ~Grizz

    • @LoriOnTheBrightside
      @LoriOnTheBrightside 3 года назад

      Hahahaha - I was prepared to tell the grand story of the christening of the name Looksha and my valiant attempts to embrace it...but truthfully, if it gets me out on the bike, you can call me anything you want! :)

    Question for ya. Im limited on time. From Arlington, for an experienced guy how many days do you think it would take you to ride over to Idaho drop down to Coeur d'Alene and run back on Highway 2?

    • @RubiKonAdventures
      @RubiKonAdventures  2 года назад

      If you rush it.. maybe 5 days. Maybe less if you skip some of the list things to see and experience along the way. Be Safe out there. ~Grizz
