Do u suggest old people travel to HK with this strict quarantine? Any room with balcony and have some fresh air in your hotel or hotel u know? Thanks for the great video!!
I don't see why not. - if I (a usually active person) can do it I'm sure others can. Most people in HK at the moment and all through summer avoid going out and spend all day inside in the AC anyway. "Fresh air" is something people do not want right now (nor is the air in HK particularly fresh at other times lol). Nina Hotel does have some limited number of balcony rooms and they are always fully booked ahead of time.
Love your spirit indeed! I am from Australia and I’am going to experience the same, wonder if I can order alcohol from say food panda or others to deliver to the room so I can enjoy some time, since I will spend my Christmas alone in the room 😜😅
Yes, you can absolutely order in alcohol and other treats! Hopefully your hotel will have decent enough food, but if not definitely order in some Christmas treats and get on calls with your family and friends ❤ Maybe make some friends with those in your hotel who are also on their own over Christmas.
Correct. You only have 'self monitoring' to be aware of symptoms, and you have to go to the community testing centres for another 2 tests, but no restrictions on where you go (although some places might have their own restrictions).
Thank you so much for sharing this! If possible, I would love to know what you brought or what you prepared for this 21 days quarantine such as your small pan or some puzzles etc. :)
Small portable cooker is a must! Also your favourite condiments (chilli paste/oil/sauce is a common hit), some way to do exercise (e.g. yoga mat), and your electronics. If your hotel doesn't provide these, you'll also want cleaning cloths, sponge, dish washing liquid, and maybe a little bit of laundry detergent. But most importantly, prepare your mindset and use the 21 days to the best (rather than some people who spend 21 days complaining about being in 'prison').
Hiii I just want to ask if I can choose the hotel I'm going to stay in for 21 days? Or the HK govt will just assign the designated hotels for each visitor? Btw, I'm from the PH and planning to go to HK to visit my boyfriend. This has been informative! Thank you so much! :)
Hey - yes, you have to book your own hotel. They are very limited so make sure you secure your hotel before you book your flight. Please also check the rules very carefully. At the moment, no visitors from Group A countries (which includes the Philippines) are allowed. The only way to do that is if you spend at least 22 days outside of all Group A countries before you fly to Hong Kong, and you have to be fully vaccinated.
Is the day 12 to 19 like, they'll test you everyday? Or they'll just test you on 12 and 19? Do we need individual rooms for 2 peoples? Because me and my mom is confused if is it required to have 2 rooms? Please, your video is good tho, hoping for your answr😄😄😄
During the quarantine they test you every 2-3 days - depends on the length of quarantine... but they also keep changing the schedule. They will tell you when you get to the hotel and everything is arranged so no need to worry about it. As for rooms, you can share with your mom - as long as you arrive on the same flight (even non related people can share rooms up to the capacity allowed by the hotel).
A former inmate at the hotel gave it to me when they checked out. But I've known others who've bought it (quite a few listed online these days) or rented it for the quarantine.
Thank you for your content! Im planning to go shenzhen in few week but hong kong flight is almost %60 cheaper than than shenzhen. Can i get in Shenzhen after Hong Kong quarantine? And what is estimated cost of hotel quarantine in HK? And can i have online shopping deliveries (not just food) to hotel room? Thank you!!
If you go to Shenzhen from HK, you'll have to do quarantine (2 weeks for China I think) again. Hotel quarantine in HK you are looking at anything from about HK$10,000 minimum for the 21 days - closer to HK$20k if you want somewhere comfortable like the Nina Hotel I was in. And you need to be a valid resident of HK to enter HK in the first place, even just to quarantine and transit. I don't think it's a good plan. Online shopping is fine - I ordered from Taobao and it got delivered fine. All the best!
I paid around HKD19,000 for the 21 days for my Hill View room. I believe the price is slightly cheaper now and the City View rooms are around $2k cheaper.
Thank you for sharing your experience!! I had a question in regards to booking the hotel room - do you pay the amount when you arrive at the hotel or is payment taken prior to your arrival? I've received an itinerary reservation number confirming my rooms but I'm unsure.
Hi, I am planning to go hong kong from Singapore, do I need to buy a local sim card beforehand. Can I go ahead with my local number at the arrival airport for all the download of app?pls help thanks
The app is no longer needed. You still need to fill in the Health Declaration form to get the QR code but any number is ok doesn't have to be HK number.
Yup, and hotel rooms in HK are pretty tiny. Actually even more crazy is Macau that says arrivals from India, Pakistan and Philippines have to do 28 days hotel quarantine!!
Excellent video! Very informative and engaging. I had 2 questions. Do babies under 2 yrs need to do covid test at the airport and during the Q period at hotel? Also, did you see any preferential treatment being given to people travelling with kids like allowing them to go first for tests etc?
Yes - everyone needs to get a COVID test regardless of age. I'm not too clear how they deal with any infants who for whatever reason can't do a nasal swab - probably best to ask the Facebook group if you have specific concerns. I did not see any priority for travellers with kids (there was family with kids in front of me), but the line moved quickly when I was there.
Yes, it’s definitely one of the best value options. Of course if your budget is higher then you can get better, but for the price it was perfect for me.
I am thinking to book the same hotel for quarantine, and the hotel website is asking what time do i expect to arrive, do you know should i fill in the arrival time once i land in hong kong or should i fill in the time i expect to leave the airport? Another question is How long is the entire process from you land until you leave the airport? Much appreciated your response.
I think arrival time is arrival at the hotel, roughly 4-5 hours after you land. Butt don't worry, they'll ask you to email them your exact flight details. Check out the separate video I made of the arrivals process in HK airport.
The hotel provides the hot pot / cooker, or you bought it before ? The food you were cooking is provided by the hotel or is delivered from the outside ?
I brought the portable cooker. I don't think any hotel will give you a cooker like that if it's not a studio apartment. All the food I was reheating was from the hotel. I didn't order delivery a single time in my 21'days 😀
Normal shops aren't open. And I don't remember the one duty free shop after you collect your luggage and clear customs to be open, though I'm not sure. Best to buy them where you're flying from.
@@XennialTraveller Thanks for the tip. One other question....is it possible to land in HKG, cross the border to Shenzhen, and then quarantine there? Or do I quarantine in HKG, then cross to Shenzhen? I'm trying to figure out the best way to get to Shenzhen. Thanks!
@@brez9665 I believe it is not possible to 'transit' in HKIA to Shenzhen (or indeed anywhere in Mainland China) at present. Therefore you'll have to do quarantine in HKG, then you'll be subject to another quarantine upon entering Mainland China. Best to fly direct into Mainland China from wherever you are. www.hongkongairport.com/en/transport/mainland-connection/
Thank you for your video, it is very informative ! Do you have to pay for the covid tests made in hotel ? Do you have to make an appointment with a medical center for someone to come do it? Thanks in advance, i am quite anxious i dont find any informations about that
Everything is arranged by the government - you don't have to do anything for those. They will come to your hotel room at the fixed days. After you finish your quarantine (if less than 21 days) you will have to go and get further tests done (free) - but instructions will be given to you while you're in quarantine.
@Xennial Traveller Another question now that I am in quarantine 😅 The air con is super loud even at its lowest level fan (52decibels) are we allowed to turn it off at least for a moment ? Can they check if the air con is on or not ? Thanks for your answers
@@wizmangaloulou6232 Please consult your hotel. I did turn my AC off at times, but be aware that in HK summer you shouldn't keep it off for long periods or the humidity is extremely high. If for some reason nothing can be done about the noise, then consider playing some white noise or other background noise.
@@XennialTraveller Ok thank you ! I will see that, I'm not the first one complaining about the air con noise in this hostel from what I saw on Maps. Have a nice day !
You call the Department of Health who will arrange accordingly. I've known people who've had to be taken to hospital or had emergency dental treatment, but these really have to be emergency. reasons. Others have had virtual consults and then had any required medication delivered to them.
Thank you for sharing this information. I am a student who will arrive to Hong Kong in a few days. What hotel did you live in and would you share how much you spend on these 21 days? Food and the room. Do you have any other hotels that you recommend?
I stayed at Nina Hotel Island South (ruclips.net/video/xtix-ZdTKok/видео.html). The prices are all clearly listed in the list of Designated Quarantine Hotels - best check that since prices may have changed since I stayed. Hmmm, I hear hotels are pretty fully booked, so if you're arriving in a few days I hope you've got somewhere booked! If not, you probably don't have much choice
thank you for your amazing video, I have one doubt regarding the covid tests and shuttle bus service. should I reserve for them before reach HK airport or there is no need for reservation? Thank you again for your video
You're welcome. All the things upon arrival are all arranged. You can't reserve etc and everyone just goes through the same process start to end (unless arriving from mainland China). No need to pay anything either n
Current lowest room rate is HK$770/night (all inclusive of the 3 meals, etc). But the price is going up in December I think to around HK$950/night. Please check the linked official list and the hotel for more info.
From August 9, fully vaccinated people who are not in the Group A high risk countries (Brazil, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Russia, South Africa and the United Kingdom) can enter Hong Kong, but will be subject to 7/14 day quarantine. Otherwise, still not allowed.
Each hotel is different, and can vary widely. That's why I strongly recommend choosing wisely. I hope you've already booked because I hear that pretty much all hotels are fully booked up till the end of July except for a few less popular ones.
Do I get this right, you´re tested positive with CoVid 19 or Corona variant Delta? Ok, stay inside dont go out for next 3 weeks and do test yourself regularly!
In Hong Kong they put you in hospital when you’re positive until you are no longer infectious (roughly 10 days), bit now they add on 2 weeks quarantine to that. 3 weeks has no basis whatsoever.
I'm afraid you heard wrong. The only possible no quarantine that has been announced is the Travel Bubble with Singapore - and there are some very specific conditions. I would be willing to bet money that quarantine will be in place till the end of 2021 and the only exceptions would be any specific 'travel bubble' arrangements and MAYBE with other places in Greater China.
This is a standard Hill View room. All the standard rooms are the same size (huge!) and layout. I'm going to make a video review specifically of Nina Hotel's quarantine package - probably out next weekend :)
When you left the room at midnight did you just leave on your own or did you need to call someone? And is there anyone working that late in the evening?
I didn't leave at midnight though you can. Hotels ask you to pre arrange what time you’re checking out. And yes, most hotels if not all will have 24 hour reception/staff.
I’m in quarantine now - day 2 - & boy I wish I watched this before booking the hotel. I’m not allowed to smoke or order food like fruit or biscuits 😂 I’m treating this experience like being in prison 😂 One thing I hope to get out of this experience is by losing weight 💯
Better do some exercise then... Wait... why aren't you allowed to order food?! My hotel gave lots of fruits, and you can easily order extra food deliveries - including groceries from FoodPanda or even supermarkets.

Hong kong, Macau and china are the best control for incoming cases in the world. That’s why we got no local confirm cases. This will be a different approach with other part of the world. However, this can ensure our economy can go normal and better. The government is now going to negotiate with the mainland and further increase the COVID tests within the quarantine period. I hope most of the people can be patient with that because we need to corporate with the Chinese government in order to reopen our boarder with the Mainland. Business travelling with the Mainland will resume soon and it’s essential to most of the economic activities.

Hopefully your hotel will have decent enough food, but if not definitely order in some Christmas treats and get on calls with your family and friends ❤ Maybe make some friends with those in your hotel who are also on their own over Christmas.
Thanks heaps for this! With your inspiration I believe I will enjoy it or at least I will stay very positive about this 💕💕💕
Hello, after ur 21 days of quarantine, are u free to go out? I mean anywhere? no more another days of quarantine extension in ur home?
Correct. You only have 'self monitoring' to be aware of symptoms, and you have to go to the community testing centres for another 2 tests, but no restrictions on where you go (although some places might have their own restrictions).
@@XennialTraveller thanks for the info
This is Amazing :) Thank you so much for sharing - can I know where you got the small treadmill? did you buy it or rent?
@@XennialTraveller Thank you!
Great Vid! How much did the hotel quarantine cost?
I paid around HKD19,000 for the 21 days for my Hill View room. I believe the price is slightly cheaper now and the City View rooms are around $2k cheaper.
@@XennialTraveller thank you so much for the reply!
Thank you for sharing your experience!!
I had a question in regards to booking the hotel room - do you pay the amount when you arrive at the hotel or is payment taken prior to your arrival? I've received an itinerary reservation number confirming my rooms but I'm unsure.
It depends on the hotel. Most will at least need a credit card to guarantee. Many will take full payment before you arrive.
21?!?!?! dang bro. and i thought i had it worse cause philippines is 14 days. didn't know other countries had longer hotel quarantines.
@@XennialTraveller Thanks a lot for your response!
Glad I found this video. Will fly to HK soon. So I suppose you chose this hotel based on your research? Thank you.
Yes, it’s definitely one of the best value options. Of course if your budget is higher then you can get better, but for the price it was perfect for me.
What are the room rates and how much does the daily food cost?
I am thinking to book the same hotel for quarantine, and the hotel website is asking what time do i expect to arrive, do you know should i fill in the arrival time once i land in hong kong or should i fill in the time i expect to leave the airport? Another question is How long is the entire process from you land until you leave the airport? Much appreciated your response.
I think arrival time is arrival at the hotel, roughly 4-5 hours after you land. Butt don't worry, they'll ask you to email them your exact flight details. Check out the separate video I made of the arrivals process in HK airport.
@@XennialTraveller Thank you for your reply! That is helpful!:)
Great video! thanks for the information, mate. Question: Can i stop at the duty free to stock up on items?
@@XennialTraveller Ok thank you for your answers and have a great day !
@Xennial Traveller Another question now that I am in quarantine 😅
The air con is super loud even at its lowest level fan (52decibels) are we allowed to turn it off at least for a moment ? Can they check if the air con is on or not ? Thanks for your answers
@@wizmangaloulou6232 Please consult your hotel. I did turn my AC off at times, but be aware that in HK summer you shouldn't keep it off for long periods or the humidity is extremely high. If for some reason nothing can be done about the noise, then consider playing some white noise or other background noise.
@@XennialTraveller Ok thank you ! I will see that, I'm not the first one complaining about the air con noise in this hostel from what I saw on Maps. Have a nice day !
What happens if you need to see a doctor during the quarantine period? Do they refuse any medical access?
You call the Department of Health who will arrange accordingly. I've known people who've had to be taken to hospital or had emergency dental treatment, but these really have to be emergency. reasons. Others have had virtual consults and then had any required medication delivered to them.
I took my Wristband off I just pull it because I’m bored and it just went off 😂
Lucky you! I believe they just started not requiring wristbands now for Hotel quarantine
If not, you probably don't have much choice
did you stay at nina hotel?
I did, yes. I have another video specifically reviewing Nina Hotel's quarantine package.
21 days quarantine hotel is by your choice or government choice ? If government choice , how much they charged you ? Thanks
You have a choice of the designated quarantine hotels from the government list. Should be details in the video description.
@@XennialTraveller thanks mate. Really helpful.
Would you know if you got 2 vaccine jabs , the quarantine is still 21 days? I will be arriving mid July. TIA
Depends where you're coming from. Refer to the regulations here: www.coronavirus.gov.hk/eng/high-risk-places.html
What if your visa end while you are in quarantine?? I may get in same situation
No idea. You’ll have to email immigration and ask.
@@XennialTraveller ok I will mail but anyway you can confirm me exactly what, that will be more then enough
May i know which airlines you used from Malaysia?
I flew Cathay before they cancelled their weekly flights. I think I took the actual lay flight just after CNY

City View rooms start at HK$770/night. More info in the description and a pinned comment to this video :)
thank you for your amazing video, I have one doubt regarding the covid tests and shuttle bus service. should I reserve for them before reach HK airport or there is no need for reservation? Thank you again for your video
You're welcome. All the things upon arrival are all arranged. You can't reserve etc and everyone just goes through the same process start to end (unless arriving from mainland China). No need to pay anything either n
@@XennialTraveller Thank you for your kind reply, you are an excellent youtuber
What’s the ghostbusters machine for?
It's a big vacuum filter. Basically sucks up the air near you when you have your mask off to limit risk to the testing team. 👻
@@XennialTraveller wow
How much did it cost?
Current lowest room rate is HK$770/night (all inclusive of the 3 meals, etc). But the price is going up in December I think to around HK$950/night. Please check the linked official list and the hotel for more info.
Is HK open for tourists?
From August 9, fully vaccinated people who are not in the Group A high risk countries (Brazil, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines,
Russia, South Africa and the United Kingdom) can enter Hong Kong, but will be subject to 7/14 day quarantine. Otherwise, still not allowed.

What if you use a VPN on your phone? Would that mess with the Stay Home Safe App?
I'm not sure. If the VPN changes the actual location of your phone then my guess would be quite likely.
Hey next month we will travel back to Hong Kong do you think the hotel we're staying is exactly the same as yours?
Each hotel is different, and can vary widely. That's why I strongly recommend choosing wisely. I hope you've already booked because I hear that pretty much all hotels are fully booked up till the end of July except for a few less popular ones.
@@XennialTraveller Okay thanks, I have one question also. Does it necessary to get have a vaccine first before we can enter Hong Kong?
@@fredkyowa4905 No, but the quarantine from most places is reduced if you have been fully vaccinated.
How do you do this with kids ????
hello good evening sir im a Ofw may i ask you sir how much you pay one day in hotel? thanks
Do hotel provide rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer in the room?
Normal soap to wash your hands, which is much better than hand sanitizer gel😃 And individual packs of alcohol wipes
Now i heard that starting from mid may no need to quarantine
I'm afraid you heard wrong. The only possible no quarantine that has been announced is the Travel Bubble with Singapore - and there are some very specific conditions. I would be willing to bet money that quarantine will be in place till the end of 2021 and the only exceptions would be any specific 'travel bubble' arrangements and MAYBE with other places in Greater China.
Which vaccine for Under 18 pls tell
In Hong Kong, anyone over 12 can get the (Pfizer) BioNTech vaccine: www.covidvaccine.gov.hk/en/programme#eligible
@@XennialTraveller thank you
Can you get vaccinated during quarantine?
Nope. Easy enough to book for after you finish 😀
Great video, the phone number you used for the stay home and message from hk government. Is it a hk number ? As I only have a international number
Should be ok. I know some who’ve given WhatsApp contact numbers. Also, now no longer any tracking wristband for Hotel quarantine.
Thanks for your video it’s super informative and helpful! May I know what room type is this?
This is a standard Hill View room. All the standard rooms are the same size (huge!) and layout. I'm going to make a video review specifically of Nina Hotel's quarantine package - probably out next weekend :)
Yes please I would appreciate that! Will be waiting for your next video then :)
@@XennialTraveller Thanks for the quick reply! Did you need to book another covid test at a community centre for day 26 after leaving the quarantine?

Better do some exercise then... Wait... why aren't you allowed to order food?! My hotel gave lots of fruits, and you can easily order extra food deliveries - including groceries from FoodPanda or even supermarkets.

After the 3 weeks quarantine, it says you have to self monitor, do you have to stay in your house for those 7 days or can you go out and about?
You can go out and about. Just be self aware if you start having any symptoms.
@@XennialTraveller oh thank you. I was getting mixed messages from people saying I had to stay at home. UK has just gone from 2 weeks to 3 weeks quarantine which is heart breaking since I am going to Hong Kong to see my sick grandad. But I know the quarantine is necessary but just so stressful too!
@@lilylu2830 Ah no - I'm so sorry to hear. I was in a similar situation earlier this year when I had to go back to Malaysia to see my dad before he passed away - which was why I ended up having to do 3 weeks when I came back. Take care!
Weren’t you supposed to wear a mask upon opening the room door per government regulations?!?
Hong kong, Macau and china are the best control for incoming cases in the world. That’s why we got no local confirm cases.
This will be a different approach with other part of the world. However, this can ensure our economy can go normal and better.
The government is now going to negotiate with the mainland and further increase the COVID tests within the quarantine period. I hope most of the people can be patient with that because we need to corporate with the Chinese government in order to reopen our boarder with the Mainland.
