8:07, Katie Manning was in a couple episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures as Jo Grant, so she did work on screen with Elisabeth Sladen.

Sometimes I wonder about how Tom Baker feels about surviving both Elisabeth Sladen and Ian Marter, his original TARDIS team. Must be awful for him.

Yeah, and Mary Tamm as well. I imagine something like that really makes you existential.

@@MrTARDIS Yeah, Tom Baker is just such a fascinating person, his experiences and perspectives really interest me.

I guess it's better than NOT surviving them.

I find it very respectful that Briggs and the BF team explicitly said they would not have recast the characters unless Sadie Miller and Daisie Ashford played them. The characters would've simply not been used but involving the families and getting their blessing to carry on the great legacies is incredibly profound. Who fandom and creatives are very respectful about deceased cast members.

I find it an odd double standard compared to the recast Doctors, but I suppose recasting' them' has been there since the 5 Doctors.

@@DiamandaHagan yeah I agree. It's always felt like a weird double standard. It's been there since the 5 Doctor's but it wasn't even particularly great there.

@@DiamandaHagan Well Troughton being succeeded by Frazer and Michael T. is still keeping it within intament bounds. Noonan and Trelour were more like lucky finds that came about at just the time that felt right. There wasn't any family able or willing to take on those roles (Sean Pertwee giving a firm no).

It's weird to see the toxic fans who feel the need to crap on BF at every opportunity for the recasts, claiming that it's disrespectful to the actresses. Like, are you people seriously trashing the actresses' daughters, while claiming that they're being disrespectful to them? Pot, meet kettle.

@@DavidHHH99 Yeah Big Finish sure set a standard getting nearly all the original actors back. Dr. Who is lucky unlike most old properties. But again, they only have human life spans. I feel people get salty because BF is the official rights holder while fan audios don't have that.

I was at Spearhead and met both, they were absolutely lovely and had time for everyone. They had a panel where Katy interviewed them both and spoke a bit about their mothers which was really lovely.

In this documentary, Sadie mentions that she was considered to play young Sarah Jane in an episode of SJA but Elisabeth Sladen veto'd the idea.

Nick knew both Liz and Caroline well, both from interviewing them and working with them. Nick was one of the main interviewers for Reeltime's Myth Makers series, going back to the 1980's. Both Liz and Caroline worked at Big Finish before they died. Sadly, Liz never worked on the main Doctor Who ranges, but she did her own two season series of Sarah Jane Adventures for BF before the television Sarah Jane Adventures started. Unfortunately, she died before Tom decided to work for Big Finish and before they cast Tim Trelour as the Third Doctor. Caroline worked for BF playing Liz in 5 Companion Chronicles stories and a different role in Dust Breeding. It's truly a shame that we never got to see them in full Doctor Who stories at Big Finish with their respective Doctors.
As an interesting aside, Nick appeared as an extra in one of BBV's P.R.O.B.E. videos The Devil of Winterborne, which starred Caroline as Liz. It was a weird semi-official spinoff during "The Wilderness Years", since the company got the rights to Liz - and a bunch of other Who characters (but not Doctor Who as a whole), - from the the writers who created the characters, but not from the BBC. P.R.O.B.E. was basically a UNIT/Torchwood/X-Files rip-off, featuring Liz Show working for a basically a UNIT-like organization after leaving UNIT. Bill Baggs (the BB of BBV) played fast and loose with copyright laws, often getting himself in hot water with the BBC.

Liz never appeared in the Main Range as Sarah but she was an extra in Zagreus!
