Filipinos are hardworking people. They stick to their jobs thruout their life. I worked there for years and I really stuck it out with my job. I ate less but on holidays I really enjoy more food.
You are a good and an admirable man, Your wife is the luckiest woman, I salute her! May GOD bless you both! Why not visit Bacolod City, the City of Smiles? It’s just across Iloilo,
Hi Mike, I happen to stumble on your vlog and was kind of surprise how young and beautiful your wife is. I just turned senior and wanted to move out of US and interested moving to Philippines. I am hoping of finding someone who can be a life partner. You are one lucky Senior and do take good care of her.

Hi Mike and Janet! My fiance lives in Dapitan Mindanao, very beautiful and safe. When I went to the Philippines we stayed at Gwendolyn House in Dipolog for 8 days. Lots of fun and also very safe. They have an awesome boardwalk. She should be in in Utah by June and July. After a few years we will go back and forth to Philippines.
I have several videos on Baguio. From Cebu fly to clark about 1 1/2 hours aboutP4K the bus from Clark to Baguio P450 3 1/2 hours. Average temp 68 all year round
Thank you!! I'm in Porac Pampanga about 9 Miles from Angeles City / Clark international Airport. This house is $36 USD monthly . I am negotiating on another one in Baguio and my goal is less than that. I travel 50% of the time so I will probably do an airbnb type thing with subscribes who want to try the province life when I am not in Porac or Baguio. Great Info! I knew about collecting for biological children, but never checked into adoption re: SS. I think the child can receive up to 50% of whatever you collect and its a great way to afford better education and college.
Hi Mike and Janet, I just searched SSA website regarding the adoption and SSA benifits... it was a quick search so I might have missed something... this is what I found: A child who has not lived in the U.S. for 5 years can meet the 5-year residency requirement if the parent who is the worker, and the other parent, have both lived in the U.S. for 5 years. However, we will not pay children adopted outside the U.S. while they reside outside the U.S., even if they meet the residency requirement.
Good choice visiting Vietnam. I’ve been to Ho Chi Min City and it’s very busy. I hear Da Nang is a great place. I also went to Dalat. There’s a nice lake resort there, Edensee. Beautiful property but may be on the pricey side. I had a full-time income back then.
You are very ambitious. PJ having dual citizenship will give him the golden key to the USA the richest and greatest country in the world. People risk their lives to come here. I'm glad you are so healthy. I hope I can be active like you are if I live that long.❤
I really like your video. It’s far away from those who just made videos just for fun.so, I am planning to come to the Philippines and get married with my girlfriend and our daughter. We do know for four years now. And for me, she is the one. I am 65 years old by myself and I decided this way since everything runs more terrible her back in Germany. Hopefully I can find people who can be a little more close to us. The biggest reason is my girlfriend lives way up north. But I believe it always is a choice to move to different places. Well, I hope we will stay in touch somehow. Good luck for the three of you
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to both of you! I would love to spend winters there to get away from Minnesota in the winter. It is a long way to travel and my wife has had some heart issues in the past so I don’t know if this will happen but it is still fun to think about it. Anxious to hear your review on IloIlo I’ve been there 22 times and always wanted to go check it out. We went to Borcay in sept but would of much rather went to Iloilo
We’re from the Philippines but never been to the south, we’re from the north and been here in the States since 1989 . Went back home only once since 1989 and my husband is getting into his 62 years of age and we want to come back home and see the southern Philippines. We’ll get in touch .. 😊😊
hi Mike ! Some ideas to move to. Please consider the following: 1. ROXAS on the opposite end of the island from IloIlo City, on the coast, VERY inexpensive (single person, $500 month as an example with rent), LARGE well ordered public market.many amenities. 2. Malay Balay on Mindanao north of Davao City, COOL climate, inexpensive, small town feel. Also, Valencia City just South of Malay Balay. take bus from Davao City, airport soon.
Be sure to have google translate at the ready, while the internet says a lot of people speak english in Vietnam I found that was not the case. Was in Saigon for a month in 2022 and took 3 or 4 cabs a day, we only had one cab driver that spoke a little english. Your malls have plenty of english speakers, and some restaurants. Be sure to use Grab or Vinison taxi services, the most honest. I did enjoy my stay there though. Safe travels
Solid plan on all fronts Janet and Mike. Thanks for sharing and also for the broker intro. As I mentioned to you this basically saved me 2k per month (total 6k pesos) over the other broker I’d come across … the latter was tacking on an additional 2k per month to presumably boost her commission. As we are often reminded “it’s more fun in the Philippines” 😂
I just went to Bohol and did all the things you want to do. My GF and I hired the driver that took us from the airport to our hotel. He picked us up at our hotel and spent the day taking us to all of these places. He charged 4K PHP and the fact that he knew exactly where to go. I think the scooter would be fun but maybe after the guided tour.
My soon to be x-wife did the Chocolate Hills and the Trasiers. I had to go see them Monkeys because my Travel Guide ( Lonely Planet ) said that those Monkeys Committ Sucide, that might seem morbid, but since they say Monkeys are the closest to man. I also thought they might do that if their taking out of their natural habitat. I also thought that maybe somebody took down to the city and if it had a leash, thats how they did it, but that wasn't how. I ask my Tour Guide about it and she said she didn't know, but, I got lucky there was a Japanese Man behind me that knew about it, said the damn things bang their heads until it kills them. They guy that drove us up there, I invited him with us. We also took him on the Zip Line bought Coconut Drinks. I think he was shocked that we did that. I just thought it was stupid just to leave him standing outside and he probably didn't have the money to do it on his own time & dime. I think his name was Jobear, but that could also be the guy that pick me up at the Cebu Airport. Ohio, Big Ten Country
@mikesphilippineretirement Thanks, after re - reading, I made a ton of errors. It seems what is in my head, doesn't make it to the thread. Hope you could piece together my thoughts. Lol
Hi guys , do try thailand for a holiday, janet will love it the food, the infrastructure .and regarding they do speak english there its second language in schools there, and theres lots to see there too, vietnam is cool to, iloilo is very nice and much better infrastructure too clean too, internet very fast there too. Good luck in your journey 😊
DaNang is the easiest and best in my personal opinion, me and my wife are leaving from Davao on the 28th doing the same as you but will also visit Cambodia, Laos and Thailand Enjoy! I wouldn’t live in CDO, Davao, or Dipolog City personally been to all 3 multiple times Good Luck on your scouting trips and Merry Christmas! 🎄
Mike i'm sorry in the last couple of post i keep forgetting that you have P.J.! God bless all 3. Good luck! BTW i believe social security will be pretty liberal for you. I've been on it since i was 50 years old and it works pretty well. Take advantage of any of the programs you can you earned it!
Mike please talk to the future guys about the cost about building a home as opposed to buying one or rent. Maybe land cost or anything like that. If you need any information from san carlos bacolod stuff like that you might be interesting i'll see if i can help you with that that's my stomping ground. Thanks
I think you will find 90 + percent of the expats will be fine. Just remember that in any group there will be some lemons. I figure you either make lemonade out of that or just pass on the bad ones and you'll be fine.
Hi Mike why don’t you apply for the Special Resident Retiree's Visa Expanded Courtesy. This non- immigrant visa is specifically for people with prior service in the military. The visa allows you to stay in the Philippines indefinitely, and you can still travel out of the country whenever you want.
Hi! I am your new subscriber live here in Bagacay Dumaguete next from SPI. I enjoy watching your videos. I am hoping also there is a foreigner who will see me 😁

Good luck with the adoption. You'll need it. Mate of mine took nearly 4 years, hundreds of thousands of pesos, and a lot of red tape. Hopefully you will have it easier, but knowing the Philippines, i doubt it.
It’s my understanding that in order for an adopted child to be eligible for SS benefits under your eligibility the adoption has to take place in a U.S. Court. SS laws can be generous when it comes to qualifying dependents but I think it’s a good thing to have some safeguards in place to avoid supporting the world by simple marriage and/or adoptions outside of US courts and laws and rules. I think in the case of marriage to a foreigner there are time limits set to make a foreigner spouse eligible to collect on a SS annuitants benefits. I understand wanting to protect and make sure your wife and stepson will be taken care of but if it was as simple as going overseas and marrying and adopting in a foreign to make them eligible for SS benefits under your benefits, then the system would never be able to be sustained. Best wishes.
Time to purchase land and build a permanent house. Plus did you see that Cleveland Browns game and That New England Patriots game last 7 seconds was incredible
I have a question, do you know if you can find a GPS to attach to the motorcycle? I messaged the Garmin store in Cebu and they said they only sell watches. I have issues losing signal on my phone a lot so having a satellite signal would be the best.
Japan is a consideration in moving forward and I would think that is a good topic of discussion. The Philippines will definitely benefit but possibly lose what is important to the foreigner as a country that can provide an affordable lifestyle. Will Japan's interest in the Philippines affect the rythm of the Philippines and the foreigners planning to retire there. I would think that the Filipinos would imbrace this interest and accept all that progress and wealth it will create. What say you.
I believe PJ will receive a check of 50% of what you make. He will be covered medically until 18-collage years, Unless they changed all this. If your Disabled like me, their collage is paid for.
Yah they live in Iloilo they are Canadian and her family is Philippines descent. She’s working on dual citizenship. Anything you want to know about Iloilo they vlog about the area and interesting stuff to do or see in the city or near the city

My buddy married a woman with a kid. He decided to do the manly thing and adopt her child. As soon as he adopted her kid, she divorced him and he has to pay child support on her kid. Wishing you luck.
Your take on Social.Security benefits after adoption are spot on. However the most difficult part will be the father signing away his parental rights. This is where manipulation might be necessary under threat of taking him to court for financial arrearages which he cannot afford. But the easist way is a cooperative birth father. But to be safe this is a situation where Janet must document abandonment or no contact for 5+ years. That would include no financial support, no gifts for Christmas and birthdays, no attendance at family gatherings and no participation in cultural traditions between father and son. Good luck.
Very good advice and hope Janet finds a good Attorney ,too . Also I would point Janet son into constrution trade and the more skills the better . Name of the game , CYA .

You need to read the SS pub collecting your SS abroad. Your adopted child cannot receive benefits unless they reside in the US with you.

Hi Mike and Janet, I just searched SSA website regarding the adoption and SSA benifits... it was a quick search so I might have missed something...

A child who has not lived in the U.S. for
5 years can meet the 5-year residency
requirement if the parent who is the

lived in the U.S. for 5 years. However,
we will not pay children adopted outside
the U.S. while they reside outside the
U.S., even if they meet the residency
requirement.
We will find out in time. Will visit the SS in Manila after we complete the process. Thank you for checking it out and sharing the info

Same to you
We’re from the Philippines but never been to the south, we’re from the north and been here in the States since 1989 . Went back home only once since 1989 and my husband is getting into his 62 years of age and we want to come back home and see the southern Philippines. We’ll get in touch .. 😊😊
stay in touch you guys
hi Mike ! Some ideas to move to. Please consider the following:
Also, Valencia City just South of Malay Balay. take bus from Davao City, airport soon.
sounds like nice places
@@mikesphilippineretirement please let me know if they are lol
You have lots of energy at your age. Cool.
Oh thank you
Merry Christmas janet and mike watching from leyte
wow thanks for watching
Be sure to have google translate at the ready, while the internet says a lot of people speak english in Vietnam I found that was not the case. Was in Saigon for a month in 2022 and took 3 or 4 cabs a day, we only had one cab driver that spoke a little english. Your malls have plenty of english speakers, and some restaurants. Be sure to use Grab or Vinison taxi services, the most honest. I did enjoy my stay there though. Safe travels
Thanks for the info
Solid plan on all fronts Janet and Mike. Thanks for sharing and also for the broker intro. As I mentioned to you this basically saved me 2k per month (total 6k pesos) over the other broker I’d come across … the latter was tacking on an additional 2k per month to presumably boost her commission.
As we are often reminded “it’s more fun in the Philippines” 😂
Our pleasure!
I just went to Bohol and did all the things you want to do. My GF and I hired the driver that took us from the airport to our hotel. He picked us up at our hotel and spent the day taking us to all of these places. He charged 4K PHP and the fact that he knew exactly where to go. I think the scooter would be fun but maybe after the guided tour.
happy you enjoyed your visit to Bohol. So what is next for you
My soon to be x-wife did the Chocolate Hills and the Trasiers.
Ohio, Big Ten Country
thanks for sharing Steven
@mikesphilippineretirement Thanks, after re - reading, I made a ton of errors. It seems what is in my head, doesn't make it to the thread. Hope you could piece together my thoughts. Lol

thank you
Mike, if Janet is going to have her own channel. I hope she starts a Dating Channel, I would be her first customer. Don, California. U.S.A. 1-9-2024.
Merry Xmas Mike and good luck with your plans. I’ll be landing in Cebu Jan 2, hope to meet up if you have a meet and greet by mid January.
We should be here. Message us on FB
You're a good guy, Mike. Hope all expats are like you.
I think you will find 90 + percent of the expats will be fine. Just remember that in any group there will be some lemons. I figure you either make lemonade out of that or just pass on the bad ones and you'll be fine.
many so many good guys here
I did not pay attention to the information discussed in this video, I only watched the video because Mike is a good looking man
sad i did talk about you about the 10 minute mark Dave
Hi Mike why don’t you apply for the Special Resident Retiree's Visa Expanded Courtesy. This non- immigrant visa is specifically for people with prior service in the military.
The visa allows you to stay in the Philippines indefinitely, and you can still travel out of the country whenever you want.
Hi! I am your new subscriber live here in Bagacay Dumaguete next from SPI. I enjoy watching your videos. I am hoping also there is a foreigner who will see me 😁
thank you for subscribing

Good luck with the adoption. You'll need it. Mate of mine took nearly 4 years, hundreds of thousands of pesos, and a lot of red tape. Hopefully you will have it easier, but knowing the Philippines, i doubt it.
Fingers crossed!
If y'all go to Davao one oasis condos are very nice next to sm mall
Thanks for the tip
All the old timers say you can travel up to age 75. Then you don't feel like traveling anymore.
OMG - your plans are going to make you busier than a full time working in the United States! Are you sure you want to push that hard?
yes i do
God bless you. I appreciate you working hard to set Janet up for the future. You're a good man.@@mikesphilippineretirement
@mikesphilippineretirement You've worked out all the wrinkles so time is on your side. Fulfill your bucket list and enjoy.
Best wishes.
maybe they will receive some SS benefits maybe not. I do not know the law but I will find out later
Time to purchase land and build a permanent house. Plus did you see that Cleveland Browns game and That New England Patriots game last 7 seconds was incredible
go Browns..starting to think Superbowl
@@mikesphilippineretirement oh yeah they going there especially after the beating they put on Houston early in the game they strong
yes looking forward to the Playoffs
I have a question, do you know if you can find a GPS to attach to the motorcycle? I messaged the Garmin store in Cebu and they said they only sell watches. I have issues losing signal on my phone a lot so having a satellite signal would be the best.
No I do not. I just use my cell phone
Japan? What is the plan with Japan?
Yes come to Davao. We want to hang out! We know the good spots to visit! :)
Sounds great! it will be in July or August
@@mikesphilippineretirement awe 😊 I’ll be there! It would be nice if we went on a lil road trip. 🤭❤️

Man, the RUclips for Dummies would sure be a help, because I’m obviously a dummy, when it comes to making videos! 🤪
Any help to breathe new life into my lifeless channel would definitely help!
I didn’t see anywhere to sign up on your web page, yet. But I’ll keep checking. Great idea! 👍
after the 1st of January Jerry
My buddy married a woman with a kid. He decided to do the manly thing and adopt her child. As soon as he adopted her kid, she divorced him and he has to pay child support on her kid. Wishing you luck.
If she is filipina ditch the country.
