You can tell just how good and loved a person is when fellow castmates would jump with joy at that person's win like the cast of West Wing did for John Spencer. You can clearly see just how much they adored him! Between a hug from Martin Sheen, Bradley Whitford jumping with joy, and Rob Lowe mouthing an excited "yes!" with a raised fist, you knew that this cast really really was glad to see John Spencer win!!
Spencer had and probably to this day has had the best speech of any award winner. He was so appreciative and passionate about his work and his winnings. God, I miss him. ;(
I love Bradley Whitford's elated reaction when John Spencer is announced. And Stockard Channing won for the right season. I thought she was a bit melodramatic in Seasons 1 and 2, but she found the right balance of the toughness and the sentimental in Season 3. Martin Sheen really deserved Best Actor for Season 2 and Season 6, though.
@CatherineNightingale channing deserved to win and I'm so glad for the support she got from Janney, you can see they respect each other very much. Chaning was an exquisite First Lady.
Thanks for posting this! I vaguely remember seeing Michael Chiklis win, but I hadn't yet watched "The Shield." Now that I'm a HUGE fan of "The Shield," it's cool to see his winning moment, which he definitely deserved; I'm just sorry he hasn't been recognized by The Emmys again.
Michael Chiklis seems like a really down to Earth guy. I'm glad he won. I'm a little late but a few years after it has ended, I picked up on it. It's great! It has become on of my favorites.
Great to see such talented actors win; I was rooting for Six feet under that year (b/c I hadn't watched any West wing at the time), but now that I have, I can totally see why they won. The difficult dialogue that they had to produce, at such a fast pace, was electric. Louise-Parker should have been "guest actress" and she would have won no doubt; she was mesmerizing as Amy, but Channing had the screen time, and her beautiful moment at the end of "dead Irish writer," with tears in her eyes!
John Spencer's win is maybe the most deserving supporting actor win of the 00s. Michael Chiklis totally deserved his award, too. And it was a huge surprise so this makes his win more fantastic. Rachel Griffiths and Lauren Ambrose should've won instead of Janney and Channing, though.Their tapes may have been weak but i think they deserved an Emmy based on body of work they put in first 2 seasons of SFU.
I wonder if Channing was not well liked or something by some of the cast, because it's rare to see castmates (Maloney and Louise Parker) look so disgusted at a fellow castmate winning. They cant be surprised; As awesome as they are, they didnt have the episodes or the screen time like Channing in season three, and her submission of "Dead Irish Writers" are what emmy wins are made of. Any thoughts?
Martin Sheen had a habit of picking episodes that did not showcase his best moments (with the exception of Two Cathedrals). He was up against James Gandolfini that year, and Tony Soprano is a hard one to beat honestly, and I love the West Wing. Gandolfini was in every episode as a lead, and he was brilliant, so I can understand the result.
@vozas: I am a huge fan of both shows, and I too wish that Conroy and Ambrose had won emmys, but they had to go up against mind-blowing, powerhouse performances from Channey, and particularly Janney. Janney owned the emmys based on her talent, but I DO think that Conroy losing to Patirica Arquette in 2006 was absurd.
Sorkin wanted to make Mary Louise Parker a regular and add her to the opening credits cast. Unfortunately, his tenure on the show ended before he could make it happen.
Haha, I love how unprepared Chiklis was. He completely didn't expect to win, because Peter Liguori told him FX only had 8 voting members of the academy out of hundreds.
Wow! TWW cleaned house that year! They certainly won a lot of awards in their run and deserving so but it really sucked that Martin Sheen never won ONCE. Wha????
I KNOWWW!!! Its ridiculous that none of the actors from that show NEVER won an Emmy!!! haha Notice how no one was really happy that Stockard won in her category?!?!?
Glad Michael chiklis won but what i could never understand is why Walton goggins was never nominated for best supporting actor or even best actor especially season 7
@MichaelChiklisCares i don't get it these show don't get recognised but shit like two and a half men, sex and the city and the rest of the shows like this got award nominations left right and centre.
Everyone got nominated for this show except Rob Lowe. The shade of it all lol. He never really had any good storylines either....somebody didn't like him lol.

I just love how excited and genuinely happy Bradley Whitford is for his castmates' wins. That's camaraderie to the core.
I love Bradley Whitford's elated reaction when John Spencer is announced. And Stockard Channing won for the right season. I thought she was a bit melodramatic in Seasons 1 and 2, but she found the right balance of the toughness and the sentimental in Season 3.

I love seeing Stockard Channing's reaction when her name is announced for winning! :D Thanks for the upload!
Aaaaaw Allison is so cute! She deserves every award going x x x
John Spencer, what a great man and actor. Respect.
One of the years the Emmys got it SOOOO right.
Allison Janney's acceptance speech was SO cute!! LOL :D And Stockard Channing looked hot!! The West Wing really hit the jackpot that year.
goodbye john we miss you!!!!!
Amen. The biggest snub in Emmy history, that Sheen never won even one Emmy for that brilliant protrayal each year.
I'm so glad Channing won...I loved her ever since she played "Rizzo" in Grease...
i love this cast so much.
There Will Be Alot Of Series But Nothing Will Ever Compar To The SHIELD !!!!!
Love U Micheal !
Martin Sheen should've won one Emmy for the West WIng
Michael Chiklis seems like a really down to Earth guy. I'm glad he won. I'm a little late but a few years after it has ended, I picked up on it. It's great! It has become on of my favorites.
Spencer so totally deserved it. It's a shame he isn't with us anymore.
Allison Janney is a goddess
Stockard won two Emmys that night, one for The West Wing and the other for The Matthew Shepard Story.

i cannot believe john spencer is dead, it's so so sad :(
Wow, i think pretty much the whole cast has been nominated for performances on the West Wing!
Yeah, especially Parker. She let her genuine reaction be shown; they usually hide it well at these things.
John Spencer's win is maybe the most deserving supporting actor win of the 00s.

Sheen should have won 7 fucking Emmys because of this show. He got screwed every single time.
4/6 supporting actor noms were for The West Wing. lol
@lonelygnome1 Totally agree. And I love Mad Men. But the West Wing is just brilliant.
He jumps just the same when Janney wins too.
Chiklis...you own.
I wonder if Channing was not well liked or something by some of the cast, because it's rare to see castmates (Maloney and Louise Parker) look so disgusted at a fellow castmate winning. CJ would've nailed that speech
Micheal Chiklis!!!! YESSS!!!!
can`t believe this is the only emmy the shield won
Martin Sheen had a habit of picking episodes that did not showcase his best moments (with the exception of Two Cathedrals). He was up against James Gandolfini that year, and Tony Soprano is a hard one to beat honestly, and I love the West Wing. @theliarintheglass i don't get how series like The shield and The wire never got a look in
very good
@MichaelChiklisCares its like my second fav behind The Sopranos
I guess you could say that Michael Chiklis "clobbered" the competition!
Chiklis is the man! long way from the commish (which i liked by the way)
michael chiklis is the man!
That's some emmy ownage right there from the West Wing
@vozas: I am a huge fan of both shows, and I too wish that Conroy and Ambrose had won emmys, but they had to go up against mind-blowing, powerhouse performances from Channey, and particularly Janney. Michael Chiklis = Well Deserved
Sorkin wanted to make Mary Louise Parker a regular and add her to the opening credits cast. Unfortunately, his tenure on the show ended before he could make it happen.
does any one have stockards emmy win for the mathew shepard story?
CHIKLIS!!!!!!
who was that leading her to the stand?
Haha, I love how unprepared Chiklis was. He completely didn't expect to win, because Peter Liguori told him FX only had 8 voting members of the academy out of hundreds.
Mary-Louise Parker looks pissed!
AcademyAwardsPerson I don't know why, she most certainly didn't deserve to win lol.
Vic Mackey all the way, baby!

As opposed to Stockard Channing's win
@MichaelChiklisCares i don't get it these show don't get recognised but shit like two and a half men, sex and the city and the rest of the shows like this got award nominations left right and centre.
Janel Moloney not ever winning after ALL her amazing job in TWW is sooo unfair
Micheal chiklis better than anyone there..!
Chiklis is da man! who were those other loser nominees? they can't compare with their crappy shows
@Ally20791 the shield is my fav show all time! :P
@Ally20791 yea that sucks balls!
poor jennifer garner, if only allison janney stuck to the supporting role like in previous years, jennifer garner would have won!
wow, watch maloney and Louise parker when Channing wins! They are not very happy are they.
Mad Men has nothing on The West Wing in my opinion.
Everyone got nominated for this show except Rob Lowe. The shade of it all lol. He never really had any good storylines either....somebody didn't like him lol.
That and Money is why he left.
Not to shit on the parade, but West Wing was so overrated. Spencer was a great talent, but the show was just average.
M Joh In your opinion.
