I was always a big Sam Cooke fan. I saw this movie as a kid and remember thinking how much the actor nailed this role. Just found out it was Paul Mooney wow what a legend.
I loved Paul Mooney as Sam Cooke...He looked so much like him. I wish a biopic had been made with him starring as Sam when he was a young man. Dionne Warwick's son also did a good job portraying him in the opening scenes of Ali. Denzel could've definitely done the role justice when he was younger...I don't know who could play him now, it will be hard to capture the charm, class, charisma, brilliance, and uniqueness of this great man.
