and i bought some rotar cannons in preparation of building some for my t sons before hh2 was announced, lucky ive yet to build them so theyll be going to my night lords now.
@@markselby9352 I've done the same, it's a bit harder with a brush. I don't own an airbrush but imagine it would be much better. I just use vallejo gloss varnish over the top. Hope that helps
I am still tossing between TS and SoH, but I feel the sway of the boys in candy red... great video Ash! thanks! also my take on that candy red is base of leadbelcher and then tamiya´s clear red over, either trough airbrush or by brush, works really nice and 2 coats make really deep candy red!
I’m really happy with the Thousand sons rules. Except for the Achean Configuration rite of war. A preavian and tech marine tax doesn’t seem worth it, just to get obsec robots that can’t even do reactions. Also the weapon skill of 3 means they won’t be hitting too much if they get stuck in close combat.
So after about a year of playing Thousand Sons my opinion has changed about the Achean Configuration. I think the rite is fantastic and synergizes really well with Magnus actually. The preavian can really support the castellax especially with Thaumaturgy as a spell, and the tech marine doesn’t feel like a tax anymore since you are allowed to give him a cognis Signum.
At first i was worried for my psychic legion but the more i see of this addittion the more i am relieved. it still feels like 7th but alittle differant, will have to see a few more games first, and the non astartes book as well, my Solar Auxilia and there attached Militia and Mechanicum forces shall not be ignored.
I put on all the heretical legions - sons of horus + white scars at the same time and now i can really hear the whispers of the changer of the ways in my ear. why no sons of horus ? they are our imperial fists...
Overall a big nerf to Thousand Sons, though most agree Inferno was a bit nuts. Also apparently the sekhmet changed armour right before the rubric because they can't take tartaros armour anymore even though their 40k equivalents in the scarab occult wear tartaros.
Hard nerf on TS. Now they pay for overplay in 1.0HH. Even tho most legions got 2w, 2+ save units with 3++ terminators, TS lost them as being OP. GW and their wierd sense of logic.
Ah yes, my traitor force… still gonna say loyalist till proven otherwise, but can’t wait to field them. Got the burning of prospero box, just need to build up the twenty marines.
The only traitors to be betrayed by the Imperium. Some absolute ballers remained loyal even while the noble loyalists of the other legions hunted them down with contempt. Easily my favorite traitors.

I feel like people are massively underestimating the capabilities of the new Achaean Configuration Rite of War. It's much better than the old "Axis of Dissolution" that the Thousand Sons had access to in the old Horus Heresy. The Line Keyword means that they are the perfect unit to just park on your home objectives. With their high toughness and wounds, they are incredibly hard to remove them from (especially if you add a Techmarine for a measly 55pts to each of your Castellax-Achea Squads). While their Weapon Skill might not be high, they will most likely never need CC anyway if you use them like explained above, and meanwhile they are sitting in the back to snipe units with their Aetherfire-Cannons, your Tactical Marines in Rhinos or Assault Marines rush up the board to grab the more forward Objectives. In addition, bringing a Praevian in your Army also never really felt like a tax, considering that he allows you to bring some of the deadliest units in the entire Horus Heresy with him (Vorax) while only using up a HQ Slot.
Thinking of going with Emperor's Children as my main army and then have these guys as my allies. Should be an interesting mix there plus Lucious and Ahriman would be sweet teamed up
Does the Achaean force weapon section say independent characters can’t take them? So it’s basically an upgrade only for sergeants now? If so it’s pretty strange that a Magister of Prospero Praetor can’t take a force weapon, is a paragon blade just plain better or something?
No. Achean force od like a baby force weapon. It gives you 2+ str. However Magnus, Ahriman and all big boys still get real force weapob with instadeath spacial rule. I guess GW decided that sekmet with force was overkill? Yet, some termis stil have 2w,3++, and Thunder hammer with brutal 2.
One more thing which is kinda dumb is Sekhment terminators used to be able to pick their terminator armour, i guess this is a case of no model no option but you could buy the plastic scarab occult terminators and use them as Tataros Sekhment.
@@MegaApostel Which is sad, but i guess it might be along the same thought pattern of having a different state line for the praetors in different armour.

10,000 years as the black sheep for doing nothing wrong.
One change i noticed is you can no longer get Asphyx shells for rotor cannons, which kinda made them useful.

One way to do the red is to spray retributor armour, go over with blood angels red contrast and then gloss varnish
What do you do for vehicles then? Also what varnish do you use

Sekhmet also lost Asphyx it seems, since it's only an upgrade on standard Bolters now. That, coupled with a points increase, is a bit of a bummer.
