I dont understand, in the beginning they specifically put the the stuff in the science department but later on it became magic wtf HELP!!
It was a cover up since Tina wanted to protect Nico from the origins of the staff (as you can see later in the series, the staff began to corrupt Nico every time she overuse it, and every time she overuse it, it channels Dark Dimension Energy as a source of its power-and I think that's why Tina always says it's Tech).

I like how she is so like, in bad relationship with her mother that any bad thing that she hears she immediately associates it with her mother.
Like, probability states that a given couple is more likely to be heterosexual than anything else so there is a higer chance that chase means a Male and female couple...
And yet, Nico sees her mother in such a bad way that by her POV, there is a higher chance that SHE has done the bad thing (of course, beyond the sacrificing children to an alien part).
Or maybe not, like maybe she thought that because of a different reason but that is just my theory for the reason that that happened
