I just stick my begonia propogations right back in the mama pot. My begonia maculata started as 2 sticks and 6 leaves last May and she's one of my biggest plants now. Over 2 feet tall. One of my faves. Her name is Sharon. 💝

I'm one of the guys who actually grows begonias for their FLOWERS and not so much for their foliage. People tend to forget that like Angel wing begonias flower and have actually beautiful flowers in many different colors! So hope everyone will take the time to admire begonias for their FLOWERS.

Begonia “Looking Glass” has been such an amazing grower for me! It’s one of the most silver cane begonias out there. I also super love “Cracked Ice” with it’s billions of polka dots and demure leaves.

I recently got a Cracked Ice and I am really enjoying it! In high light the concentration of silver is very high towards the tips which gives it such a neat look

I have so many potted Begonia Lucerna. It propagates so well. I had my big one outside in 9a in the shade of a large tree and it did so well this summer.
My grandmother gave me a big pot as a house warming gift about 5 years ago. She passed a couple years ago and it’s definitely a treasured plant now. Cane begonias always remind me of her so I’ll always love them.

I feel like this might be the year for begonias! I feel like a lot of people are starting to get into them. I got my first cane begonia recently and I hope to dd more to my collection this year, such unique plant.

I love Begonias. I've been wanting a Maculata for a long time. Went to a home Nursery last weekend and found one for $18. So thrilled with my collection. Lots of them also grow well outdoors in my Tropical garden.

My favourite is the beefsteak begonia. It has much thicker leaves so it seems to tolerate low humidity pretty well and is very low maintenance. Mine has been growing vigorously and has even sprouted some (not so showy) flowers for me this winter!

Last year I bought a Hardy begonia, ITS A PERRENIAL OUTDOOR ANGEL WING!! So excited to see it come back this year! Admitting I won’t believe it til I see it, but I trust the greenhouse worker who sold it to me so fingers crossed 🤞🏼 it will come back in my garden every year!

I really, really love cane begonias! Similar to Hoya, it took growing one to really go from appreciating them to truly LOVING them.
Another one that I really love is 'Whimsy' which really gives Wightii vibes but the leaf shape is a bit more.. ruffled? Such a cool genus of plants

It took me quite a number of years of plant collecting before aquiring any begonias and now I have 3. The first one I bought was a Begonia Thurstonii as I had heard it was a nice easy one to start with and I'm happy to say it is doing very well. Then I bought a Begonia Rex 'Titica' which has been a bit more of a struggle but is still thriving. I accidentally splashed water on 2 of it's leaves so ended up taking them off. It really requires a lot of humidity as it is quick to tell you if there's not enough but is a quick grower when the humidity levels are right. I then wanted something a bit more "special" to go into a goldfish bowl enclosed terrarium so opted for a Begonia 'Cleopatrae' with the most amazing markings on the leaves and that is loving life too. I am happy with just the three but if something catches my eye you never know. What is the plant in the hanging pot to the left of you (the right as we see it)? It looks unusual and not something familiar to me. Thanks for sharing Becca.

I have Amphioxius in household humidity (30 to 40%) and a baby of it in a terarium and both are doing great. It was a wishlist plant and i was lucky to just find it in a hardware store, I was so happy!
Then i found a Maculata in a garden center and i just ordered a Listada baby plant ,she is adorable. Next is a Melanobullata or a Ferox, the look so creepy cute !

I only have two Begonias. A Begonia Lois Burke and I just got a Begonia Maculata. They’re both gorgeous!! The Lois Burke has orange flowers in the spring and summer that are so pretty!! I highly recommend that one too. I got it from Steve’s Leaves.
    Thank you for sharing!! 💜💚🪴🌵
Editing to add: I taught my Service Dog to give me her cheek so I can kiss her and then she kisses me, then turns her head for me to kiss her again! 🥰🥰🥰🐾💜

Hey Becca i also once had a big beautiful gorgeous begonia lucerna. I might forgot to water it once or twice. All leaves fell off, but I managed to save one tiny little cutting. I put the cutting in water and hoped it would root as fast as the original cutting (big root after 2 weeks). Anyway weeks went by and no roots grew not even small ones. Nothing. AND NOW after 4 months roots appeared(so excited). Just wanted you to know...
    tldr: never lose hope

My begonia maculata just won't stop this winter and has become literally a bush. It keeps sending off shoots instead of growing taller which I am totally okay with. It given me 10 plus leaves this winter so far I should add that it was just 3 canes in a 6 inch with maybe 3 leafs on each or 2

Wow, your begonia's look so happy and healthy! I just had to toss both of mine because they got powdery mildew and I just couldn't get rid of it. I'm going to wait for spring and some warmer weather and try again, but now I'm worried that the mildew is just kind of "in the air" here and it'll come back. Does anyone have experience in that area? None of my other plants seem to have it even though they're pretty close together, but both begonias did and they weren't close to each other at all!

    Hey.
Use "API Stress Coat Water Comditioner" in your tapwater.
Use 4-5 drops for about 1liter tap water... (one small bottle will go a very long way) Than mix it throughy, and let the conditioneren do it's work 1-2 hours. And use this for thouse Plants that can't "handle" tap water.
The conditioner will "remove/ break down" the harmfull chemicals.
It's ment for Fish tanks... having that said, it will do wonder for your plants that can't "handle" tap water.

I’ve said before, you are the reason I bought my first cane begonia (a lucerna) after having no luck with Rex type. However, I cannot prop them successfully. Tried water method and putting them directly in soil. The cuttings rot. Urgggh! Don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Any tips? I do let the ends callous over. Benigo pink is the last one I tried to prop. I prop hoyas, pothos and aroids fairly well. I know begonias SHOULD be easy to prop, but there you go, it’s just a me thing....

I’m getting all the different types! I have had a beefsteak for years but just in the past year I’ve acquired many!
I have probably twenty five and quite a few propagations. Quite a few are rexes. I think they are somewhat trickier. The rhizome ones are easy. Let them dry out between watering.
Begonias have so much to like about them! I especially love how cute and fuzzy a lot of the new leaves are, often a completely different color that the mature leaves. The variety is stunning! I’m in love with begonias!
