My John Lennon (JLB8) box set came with that same booklet. Purchased on Ebay many years ago. I've checked on Ebay today and all copies that are listed, and there are several, have that booklet.
I live in Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 & I have the exact same box set I got from a record fair for a reasonable price cos a few albums were missing!, my box set was a bit worn & torn around the cardboard sides of the box & carefully glued overlapping cardboard over the sides but the albums are in great condition although 4 albums were missing?... Live Peace in Toronto 1969,John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, Imagine & Shaved Fish!, I added my Australian pressings of those albums to it & I even included his last album alive.. Double Fantasy as a bonus album, It does have the Liverpool Echo tribute booklet of John included inside, great great box set.👍
I bought my copy in the early 90's from Ameoba records, used but it's mint. Still has the price label on it and it was $49.95. Besides having the same booklet, as you have, it has 3 more. It has a calender for 1981 plus 2 booklets, one featuring the lyrics plus a timeline that ends on Dec. 9, 1980. On the Mother album features the bonus of "Gone, Gone, Gone" which was also released in Australia. It does not feature the Poster or the two photo's from "Imagine" album. Or the sleeves or booklet that was released in England.
Interesting, Brian, thank you! I have a Mind Games on MfP - and it sounds amazing, though I don‘t like the variant cover. But the sound is better than on the new remix, for my ears at least. Greetings from Berlin, Harry
I bought this when it was released. Several of the albums have plenty of pop, clicks and surface noise. I returned it to the record store and got a replacement. Same results with second box set and returned it. I listened to random cuts from a few albums from a third box set at the store and had the same results. These were all cut and pressed in the UK. Only Live Peace In Toronto and Plastic Ono Band were pressed from the masters that Parlophone had. The rest were pressed from submaster tapes, as the rest were mastered in the US and were in the possession of Capitol. Including Imagine which was recorded in the UK, but John did the overdubs and mastered it in NYC. Your MFP Rock 'n' Roll is not period correct, it should be on Apple like the rest of the LPs on this box set. The vinyl used were not virgin vinyl, the UK was still suffering from the oil crisis at the time and were using recycled material.
@@rjaraneta913 while I agree with everything you say here, John’s US pressings have always lacked in the way of sound (at least for me). These UK pressings have much more depth and warmth to my ears. Much like the UK blue box, it’s hit or miss with vinyl quality. Thankfully my box seems to be nice.
@@BrianBringelson Its great that your box set has nice sounding records. You lucked out. The US pressing of Sometime In New York City sounds warmer than the UK pressing to me and Mind Games mix was somewhat muddy, no matter where it was pressed. To my ears, the best over-all sounding John Lennon box set released around the same time as yours was the German "pizza box" version. It contains the same Live Peace In Toronto 1969 to Shaved Fish, but without the blue cover booklet. It's packaged in a white carboard box that looks like a take-out pizza box.
Fantastic John Lennon box set,Brian!!!!
Glad to know you and your family and your home are safe!

Great video, Brian; I was not familiar with this set before.
Same here. I will have to look for this now …. Lol
Great spot on review! So glad you enjoyed this set.
I had bought that set when it game out. It's a great set. I wish I still had it.
Great review!
✨Thanks Bro for this investigation💫💫

Very Nicely Done!😎
Pecko is George Peckham, also known as Porky.
If you see his name in the deadwax you know it's a solid mastering/cutting.

Bought mine new on 10/9/83 @ Record Theater. It is a Japanese import on EMI/Odeon.
Original apple 🍏...I remember that, couldn't afford it

How does this set compare to the remastered set issued in 2010?
it's hands down a thousand times better.
I love the sound of Mind Games. I do not like the new remix. Removing instruments from the mix is not cool.

I like the UK white apple labels better than the US ones. Stay safe out there.
Passed away? That makes it sound like he had a peaceful end. He was murdered.
Passed away means to die. It doesn't imply anything specific.
@@derradune6722 I made a decision not to bring up his murder.
