At Auschwitz there is a sign at the gates - "Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it." There are people out there that are showing all the signs of repeating this horrific time once more. We as a country cannot allow this to happen - and it is up to us to ensure that it doesn't.

I served in the U S Air Force At Ramstein A B, W. Germany from 1984 to 1986. On a visit to Munich, I took a tour of Dachau, what a sobering experience that was. The best part was leaving because you are overcome with a hatred for those who took part in the holocaust.
MY NEIGHBOR VISITED THE POLISH DEATH CAMPS LAST YEAR; SHE SAID IT WAS A VERY EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCE THAT SHE WILL NEVER FORGET. VERY MATURE MATERIAL FOR ADULTS ONLY BUT SHE FELT IT WAS IMPORTANT FOR HER CHILDREN TO SEE AND LEARN FROM IT AS WELL.

There is no such thing as "POLISH DEATH CAMPS!" In German concentration camps, all inscriptions were in German, the guards were dressed in German uniforms, had German military ranks and spoke German, their native language. And they were no Nazis, but simply Germans. Don't distort history!!!

If l knew l was going to be shot l'd wouldn't go lay down in a pit and wait for it, l'd stand there and say nup, not going. I'd be shot anyway but they would have to put in the effort and drag me.
I've always thought that.
If you did that -- as surely many did -- they'd put far more effort than just shooting you and dragging you into the pit saying, "Well scheiße! she sure was brave that one!" They'd make an example of you by torturing your entire family in front of you, then they'd do very unpleasant "example" things to you for standing up to them -- all in front of your entire community waiting their turn. Use your imagination. I'm sure they did. If you don't shudder at the possibilities, you're not thinking hard enough. Do you really think those lining up "willingly" in the pits didn't know this? They knew the sadistic brutality that could be unleashed on them and their loved ones was far worse than a simple bullet to the back of the neck. They went because they had no choice. That is what makes it so harrowing, so enraging and so incomprehensible to us.
Also remember that these scenes were filmed by the perpetrators for their own self promotion, training and eventual internal review to determine how to better annihilate an entire race more efficiently. Recommended reads: "Ordinary Men: Reserve Police Battalion 101 and the Final Solution in Poland" by Christopher Browning, and "Masters of Death: The SS-Einsatzgruppen and the Invention of the Holocaust" by Richard Rhodes, if you would learn more.
