It came down to the Sienna and the Carnival for us earlier this year too. The problem is it was almost impossible to find a Sienna in stock anywhere. They are super popular yet Toyota doesn't match production to demand. Fortunately I was leaning towards the Carnival anyway and I'm so happy with my choice.
Out of all the Chrysler minivans my parents have had over the last 30 years probably the most practical one was the 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan SE, yeah it didn't have any luxury features but my dad absolutely loved having the stow n go seating system
Sienna is overpriced but delivers rare combination of awd, fuel efficiency, and reliability. Hence the strongest resale value and the one only still demanding a premium over msrp out of the bunch
I’m in the market for my first minivan. I like the Honda best! The stow and go seats…removable seats! I am NOT a fan of all the new tech. So I’m glad to see it is “lacking” in that area. Also I am a man. So having one of the best horsepower rating matters…even in a minivan 😎
I think the Pacifica is a big winner. The stow n go seating option are a must have!! Having to remove seats and store them someplace is a big hassle just thinking about it. I wanted a small cargo van but those are not being made anymore. I’m down to a minivan option. Don’t always drive people around but when I have to it’s nice to know I can just flip out the seats when I need to. Otherwise they will be stowed away most of their life if I owned the van. I need cargo space. Closed in cargo room. No pickups. Minivans are also a great make-out vehicle. I have fond memories!
Hard to beat AWD, Hybrid and Safety ratings of the Sienna. Wife and kids were in a head on crash and just bumps and bruises. Replaced the 21 with a 25. It also held its value incredibly well.
Picked up a ‘25 Sienna Woodland, all black. Thing’s 🔥. Sleek, now more modern, AWD, best MPG, reliability, resale value. Get what you pay for in the Carnival.
Recently purchased a used 2022 Pacifica hybrid limited for $20000 after federal rebate, same year Sienna hybrid almost twice as much. Not everyone in market for minivan can afford brand new, most of us settle with used ones.
It's a non-starter. The CX-90 cannot compete with a minivan in family duty. Period. The space does not compare, and overall usability of the minivan is just more practical.
I have been a loyal Odyssey fan since 2008, but I was very disappointed with the 25 model: no 360 degree camera view, no AWD, no hybrid, no heads up display, no panoramic sunroof, no vacuum, no refrigerator, and still with a timing belt engine. I am just counting on Honda to come up with the first v6 awd hybrid minivan with those missing features, and then it can be undisputed number 1.
2 things could improve on the sienna is higher ground clearance and a removal middle seat for 2nd row like the Odyssey. Honda should make AWD hybrid and 15 inch display then Odyssey will rank #1
Disagree the Odyssey doesn't offer a panoramic roof, no 360 degree camera, no large enough easy to use/read screens, no blind view cameras, it's adaptive cruise control can't do stop and go, it's cargo space has gotten much smaller over the years, it's not all that quiet inside in the real world, and it uses a timing belt still instead of a chain which means at least 1-2K spent every 100K miles. Our family had older Odysseys but the current one is quite dated. I like how it drives in terms of engine/trans and it's interior can be configured to be more practical with young kids, but aside from that I don't see why I wouldn't get a used odyssey for half the price and still have all the same features
It'll be interesting to see how that does. If it's anything like the Atlas quality or most Volkswagens it's not looking good. They are at the bottom of reliability. Even under Chevy Kia and Hyundai
I was in an accident on Friday that totaled my 2021 Pacifica, which was modified to accommodate my power wheelchair. Luckily, my dad and I walked away without injuries. We were surprised at the number of deployed airbags, including ones up by our foreheads. Do you know how other vans compare with safety?
I felt the same way - but a midsize SUV like Grand Highlander is generally $10k more (at top end), hard to get, and just as big as any of these (we went with Carnival SX Hybrid). What is ASTONISHING is that the Carnival (with seats removed) has the same or slightly more cargo space than Suburban, Tahoe, Expedition, Escalade - unbelievable.
Pacifica is a great rental but after the warranty is up it is not good at all. Not only that but it's usually more expensive than most. If you still are wanting one then just get the hybrid. The captains chairs are more comfortable and at least you'll save money on gas. But get extended warranty and after put money aside for issues with electronics.
@ExpertRUclipsCommentator Depends on the model. The new tundra and tacoma have had reliability issues, and the gr corolla can't go over 85 without catching fire.
I would take the Honda, Sienna is way too expensive, 60k for a fully loaded sienna, which is 10k more than the honda, I would rather save 10k to use for fuel cost. The other 2 minivans are unreliable, especially Chrysler.
Gotta ding the Carnival for leaning too hard on the SUV thing at the expense of practicality. It's the only option in the segment that doesn't have lower center console storage space, instead replacing it with a big ol' partition between the driver and passenger. The doors don't hold even average size water bottles. There's no sunglasses holder up top. It's just missing little sensible touches that minivan buyers need.
Kia is the best option out of the four! Everyone should purchase the Kia, which will finally compel Toyota and Honda to acknowledge the poor quality of their interiors.
@@DesertRailProductionslol 100k miles and 10 years is a long warranty. FYI the Odyssey needs the timing belt changed every 100K miles which is a 1-2K at any reputable shop lol. Sienna hybrid is the best for long term ownership costs. But I'd sacrifice that for the V6 Carnival and maybe the hybrid Carnival
@@ayushmalpeddi2793I was thinking same thing but a lot of horror stories of Korean cousins not honouring 10yr warranty. That and there is about 20% more depreciation on Kia vs Toyota. My wallet likes to remind of the financial sense of making a large purchase like this 😅
Sienna is overpriced but delivers rare combination of awd, fuel efficiency, and reliability. Hence the strongest resale value and the only one still demanding a premium over msrp out of the bunch (and selling, smh)
No offense, but hard to take their opinions on minivans seriously with neither having kids. I think the magic slide seats in the Odyssey is a massively undervalued feature for people who have 4 kids in car seats
Sienna, you cant convince me otherwise. The MPG on that thing is phenomenal, and its still been proven reliable. 2nd place would be the odyssey, since honda knows not to upcharge them over MSRP. kia and chrysler will begin falling apart at 35k miles.
Wouldn't trust the Honda after all the recalls they've been having and their V6 engines have had a lot of rod bearing problems that needed full on engine replacements. The Kia winning #1 is well deserved. It's currently the best minivan on the market.
Chrysler and Kia are a hard pass for reliability. Sienna is fine for economy, but the storage behind the third row is compromised by the hardware for the third row seat. Honda is still a player despite the lack of a hybrid.
My RWD with winter tires is 100% better and less likely to get stuck than any AWD with all season tires you own lol. My car makes well over 400hp and I've never ever even got remotely close to being stuck in Michigan. Just say you can't drive or have no knowledge on how traction, tires, weather, and cars work. AWD is overrated unless you get winter tires to take advantage of the extra driven wheels.
@ add in there practicality, seats 7-8 and cargo space if you are comparing to these 4. ID Buzz is going after a different market, not the family of 4-5 looking for space and functionality.
Top two minivans are the sienna followed closely by the honda ,period no questions asked. Kia is the prettiest but looks can only take you so far. Chrysler is one of the most expensive and the least reliable of the bunch, good luck with that.

Sienna is overpriced and under power for a large minivan
If you just drive around cities, then maybe yes but not for on highway.
I am wondering how the CX 70 or 90 would compare to a minivan especially if you are interested in cargo space to travel/camp in?
Cx 90 is one of the worse when it comes to storage. I really love the way it drives and feels but absolutely horrible storage for a family suv.
