Daron and Serj needed their personal artistic space. They got it and they both created masterpieces. Daron's 2 albums (Scars on Broadway) and Serj's albums are my SOAD version 2. This amazing. One of the most unique music. Now they are together again.
John Dolmayan has also put out his own music too and its pretty good. Starman and Road to Nowhere are both very good songs (i mean they have Serj vocaling them but are still written by John)
agreed, although it would be nice if they were back together for almost any other reason than due to a new attempt by Turks via Azerbaijan to wipe out the Armenians
There are so many great songs on this album, but I think Butterfly is my favorite. The line, "we are being sacrificed by our own suspicions" always hits me. It is so true. Our suspicions make us feel emboldened, and hatred gives us a certain strength, but it is laced with poison.
Damn this is awesome! But I just can't stop thinking about the potential these songs would have if you'd add some daron into the mix :-P I wish daron would be musically more open minded. At this point I really think that Serj wasn't the problem in the first place. He just wanted to experiment a bit.

This and Imperfect Harmonies are fantastic albums. I love his use of samples, and I become the Leonardo DiCaprio meme every time I hear a sample that I have used in my own music. Jazz Iz Christ is great too.

As a big fan of SOAD I thought I would give both Sers and Daron a chance and listen to their solo albums. There are some good moments on this album, but I generally don´t feel it. The new album I sadly can´t stand at all. Daron´s "scars of broadway" has some song that is ok, but damn I miss SOAD!

The Revolting Cocks, another group with input from Al Jourgensen, did a cover version of Dark Entries maybe 10 years ago. Lol, I'm rambling. Just excited to be listening to Serj Tankian again. I loved the first SOAD album then developed an elitist attitude problem that kept me from enjoying any following albums until a few years ago.
Nah, I was hoping I'd find a comment pointing that out. I thought maybe my speakers are starting to go bad (and maybe they are) but I just got done listening to Elect The Dead just as loud and didn't get the impression that the quality was this low. Something else that's odd is the second track doesn't sound as low quality as the first track. I'm really quite baffled. Lol. Pretty much all the rest has sounded like the first track, though, it's kinda annoying.

I remember at least 30 years ago when everything could be taken apart and cleaned, oiled and fixed. Fans and vacuums would last for decades. This plastic molded junk isn't repairable even the 20$ fans are usually only good for one year of use. I still have a forty year old fan that totally kicks ass, it just needs cleaning occasionally. Plus don't forget all the clothes and virtually everything else people use is now made from oil.
Well firstly, if there's no way around capitalism, you sure could've fooled people living under communism. Capitalism is a political ideology in favor of private ownership over state ownership, it doesn't necessarily have to do with the production of products deemed unnecessary. There's plenty of instances of capitalism not being the dirty game it can admittedly be. Personally, I don't think there's a political ideology of the sort that beats capitalism, when not abused. I mean, what would you rather live under, absolutism, anarchy, autocracy, aristocracy, a dictatorship, oligarcy, theocracy, totalitarianism, fascism, monarchy? I can't say I'm in favor of any of those.
I really wanted to like this album but compared to Elect the Dead and SOAD; Serj's music and lyrics have regressed in quality. Also, I really don't feel the passion behind them either and that is honestly the most important to me. I think he took on way too many projects at once, didn't devote enough time to each them individually and all of them suffered because of it.
