they knew people wanted LeBron in 2003 so most of these sets the rookie cards were made as short prints. I remember at the time ripping boxes that had 1 rookie per box. Cool video!
I feel like this would have been the year for card companies to start doing this! Lebron and Carmelo were two major hyped players!! Mainly lebron of course.
Companies were doing this years before this crop so that you would buy the more expensive hobby boxes. All retail was back then was cheap inserts and tons of base cards. A lot of these packs he is opening had super short print rookies and even the lowered end like Platinum had tiered rookies that were so impossibly hard tofind that by the time you actually pulled LeBron you could have bought a hobby box or the card itself on eBay. These days the rookies are easier to find and you get cheap parallels. It’s why Panini charges $40 for a blaster now.
Thanks for sharing the 👑 chase very cool cards and nostalgic packs I like be the amount of Kobe cards that got pulled 🔥🔥🔥 next chase would like to see Kobe Bryant rookie chase
I was actively buying packs and boxes when King LeBron rookies hit!!! They were very hard to pull in most products as most were sp's... Topps, Topps Chrome, Bowman, Bowman Chrome, and UD victory were the easiest that I remember. However, the LeBron rc in the Topps Chrome and Bowman Chrome were not guaranteed 1 per box. It seemed like every other for TC and every 3rd box for BC... I had at least 10 LeBron Topps rc's and could not sell them for 10 dollars back in the day.. lol
I always wondered how hard those retail 2003-04 Topps Basketball Factory Sets were. I’m guessing the employees and/or dealers bought all they could find. The 2003 NBA and 2004 NFL classes, no doubt were bought up immediately.
Topps and Victory were easily the easiest way to pull a LeBron rookie card. The Topps rookies were not short printed and you could get packs with three or four rookies and some with none.
Not that hard, I worked at Target about this time and those sets would collect dust sitting on the shelves. In fact Shopko put them on clearance for $20 after the season was over. Those factor sets weren’t popular because a LeBron rookie was worth about $30 and there was grading but people back then didn’t send in a billion of the same base card to PSA. Plus no one wanted those sets because the cards were not r true rookie cards. They had gold foil and updated pictures. Topps did this with their football sets too from 1999-2003 and labeled them as Topps Collection sets.
The fact you not only didn’t get lebron, but not only that no melo wade or Bosh leads me to believe these may be searched and resealed. Or scanned by a cheap cat scan to see what in them before sold. A lot of corruption in the hobby.
They most likely come from boxes where those big names were already pulled. That’s why I’m very suspicious of any packs for sale online. Especially the products with these top tier rookies.
These are retail packs as well, Fleer made getting the top rookies near impossible. That why Ultra had regular seeded rookie at 1:4 and the Lucky 13 lottery picks were 1:24 and that was the hobby odds.
Also I pulled a Lebron 2003 fleer ultra but it was serial numbered and just graduated high school from my card dealer and he gave me a pretty penny a couple of boxes of Peyton manning chances and came up short wish I woulda kept the card but it was all about the experience!!
Man that was fun , how in the world did you not get a D wade , Carmello or Lebron ..i wonder if someone opened a box pulled the lebron and then sold the remaining packs …should of pulled 1-2 in all them packs..real sorry you didnt get one
It so nice to see that Kobe was right next to Pau in a couple of those packs! ❤

@@Kramer7969 It seems they do the opposite with the base version of rookies now.

The sad thing is that you didn't get James, Melo, Wade, or Bosh!
@@theorangeswami7981 It seems so improbable.
I liked the Jermaine O'Neal card. People tend to forget about him. Dude was a force

A small fortune in packs.

The Shaq card and reveal were flawless with that baby face.
Crazy not to get any of the top rookies out of all of those packs. No LBJ, Melo or Wade. 😢
Pullin kobes like a mad man!! Bunch of cards u pull I have to watch in slow motion
Nice Kobes and others bro but that Lebron it tough to pull or even a Melo tho

Everyone talks about those top four players. But the 2003 draft class was really deep.

I spent all my allowance when I was 10 looking for Lebrons and got none. Fleer, Topps, and UD purposely made them hard to hit.

i could be seeing things but i could’ve sworn some of those packs said year 2002-03 when lebron rookie year was 03-04.
Ouch. Got you some Kobe’s though!
