I realised they added in the walking straight backwards part in the Japanese version of Genie. It's such a fine adjustment and improved the choreography, making it look even more fierce! That takes a lot of skills from Taeyeon and also the coordination between the girls.

I became a full Kpop fan way back 2016 and most of the members already left the company. I don't care if I'm late but I still consider myself as a baby sone. One of my biggest regret is not stanning them early. Their talent, visuals, charisma and personalities are the ones who made them the NATION'S GIRLGROUP. My bias is Tiffany and to see her slaying the english rap here makes me so happy. They all slayed!!!
2022 this song never gets old. To be honest, no one could beat them when they were on the top. Even after 15 years from their debut, there is still no girl group that can reach their level. They are still present in the monthly brand rankings. They are a real nation girl group!
After all these years, I literally just figured out the double entendre that, when they do the opening,when they say “soweoneul malhae bwa”, soweon is us, and malhae bwa means “say it”, so the first line is actually asking us to cheer for them, (and also tell me your wish).
I was here for this concert! Everyone was screaming so loud when we heard the opening line. For me this was the highlight song for the entire night aside from the The Boys. Tiffany’s rap was truly iconic! ❤️❤️ the performance gave me goosebumps!

This video is one of those videos that makes you regret for thinking snsd is not that legendary after watching videos from other idols. The feeling and the aura and the stage presence is just totally different. Idk if you guys know what I mean but I also get this feeling when I rewatch Bigbang’s performances after watching some younger gen boy groups for a long period of time. Like when you watch other idols’ performances for a long time and start to think that they are reaching the 2nd gen level, but once you come back and rewatch their iconic performances you’ll realise that the gap between the two generations is still large.
well while there's many factors why 2nd gen is still superior in the performance and stage presence but what I experienced is now we can all agree that after 2ng gen era is over groups like SNSD, Bigbang, Suju, 2ne1, Wondergirls, TVXQ are probably the top groups who pioneered and steered 2nd gen. We have that too in 3rd gen also, and the scale is even bigger now. But there's one thing that is very different which is the competition back then is harsher, not talking about the number of groups bcs the numbers are higher now but the game was on every year bcs everyone trying to snatch the best title and hit songs are coming for lots of groups. Boygroups shouldn't be a mystery, the 3 groups I mentioned are always back to back competing and behind them groups like Shinee or B2St and 2PM even infinite who are all coming out with bop and hit songs. For girlgroups there are miss A, T-ARA, Kara, 4 minute, SISTAR, Fx who are all excellent performers with lots of hit songs. My point is, everyone is trying to up their games a lot back then with concept, skills, and performance and making them mature faster as an artist. 3rd gen has lots of great performers and some of them has great pressence but most of them still lacking and I think they'll get there but in a slower pace.

I only began to learn about SNSD (and because of them, K-Pop), by accident, in 2019, first from watching Sisters' Slam Dunk and then 'Girls Go To School' ( plus some interview shows and radio appearances) before watching ANY of their MVs...which I'd say is a good example of their significance to K-Pop as an international music genre. I can't choose between this, or the Jazz version as to which is 'best'...but it's great example of why, as great as SNSD are in MVs, they are truly exceptional performing live. I know a lot of people like to shit on SM ( for some very good reasons) BUT...SM really did go 'all-in' with SNSD.. I guess because the depth and breadth of talent was obviously there, along with the members' work ethic, and most importantly their passion for their vocation and their genuine respect and love for one another that didn't just allow them to survive a notoriously difficult industry, and not only meet its challenges, but rise above them, and set new, and higher standards. I'm convinced that SNSD were ( and still are) so damned good, or rather great, that, after the Jessica departure mess, SNSD definitively became their own 'brand', and SM ceased to be their 'agency' but rather became SM's ''partner'... an equal in the industry...not financially of course, but in reputation, and deservedly so. SM isn't "The Nation's K-Pop Agency" but SNSD ARE "the Nation's Girl Group" ( notwithstanding Red Velvet's current and deserved reputation and success).
Their performances are always the best, there’s something about them that’s really distinct and cant find in other girl groups.. they look so charismatic and powerful, it’s like whenever they perform they own the stage telling the audience, ‘this is us, this is how you do it, this is girls generation’ ❤ Legends ❤️

It's been years but I still love this song so much. SNSD was the first girl group that I loved so much, these girls were the reasons why I fell inlove with Kpop. When Jessica was no longer part of the group, I was devastated and heartbroken. It even made me lost my interest in Kpop for a couple of years. And now I'm starting to move forward and take notice on the younger groups, but SNSD will always be my first love. The Queens of Kpop. ❤️
Jesus, when all 9 perform, they are literally god tier. The power of 3x3. Second generations in general have that aura. They don't even have to try at all BUT SNSD took that to the next level. Gen 3 is good but shit, as I have said before, SNSD was ahead of its time.
Taeyeon and Jessica are the main vocalist while Tiffany, Seohyun and Sunny are the lead vocalist. Ya, Taeyeon's the leader of the group. Main Vocals are the best vocalist in the group who sing the loudest( u usually hear both Taeyeon and Jessica's voice during chorus when all of them sing) and they usually handle the challenging parts like high notes and ad-libs. Lead vocalist follow behind the main and have a lot of lines in the song. (Ik tht it seems like Tiff has the high notes and do the ad-libs but she was still only a lead. Even after Jess has left, the only main vocalist now is Taeyeon. Both Jess and Taeyeon are excellent with thier vocals and also control)

One of the best Genie performances. There's just one thing annoying me here. The camera NEVER focuses HyoYeon or Sooyoung, while the other girls has the focus even when it weren't their parts on the song. I mean, why did they do this? Nowadays Hyo and Soo are having more spotlight than before, but it still irritates me a lot.
I love the way they put Taeyeon in the middle during pre-chorus. Like it was the way of highlighting that she was the voice that was leading the group during this part they sang together

Jesus, when all 9 perform, they are literally god tier. The power of 3x3. Second generations in general have that aura. They don't even have to try at all BUT SNSD took that to the next level. Gen 3 is good but shit, as I have said before, SNSD was ahead of its time.

at the beginning, jessica, tiffany and taeyeon stood together. are they the main vocalists back then? it's like the leader of the 9 :)
Taeyeon and Jessica are the main vocalist while Tiffany, Seohyun and Sunny are the lead vocalist. Ya, Taeyeon's the leader of the group. Main Vocals are the best vocalist in the group who sing the loudest( u usually hear both Taeyeon and Jessica's voice during chorus when all of them sing) and they usually handle the challenging parts like high notes and ad-libs. Lead vocalist follow behind the main and have a lot of lines in the song. (Ik tht it seems like Tiff has the high notes and do the ad-libs but she was still only a lead. Even after Jess has left, the only main vocalist now is Taeyeon. Both Jess and Taeyeon are excellent with thier vocals and also control)

+MGZ13 XD but tiff got a lot more lines than jess in many of their songs... sometimes i feel tiff got more lines than taeyeon...but i think jess should have more coz i think she is the second best vocal in the group. (taeyeon is the best for sure) i dun understand SM's arrangement.
+MOB I also have the same feeling as you. In my point of view, it could be SM had thought about Jessica's situation for a long, long time. 'Cause in their songs from 2011 to 2014, I saw that Jessica's lines are seemly lesser than Tiffany and Seohyun, even than Sunny in some Japanese songs. Although we'd known Jessica as the second vocalist. So sad.... :(
+MOB What are you talking about.. in all of their lead singles Sica was just as an important part as Tae was. Just look at Mr Mr, The boys, I GOT A BOY(!!!!).. Sica was still a main vocalist in every way imo...

One of the best Genie performances. There's just one thing annoying me here.
The camera NEVER focuses HyoYeon or Sooyoung, while the other girls has the focus even when it weren't their parts on the song. I mean, why did they do this? Nowadays Hyo and Soo are having more spotlight than before, but it still irritates me a lot.
