I think this pattern should be avoid at 19:26 minute "The problem with this syntax is that a different callback is created each time the handleTabClick renders. In most cases, this is fine. However, if this callback is passed as a prop to lower components, those components might do an extra re-rendering." React Documentation. Great talk.
Is react only used on the WEB Netflix application and the XBOX, TV, iOS , etc maid on native language or do they work on just one APP and then create the respective apps.
People complanimg about es6 and framework instead of library. If you work with large applicafion you can't switch to es6 without rewriting everything. I think that react is a Lib but it can become a framework.
Netflix UI is horrid click on a movie donw-arrow to pick the episode, then try to set yourself better in the chair and accidentally move the mouse around and .. there you go, something else is now selected and your selection went who-knows-where and you have to find it again
Do not do exactly slide 18. Not readable... extract the shit out of each 'type' into typeShape constant and let it be exportable too so other cpt can use it.
I don't mind the sound but a senior developer who talks about best practice should not read from notes. If you've gone through all the pain to learn and excel you might be able to pull it off without much preparation. Not counting slide preparation.
flexible props is a bad, really bad idea. Agree with backdoors. In my opinion, components should have to be immutable all this setState should be controlled by some smart component
Its pity that the sound is so bad
yeah its kinda ironic that netflix can't take a simple talk and put it on youtube when they make their own tv series and film :O
true
Great talk! So many good points, thanks!

Great talk.
Mateus Fernando yes true, can you any idea or suggestion for good pattern for this case?
Great talk!! also really helpful to create UI library
Please start uploading at 1080p or greater. It's easier to follow the dev slides at higher resolutions.
Its Netflix! Its not like they have any experience creating and streaming high quality video! lol
Slides are also here if you want them: speakerdeck.com/marsjosephine/forwardjs-react-plus-x-best-practices-for-reusable-ui-components
great talk. very inspiring!
Regardless of bad sound quality or old syntax, her speech was quite informative.

how hard is it to turn the input on the mic down?
Cool
Please can someone explain the point about removing backdoors
Agreed, i don't think they made that point clearly enough
Hi, all ur UI talks are grt, but sound quality is bad
Excellent speech
i doubt it was a speech ;)
Oof, pre es6 react is so hard to read
Why aren't you using es6 class syntax?
Alex Leung Because its netflix and using standard js with es6 is not efficiënt. They would need to rewrite all the code.

React it's a FrameWork or library?
Александр Локтионов Library
semantics, it doesnt matter

Yeah I can't really see why all these cool JS frameworks are needed at all for their simple UI.
"REUSABILITY" !!1111
I guess the dislikes are for video and audio quality, not the content
Netflix can do better job in recording the talks, anyways great content.

It might have been a good talk to watch but I couldn't get past the horrible sound quality.

this sound made me stopped watching this video (
Bad Voice!!!
