I’ve never understood why every other law enforcement has to have probable cause to search your vehicle but you cannot tell a game warden he/she can’t search your boat. They get in and almost always find something to write you up for. They feel like they failed if they don’t find something they can at least write a warning for.
I respect every officer, never had an issue but I do have to say Environmental officers are some of the biggest ball busters I've ever seen. Here in RI they legit try so hard to get you on anything, even dock fishing they sneak up to you like ninjas.
Game warden has to check for over limits or animals that are out of season in your posession. Your 4th amendment rights are null and void with the game warden. That's just how it is. They couldn't do their job otherwise.
@@Picasofly I’m not disagreeing that their job would be difficult but isn’t that the nature of law enforcement. Think about this. Why is it ok to give up 4th amendment rights to protect wildlife but an officer cannot simply pull you over and check your car for guns. Wouldn’t the latter be protecting people’s lives. I back law enforcement, don’t get me wrong and have had nothing but mostly positive experiences with game wardens but I find it odd that game wardens do not have the same burden of probable cause or warrant that other law enforcement must have to search you. I have heard it explained that when you buy a hunting or fishing license you essentially agree to being searched. I disagree with that argument but if you follow the logic why then when you get a drivers license do you not also forfeit your rights? It’s something to ponder not something I’m actually too worried about since I try to make sure I’m legal every time I go out on the water.
As much as I hate being stopped it’s great to see the officers are keeping an eye on what’s going on. There’s prolly a lot of illegal activity goings on.
@bucfan probably not much going on out there besides a couple of dudes fishing in the big open ocean. What can they really do that could be so bad just floating out in open water?
They'll get you on your expiration dates too. If your extinguisher, flares, etc. are out of date, that's begging for a ticket although most officers will let you off with a warning.
In the UK there's the Small Boat Safety Scheme inspection to go through, the checked the fire extinguishers and they were almost new. He then found the old ones in a stern locker and said I could not have them on the boat as they were out of date. I commented that they may be out of date but they may still work and are a good stand by should the new ones do not put out the fire. He started to argue the point of being out of date, but the form did not have section for him to fill this out, so he OK'd it. I brought the subject up at a boat show safety stand and they did not have an answer also. Old units were kept on board and I used two to put out another boats fire at the dock.
Those folks have to keep the waters safe but I have to be envious of that weather and the ability to go fishing while us in the Northeast can't even see our lawns with all the snow...Great video.
That same officer stopped me on black water twice within a week. Once when I was having engine trouble, and the other time he checked to see if I got it fixed. He’s a super nice guy and doesn’t really bash you if you’re missing something simple.

This is a pretty common interaction offshore, I see nothing malicious about it at all. If you spend enough time out there, you'll get stopped plenty of times. It's clear why he stopped them. I'm sure 95% of the time someone stops after seeing them they're dumping fish. They always ask for safety equipment and for good reason. You're in the middle of the ocean, it's dangerous. He asks what he does for a living to determine if he was in the fishing industry. If he was, they would've gotten the ticket and not a warning. Pretty standard. In and out in short order. I think if a person is boating alone they should be able to abide by safety equipment standards by their choice only. Same with seatbelt laws in land. We don’t tell them what to eat and to exercise yet you hear of cops dying from heart attack all the time. Having a crew on board is different.
Just as an added note, at least on the Great Lakes, if your vessel has inboard engines with an automatic fire suppression system, that counts as a fire extinguisher, but you will still need the hand held one too. I also keep one in the galley and by the captains seat along with the automatic system.
I only had a 23' center console but still had 2 extinguishers on board. One at my console and the other in the bow. Almost all fires on outboard boats begin at the engine. So have one at the console and then space them further away so you have an area to fall back and grab a new one as one may not put the fire out. On a boat this size in the video, I would have 3. Over kill on a boat should be your norm.

Your response speaks volumes, tells me you either work for this agency, or you enjoy being bullied and falsely accused of violating the law.
@Ronald Stewart-You sir, are misinformed. When hunting turkeys in FL, the rule says that the hunter has to be at least 100 yards from a bait or feeding station. I wasn’t on anyone’s radar. The inept “officer” was working the neighboring property, and saw my setup when he crossed my property. He didn’t measure the distance from my setup to the permanent deer feeder that is on the food plot. He then called another warden, and they checked both me and my neighbor. Not sure how you reached that conclusion from my original comment. Same thing happened to me coming in to John's Pass in St Pete. I was coming through the span and I realized I needed bait for later fishing and because I turned around right there and headed a hundred yards offshore to where the bait was they ran up on me as fast as possible and asked me what I was doing. Once they checked everything and they saw no fish they did think that I was dumping fish. But all they found was some leftover chicken. And a Key West grunt that we didn't use for bait that was still swimming around in the live well.
I was a FMP officer in the Keys, yes your action would have had me all over you. That is a pattern of wrong doing but a fast check, brief conversation, and all would have been done. Have a nice day and I am gone. To be honest I would have been happy to see the 1 fire extinguisher. When the water is that calm I am looking for resource violations or who knows what, because there's always something bigger out there to find. That just how I did things though. Side note, people in Marathon still know who I am. I did my thing had a great time doing it while making a difference and not being a dick.

Instead of buying the sunpass you can login and create an account load up your account with money and they can take it out from there as you go if you don’t want to buy the pass for your car
I don’t know why they accuse people? they should just be doing a inspection of fish and equipment . I had a guy from fish and game ask me me how I did. I said not to bad. I invited on board to inspect. He asked if these were all my fish in the cooler I responded yes. Then he said how about here? (Different part of the boat)At that point I got mad but tried not to show it. I thought why ask the question of is this all your fish and then proceed to ask if there is fish in other areas of the boat. They need retraining if you ask me. Just do your inspection and leave out “is that all your fish” until the end. He made me feel dishonest when I didn’t do anything wrong. That’s why many people dislike them. Anyway nice video.
If they regulated commercial fishing better the fish population would be much more abundant. When you go offshore and spend over a $100 in gas alone, you should at least be able to keep a couple snapper

Glad to see law enforcement doing their job. God bless and keep them safe.
Happy to see some warm weather lol. It snowed here last night. Got 4.5 inches. Miss the fishing. Thanks for the video brant
They can take the money out of your account. Just buy a SunPass. They make two models. You put some money in and then drive on through and the account is debited.
Just relax and take it, the rape will be over soon.
that was a friggin monster AJ!
Oh wow. Happyjack!!!! I basically grew up fishing there. We had a camp about 20 down from the marina he is talking about. Next to Bill Sauk's place if anyone knows the name. Crazy how small it is and seeing someone who knows of it.
The cop had zero evidence yet he still accused you of breaking the law.
He must be a great guy
FWC has way more power than regular police believe it or not
@@downsh1ft167 only when it involves fish or game. They have been used for warrantless searches involving people who don’t hunt or fish. Crooked as fuck. From what I gathered they were all burned for it.
@@buckfutter99 ummmm, no...in Florida they have greater authority than any other officer...they can even go on Federal land in Florida, run traffic, serve warrants, what ever...an FWC officer is the real deal, and don't give them any guff or you'll find out quickly how illegal you really are.
@@ronaldstewart6332 omg federal land!!!! Noooo way!!!! My job puts me on federal land 5-6 days a week. Our CO’s have the same type of power. It would surprise you...
I miss and loved being stationed at PCOLA! Only the OG'S remember the McDonalds next to the main gym/weight room!!! AIRR class 94003! The class runs to the Lighthouse, especially when it was raining were awesome!!!
Grouper Trooper: I saw you throw over illegal fish.
Me: ......
Grouper Trooper: now I'm going to search your vessel top to bottom looking for anything I can ticket you for.
They are really bad in the Florida Keys. Really bad.
I have a SunPass and it should work for that toll in Pensacola. I live in Orlando.
Imagine that, they do have a system in place to “just take it from your account”.
Have you ever tried tying your spoon on the same end as the hooks are? I heard it helps with tangles, any thoughts?
Chicken minis with honey.....enough said!!!💯
I don't think I'll ever be able to go through Chik Fil A again without thinking about that Sunday School comment. Hilarious.
No, Chik Fil A's are closed on Sundays because they WANT you in Sunday School every Sunday!
Regardless it looked like a great time w/ friends and that's all that counts.
The cop was off the topic looking for illegal fish, but instead checking out fire tube. What a focus. He got nothing to do
You can buy the annual toll pass for Pensacola beach for $20. Problem solved. It links your tag number or you can get a sun pass transponder and it will read it and have it linked to your annual pass. Problem solved.
I almost always get pulled over by FWC everytime I go out. I can’t believe those reef donkeys coming up to hit that topwater. Off of Port Canaveral they always stay down in the wrecks! Nice vid!
How many ounces is the butterfly jig that you were using?
Love fishing in Pensacola! I’m from West Virginia and have had the chance to go 3 times.
They'll ticket you downtown too. I parked in those little box spaces the wrong way. Which I didn't think mattered. $10 fine.
What's the fishing reel you are using?
Game officers have a job to do also. I have been checked a few times and never have a problem. Have everything in order and be polite. Great fishing as usual.
We always do. I’m in agreement.
I quit fishing over 20 years ago when all this law badgering started. Just plain took the fun out of it for the small man
I got one of those toll violations. After going down there. I had a sun pass , the picture they sent was not my truck. I with you take the money from my account.
Living in the same area as you. I definitely hate that toll. They need to figure out something different for sure.
Loved the video. I hope to get a line in the water tomorrow now that the weather here in Texas is finally clearing up.
Instead of buying the sunpass you can login and create an account load up your account with money and they can take it out from there as you go if you don’t want to buy the pass for your car
i dont mind if the game warden shows up that how you get some good tips from and locations where the fish might be at and what there biting on
Hey Brent, if you’ll put the butt of your rod down your forearm, you’ll save your wrist. The leverage makes it easier.
Ain't that footage from when y'all got stopped months ago? I remember the fire extinguisher law.
You can pay 20 bucks for the annual pass for Pensacola beach and you don't have to worry about those toll violations.
Wishing we had the same weather here in South Eastern Ky! Ice and freezing rain vs your weather.
Lol, I’ll trade ya. Eastern Montana sucks
@@bobbycarr408 , dang brother... I’ll stop complaining. Lol
SUNPASS! Buy it at the toll both office!
Florida should accept EZ Pass. Get with the program, Florida!
When fishing offshore, do you use low speed or high speed reel?
A five gallon bucket is considered a fire extinguisher in NC
I live in Australia. We have size limits on fish and bag limits on fish. Do you have similar laws over there
Nice Video Be clad when red snapper season gets here i will be going done there when red snapper season is open love Red snapper
7:45 thats an amazing fight
Are you launching from chico? I thought it was at first
If they regulated commercial fishing better the fish population would be much more abundant. When you go offshore and spend over a $100 in gas alone, you should at least be able to keep a couple snapper
As always awesome vid bud n love yr enthusiasm!!!
you live and learn im 60 still learning
I haven't been fishing since I sold my Polar 18' custom center console and my brother passed. If you ever need a fishing buddy on the boat just for a day. Let me know. He'd be looking down on us and will give us tight lines.
That was wild getting the big AJ on topwater!
Dude in Nashville are roads are ice and a bunch of snow. I wish I was there fishing
I am from North West Indiana getting hammered by snow as I watch this video.
Great vid.offshore and in the bay is always the best
snapper any good?
I’ve never seen it but I do have a question have you ever caught a fish and dispatched of it because it’s bad for the ocean creeks etc. that you’re fishing?
If you catch an invasive species you it is illegal to put it back at least where I'm at
We fish out of Pascagoula and watching this video has me wishing I was headed out chasing fish versus gettin ready to go to work
I just show them my license and answer yes or no. I am never disrespectful but I have been hassled two many times for nothing.
Hassling people is what they seem to do the majority of the time. Get them off the water and park fwc at the dock if they want to check for fish.
Sad boat here in Texas. 0 degrees and 6 inches of snow.
Get a sunpass...its much easier...its what I use for the mid bay bridge
Florida paradise you have it all from up north dude
That same officer stopped me and my dad during snapper season
You should send the part where you hooked and landed the AJ to Shimano.
I love my Saragossa's!
Do a video on how long those lil' extiguishers last and how much fire they put out. You would be surprised at hoe inneffective they are.
Use them right and they work as intended. A little chem goes a long way if used properly. 🤛🏻
@@fishhunt9874 haha you've obviously never had to use one
@@CTity860
Well, I spent 30 yrs as a professional firefighter and I have used them a few times. I have trained people how to use them and I have used them myself in training demonstrations as well.
“speaking of chick-fil-a this video is sponsored by karl’s bait and tackle” what 🤣🤣🤣 how are they related but i must say karl’s does have EVERY lure you would ever be looking for
Get a sunpass Or epass. Epass save you money on tolls.
