I had always heard that Don Maples sold the original Samson I truck to both Bob Chandler and Seth Doulton at the same time somehow. There’s video of Bigfoot 7 (without logos due to Roadhouse filming which would put it at the middle of 1988) and Samson I as the only two trucks at a show in St. Peters Missouri (it’s on RUclips, look for “Bigfoot and Samson” as the video title). I believe that Gene Patterson was there driving the Samson truck while Jim Kramer was driving #7 (this is just speculation, it’s difficult to tell) Then there is another video that is listed as being from 1990 of a golden state promotions show featuring the truck as well as the rest of their “fleet” along with 4 wheel crazy. I don’t think anyone has ever been able to get a straight answer as to what happened or who did what and why.
I always had so much respect for Dan when it comes down to fabrication skills. Amazing work!! Can't wait to hear more. You could go on for weeks talking to Dan.
I remember watching BIGFOOT and The Muscle Machines as a kid (Just found it on DVD) and thinking how cool Warlord looked. Never could find the SST version in my area. I had always wondered how he came by Samson 2. Did Maples build S2 after selling S1 to Seth Dalton n GSP? Another awesome and enlightening interview. Speaking of, might try to interviewing Seth in the near future. Bet he d have some great stories. Thanks for posting.

I will be looking forward to next week. I have a feeling that his time at Bigfoot will be in the next episode and I'm definitely looking forward to hearing that. Especially the whole concept of the truck that revolutionized the industry...Bigfoot #8. As well as what else he's done with Bigfoot cause Dan has built the chassis's for #8-16 & 20.

I’m interested in hearing about him running over his friend because there’s never been an interview about it and I know it had to be devastating to him. How did it affect him and was it harder for him to drive in arena shows afterwards.
I wonder the politics Don maples was referring too is selling Samson 1 to Golden State promotions, running out the rest of his shows which he was able too then when GSP wanted it they find out Maples sold it to Bigfoot.... I wonder lol btw for u hardcore bigfoot fans that open trailer with the box on the front is Samson 1s original trailer.

He built Samson II while he still owned the first truck, right around the time he sold it in 88.
I remember that race and without this context never would’ve guessed it was his first run.

George was a dear friend of everyone's, it is too painful to talk about. We still struggle with this loss.
