I love how each one is different in my opinion I would rather have a toned silver coin even at a lower grade than a higher graded non toned coin. Toned coins are very original and rare thats why they are worth way more.
Since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, pricing on toned coins is all over the place. I enjoy toned coins as well, but I am not as confident in the values going forward. I am also concerned about fake toning. I understand some coins have been toned in the slab using some type of gas. I don't know how they do this and it is usually done with older slabs, but it is something to keep in mind. Thanks for making this video. I really appreciate your viewpoint. 👍
Definitely agree with the concern over fake toning. Thankfully it seems PCGS and NGC are cracking down on that. And yes, values are all over the place. Key is trying to gauge what is fair value and not bidding on emotions.
Hey man you've disappeared for a while, you're one of my favourite channels, I hope you're well and you'll be back soon!
Dude - I loveeee this video and I want more content on the topic of Monster Toned Silver Coin Types getting expanded on!
Good methodology. You price toned coins like an analyst would price a stock or real estate property!
I have a monster 1964 quarter. I’ve seen them sell for 150.o0.
That’s insane..
THANKS for sharing your knowledge Kangaroo dave🦘🤠 happy holidays to you 🏑🎄
that reverse looks like there are marks under the bell right?
Great point. I do think sometimes (very rare) PCGS overlooks hit marks when the eye appeal is that good.
I pretty much price them the same way as you do. The sharpness of the color and its overall level
of Neon determines the value. Comparing with like examples and rarity of toning for the date and mint are huge too. I did a video comparing value on 3 fully reverse toned common date Morgan’s
$250-$125-$70 and the $70 one had the highest book value but the $250 had the craziest neon toning
Great points! Ill have to find that video
Yah it was my second toner Tuesday video about 2-3 months ago ( comparing values on 3 fully toned Morgan’s)
Just subscribed to your channel 👍
Hello, I have a toned coin. Could I have you look at it and give me a value based on your experience.
I have a graded franklin that has a monster and I mean monster gold tone on reverse and graded a 65 so should I ask much more than book value?
Based on how you described it, yes definitely. Easy way is to get good photos and send it to auction. GreatCollections is a good avenue for that
Did You know natural toned coins do not tone on rim and edge , and almost all of the real natural tone coins only tone on one side. This was told to me years ago i mean years ago from a numismstic that works in pcgs . Now a days all toned coins are toned all over lol!!
There is no reality where ANY coin, regardless of how attractive the toning, is valued at more than 2-3x Grey Sheet. Unfortunately, there are a plethora misguided ‘collectors’(mostly new to the hobby) who believe in this nonsense.
LOL. You either 1) aren't in the monster-toned market, or 2) don't understand basic economics so how can you make such an ignorant statement. Go to Instagram and follow all the monster toned coin collectors like auroraborealiscollection and colorbombedcoins and you will see a lot of deals being done. I've personally bought and sold two monster toners over $10k each and made a significant profit. I've bought more for my personal collection. Collectors are understanding that monster toners are 1 of 1 and are a lot more beautiful than standard coins so the market is finally finding its equilibrium now.
