You do really good work. I wish there were mechanics around the washigton County area, where I live, that do the great job you do Dave.

Looks like a really great idea Dave. like you said it is inexpensive and stops alot of that oil misting

Hi Dave, a lot of good ideas here except recirculating the head breather oil. The breather from the heads will be full of condensate (water) mixed with oil. If you put that back into the crankcase you will eventually destroy the main bearing. Hopefully you have discovered this already.

Only mixed with condensate if the engine is never warmed fully to operating temps to "boil" out the moisture. Head breather oil/mist is still exposed to the same combustion gases bypassing the rings and making its way up to the heads thru the cylinder vents. Its all the same oil.

Hi william, I gave that a lot of thought , however, when I pull cam covers off of bikes that have been started and not ridden to get the engine up to termperature, I see the same amout of condensation and oil contamination in the cam chest. I think the most important thing is to do is not start the bike unless it will be ridden long enough to get the oil hot enough to keep the condensation from forming and this will burn off what condensation has accumulated is in the engine.

The condensation in the cam chest is coming from oil breakdown not from the heads. I have a catch can on my head breather and get about 2oz of water oil mixture every 2k miles. I wouldn’t want that in my crankcase or my combustion chamber.
      Regards

I haven’t found a check valve light enough to work

I have the Trask check m8t….
I spent $ on that at the time… your idea is way cheaper!!

With this crank case pressure relief system will you smell oil more than normal?

Hi AJ.No, you should not smell and oil.
