Did you know you can stick a taper candle into the giant containers of crisco (like club size) and you’d have an emergency light and heat source that lasts a super long time? A good item to stock up on since it’s multipurpose.
If you put the product in a mylar bag with an oxygen absorber, the critters will die anyway. just make sure you remove as much air as p[ossible before sealing the bag. It would help to sift the flour like they did in the old days to remove any critters and larvae. The best way is to combine what was done in the old days and then add the additional modern technologies (mylar bags freezing, oxygen absorbers ...) on top of it.
Okay I had no idea flour could last past 6 months!!! I am SO happy to learn this!! And the tip about the hardened honey, amazing!!! wow, this video was GOLD!! Love you, friend!
The best way to reabsorb the separated sugar crystals from the honey is in a hot water bath. The only issue is that if it's in a plastic container, chemicals leech out of the plastic into the honey. You should never use the microwave with plastic containers. The best solution is to put the honey in a glass container. Then you can microwave. Otherwise you may need to cut the plastic container open to remove the honey before heating.
For flour, put the bag in your deep freeze (we have a chest freezer) for a week. It kills any bug eggs that might be in there. Then store as you would before, but now, bug free.
Be careful with moisture. You should leave your bag of flour out in a low humidity room for another week before putting it in either a Ziplock bag, vacuum seal bag, or mylar bag. Ther freezer pulls moisture from the product but as soon as you remove it from the freezer moisture gets pulled in and the difference in temperature can cause condensation from the ambient air.
Was introduced to you by the ninja and totally love you! Thanks for what you share--from the backstory regarding your family member's fat medical bill/s to how it really helped your RUclips channel take off into a lucrative business, the fact regarding how the freeze dryer ultimately pays for itself in the end, the tips and tricks you share, etc etc etc. Thank you!!!
Wheat was also found in the pyramids, just piled in a corner that sprouted and grew. Food was amazing before Corporations decided they could make things in a lab and make more money.
My mom feed her old wheat to her hens but you have to cook it so that they can eat it. She had wheat for 28 years or older. Even beans can store for very long time.
Dry beans get hard after 3-5 years. They will not soften up when cooked. I had to throw out a huge bucket of them. I plan to put them in quart jars with oxygen absorbers next time and see how that works.
FYI, the natural peanut butter from sams and Aldi are made with palm oil, not vegetable oil. It will outlive peanut butter that is made with vegetable oil. I’ve had it up to 3 years. Stock up!
You can use them just like you would use the ingredients when they are fresh. All you need to do is rehydrate the vegetables first. If you're making something really liquidy like a soup, you don't even need to rehydrate first, they'll rehydrate in the soup.
A very nice list, but, please please so many people now know What they need Not How Much they need per person. This is going to create a great deal of chaos among those good folks who Thought they had a hedge on tough times coming. Do another video from this perspective PLEASE
Just learned that my pure maple syrup was MOLDY today!
I was like, what in the heck?
Now I know to REFRIGERATE IT!
Thank you! 🥰
In more humid climates I’ve found the pasta needs long term storage measures to stay fresh and edible for years.
I just stick mine in the fridge
I built up a small stash of food, especially with dried pastas, spaghetti sauce, and dried beans when I was getting the extra Covid food stamps money.

That's the healthiest use for Crisco.
They work. Just take it out of any plastic container, since plastic is flammable (#10 cans are great to use). Don't leave unattended.
I've heated food "meal in a jar" on one more than once.
We’ve been storing our flour with the brown paper bags and then food saving them. We freeze it before we vacuum seal it.
Why do you freeze it?
@ogarcia777 it kills any little critters that might be in it, they can't survive such low Temps.

You can buy dried green peas in most shops too they are super cheap and will last decades and rehydrate in your dishes really well

Wheat was also found in the pyramids, just piled in a corner that sprouted and grew. Food was amazing before Corporations decided they could make things in a lab and make more money.

Is there a way to try the Keystone meat without buying the bulk package?
Walmart has it in small cans!
The link for the videos is not working.
Kim, ever heard of "water depression pie?" by Paula Dean, I found it interesting.
yes! I'm actually working on a video about it.
Peanut butter. Turn upside down so thr oil stays on top of jar n doesn't dry out.
I have never heard opened pure maple syrup needs to be refrigerated? 🤔 Mine isn't. 😬
Be careful. I kept my maple syrup out until I got mold.

As a family that's something you need to figure out for yourself. Do you really want to depend on someone else for that information?
Where do I find the links to the depression era Ones that you mentioned?
I just linked them in the description box
Hello 👋 😊
Hello
Do you have your own freeze dryer?
Oh good I’m not the only one that buys 50lbs of flour at a time 😂
❤😍😘
They uncovered honey in the Egyptian pyramids that was thousands of years old an still unspoiled. Google it.
