unlike other toys, this was one of the longest lasting enjoyable toys ever. bases, robots, vehicles - other toys were just happy to show up and do battle with or around him. get this for your kids. they would thank you but they'll be too busy playing with it
Just scored an excellent condition Scorponok for $99 shipped. All original, including the head, shield, helmet, Fasttrack, and that's about it. Still for $100 a great start. Now the rest of the accessories are going to bring the cost up...but I don't care. It's Scorponok! He deserves completeness. Nice review. As someone who never had (but wanted) him, it is nice to get a detailed rundown on the features.
@@G1Hexatron Me too. I was actually sort of out of the Transformers at the time this was released (I'm 43, so I guess I was just going into HS when the later G1's were out) but I did get Headmaster Hard Head and thought the whole Headmaster thing (with the bio levels that moved when the head was inserted) was really cool. I saw this and really wanted it but was convinced at the time that I was "too old" for toys. Guess I'm still not too old for toys ;)
@@G1Hexatron Nothing wrong with that my friend. G1 stuff is the best "hand me down" any kid can get :) I bet your brothers were thrilled. Keep up the great reviews!
I sold my GI Joe "Cobra TerrorDrome " at a garage sale when I was 7-9 years old, 100% complete for $8. If I think about it longer I may weep. Crap! Sold the Thundercats' base with the "laser-tag" feature, complete for about $8 too. Ouch. Thanks again for posting these videos! I hope to see more soon!
Whoah! Never seen these titans in comparison before and I'm amazed at the size difference! By the time these characters came out, my attention was placed elsewhere. Great stuff!
Recently picked up a G1 Scorponok, but he was missing just about all of his accessories, so I couldn't display him in battle station / city mode. He looks okay in robot and scorpion mode though.
They've had a Scorponox for sale at the store I get my G1 figures from. It is just the base, no Accessories for $99. Don't know if I should buy him and find the rest on Ebay or wait to find the full figure. I got all the other City bots though. Still need 2 parts (A car and radar dish) for Fortress Maximus and a building piece for Metroplex.
I remember when I was collecting G1 Transformers, My Scorponok was complete except for the head. I ended up paying about $100 for the head. Sigh........the good ol days......
In the rebirth. It seems like Scorponox didn't have his own mind or personality. He just seemed to be a large body for Lord Zarak. The same too with Fort Max in the cartoon too.
Great review. I hope one day they reissue him, but in scale with Fort Max. That would be amazing!! Someone elase has probably already mentioned it but, The tallest vintage G1 Dicepticon is Overlord. only by a smidge. barely an inch, but he's the winner on that one. Sorry for being an ubbergeek but I couldn't help myself. ;)
Yeah, Scorponok would definitely benefit from a bigger, 3rd-party replacement head. I also wish he had more human-like hands instead of scorpion claws.
I'm a lucky duck- I believe my Scorponok is 100% (his little gray plug in radar-sensor thingies and the orange elevator with the orange tools are so easy to lose! I'm almost afraid to check right now in case I'm wrong. Have people started 3D-printing small pieces like these to sell online? Same for missiles, guns and smaller parts? If I had a 3D-printer I would do exactly that- but would clearly state "this is a 3D printed replacement piece." Couldn't sleep lying or scamming people. It when it comes to my personal 3 favorite 80's toy lines (Transformers, He-Man, GI Joe) I would get a few large cases with 36 or so drawers each and label each drawer as I print up spares. He-Man weapons/accessories, Transformers and GI Joe
-oooh I had him... nice memories, a pity I sold him... just remember the feeling of having this great lump of wonderful plastic in my hands... a cool thing is that my "mum" hated his fasion sense, I mean his color combo...
Oh that nostalgy.... Unfortunally my mother threw all my transformers and He-Man, and pretty much all other toys away... I want my Scorponok back :P wonder where it is now.. In transformers heaven propably.
Haha. Some of my stuff did also pass down to my 7 year younger and toy violent brother. But he claims to this day that he never got them. And mom claims she did not give them to him because i wanted to save them. Both mom and dad claims the would never have thrown away mu stuff, but still, they are all gone. And ive been through all our stores and old boxes now in the summer. Theyre gone.
Just like Zarak and Scorponok in the Headmaster series, Zarak was the giant robot, Scorponok was the Headmaster, who was a Decepticon that left Cybertron when the war started etc.
he doesn't mention it, but that decepticon sticker on his crotch area is heat sensitive. hold your finger/thumb on there and it lights up purple and green. not being weird, it's a fact!
One of the coolest G1 Transformers... just look at those awesome colours!

What An EXCELLENT Review...I Had To Subscribe To Your Channel! (Plus I'm With You 100% On The "Nothing After G1" Thing!) Nothing Trumps G1!!

great review, aquestion for your pod cast, did any collect or watch gobots?

love the claw holding the gun
cool review thanks for upload....

I collect g1 transformers
My brother too.
Headmasters are awesome
this is great! thanks man

Apparently its in speculation tht theyre making a titan class scorponok
-oooh I had him... nice memories, a pity I sold him...
just remember the feeling of having this great lump of wonderful plastic in my hands... a cool thing is that my "mum" hated his fasion sense, I mean his color combo...
funny you should mention that, mp thundercracker is in the works, haha its retro now
Get ready to feel the sting of Scorponok!
he's a great g1 figure! but the miss-match between him and fort max is nut's.
can you imagine a scorpion the size of fort max, that would of been crazy huge.
Oh that nostalgy.... Unfortunally my mother threw all my transformers and He-Man, and pretty much all other toys away... I want my Scorponok back :P wonder where it is now.. In transformers heaven propably.

Yer, deep down I know you're right about them not up scaling him, but a geeks gotta dream! ;)
I didn't know he came with a little tank guy, wonder why the fictions never used these chacacters (like Sixgun) like they did Cerebros.
***** I didn't realise Cerebros wasn't in Headmasters. I liked his character from Rebirth
+Harry McCafferty He was in Headmasters, it's just he and Fortress Maximus aren't treated like separate people.
Just like Zarak and Scorponok in the Headmaster series, Zarak was the giant robot, Scorponok was the Headmaster, who was a Decepticon that left Cybertron when the war started etc.
***** It's the right way, it's just that in Japan it is in reverse.
My favorite city SPOCK
3:02 Everyone always forgets Full Tilt ;(
That isn't Full Tilt, I believe that is called "Scamper" (or something like that).
It's fastrack
No, what he was saying was that he remembered all the other citybots minions, but not full-tilt, Tryticon's.
Oh Yeah I will always remember full tilt even thought he never got a role in the cartoon and can be easily forgotten
He was in "Transformers: Tataki" as a playable character but I doubt anyone would actually use him...
WHY CAN,T THEY TAKE BEASTWARS RAMPAGE AND RENNAME HIM SCORPONOK
Time to check into a printer. And always honest "this, that and this are reproductions for display purposes."
he doesn't mention it, but that decepticon sticker on his crotch area is heat sensitive. hold your finger/thumb on there and it lights up purple and green. not being weird, it's a fact!
The biggest G1 Decepticon(Japanese included) is Overlord.
i subscribed to him for no reason lol
Scorponok is a joke compared to fortress maximus. He could easily get crushed by him!
