I went to this place after finishing my Junior year in high school. After it closed, I remember seeing it in the distance from the highway on my way to Vegas, back when I used to live in Los Angeles.
I was hear the owner of this water park was a bad guy I was hear it was a time share place then the owner of the water park took all the money from every one and ran off
I have relatives in California, so my family does a road trip this way every year. I can't tell you how many times I've driven past this and wanted to stop and walk around. Cool to see what it looks like up close!
Thanks for the video Adam. In the 60s, 70s, and 80s, developers built water parks like this one to profit from car travelers going to places like Las Vegas etc. The land is very cheap, but with an isolated attraction like this one, I think few people would stop with their families to go there, most would just keep on going to Las Vegas. The town of Baker Ca, had a water park near by that also went broke.
I spent a couple amazing summers there as a kid, first when it was lake Delores, then when it was rockahoola even had a season pass. So sad that it's as you said, just a memory.
i've driven by this a few times coming out of vegas. no wonder it failed its in the middle of nowhere. there's also an abandoned house up on the hill next to it that looks pretty spooky
2 years later and it still is abandoned. Looks worse now. I was there just last Sunday on 8/29/2017 or whatever day Sunday was on might have been Saturday. Really cool place. I want to go back and visit again.
I drive a semi & I've passed this place dozens of times - ALWAYS wanted to check it out but now, thanks to A.T.W., I don't need to! Hooray! Thanks for posting, Adam! Keep on Woo-ing!
Ahh. The California Desert. SAND, WIND, SNAKES. (Oops, didn't mean to yell at you.)...tarantulas , great gaping, left over holes. Glad you didn't get injured. Always love your videos.
i live like 40 minutes out from there in barstow california i remember going there as a kid was an amazing place last i was there i was about 8 or 9 years old im 21 years old now and i remember every single moment of this place had very amazing moments there when i was young its been closed down and left to rot for 8-10 years now very sad and very awesome to see an awesome youtuber to check the place out brought out good memories thanks adam! :)
Quite the place back in it's heyday I imagine. It's a shame to see all these old attractions go, that's for sure. Mad props to you for braving the desert heat, and all those dangerous open pits to bring us this one! Rock on sir!
Does Adam have a kick starter campaign, to pay for his tetanus shots? Barefoot near rusty pipes, and dirty water...I know....I sound like a mom...I just turned 36 and started worrying about stuff all of a sudden
Wish you had a wide angle lens. would be so cool to get more in the screen ;) Loved this video. Manteca water slides shut down as well. I dont what happened to the lands there. I miss going to Manteca waterslides in CA. My first time bungee jumping was there
Visited here two weeks before you uploaded this video for some quick pictures... It has some interesting history to it, too bad I didn't get to see you there!
I know this video is old and I've never actually been to this waterpark, but it's so surreal seeing how it's deserted and in a state of decay now. I do remember the commercial playing on tv when I was little. I'm 32 now.
Great Video Adam, I really like your urban exploration videos, (well all of them) but especially those. I think I would eventually like to do something like this, thanks for inspiring me Adam
this is very cool.good job.yes looks very dry out there .the weather is so different then what your use to in florida.its dryer and no humidtiy like we have..
In the motorcycle movie THE YOUNG CYCLE GIRLS (1978) --- Also titled Cycle Vixens, the girls stop at this waterpark for some fun. Great footage of yesteryear at that park !
you can tell people set some stuff up for skating, the slide pieces help up with rocks for supports. been a while since i skated but id love to hit a spot like that.
So funny cause this was posted the day we came back from vegas a year ago and we drove by this place and I kept buggin my mum to stop (unfortunately I wasn't behind the wheel at the time) so I could explore. Only reason we didn't was because there was a single parked car there. Coulda been Adam... it was during the day too
Holy crap, I think I actually went to this once in like 2003. I had to look it up after you posted this because I have a specific memory of floating down the little river on a yellow tube when I was like 13. I remember quite a few people showed up
H2 O off the road from LA/SD out to Las Vegas. You can see it from the road. Not sure the exact location. But there's so much security. I've tried to get in many times and have been chased off.
It's cool to see more of this abandoned water park in the middle of nowhere. Was hoping you would visit as I always wanted to see it Wooified! Shango066 visited this park not too long ago. I would post a link but I don't want to upset you. He got caught by the sheriff who allowed him to leave. A cool place I want to visit one day.
I think watching a video about this park is what prompted RUclips into suggesting one of Adam's videos for me! The video in question inter spliced clips from the promo video of the water park; very haunting seeing a once thriving park with hundreds of people laughing and playing left to rot and be forgotten. BTW Adam just a suggestion; how about having your intro "....join me shall you" then roll title sequence?
For those of you familiar with rave festivals and insomniac events .... Insomniac once did a party there just before it closed down for good.... The party was super cool!
It would be great if you had old photos and a small history lesson of the places you visit. It would really fill in the story for the viewers and probably bring you many more hits. Similar to your extensive knowledge of Disney Parks.
so I am a major car nut and on the U.S. Version of Top Gear they were testing cars and they had said they pulled over near an abandoned water park and they raced through the lazy river but they did not say the name. THIS IS THE PARK woo has scenes in his video that were filming locations for the show and I have the episode to prove it. I had always wondered where that place was and I finally found it
I know, at least someone knows about it except me I remember that in the episode the first challenge was to cut the alternator belt and drive without it
This place was a really great idea. The only bad thing about it is that it's way too far from the city where people can use public transit to get to it -- especially kids -- that's why it failed.
+GrumpyDoesMC Google the park who story there it didn't fail inspection it was a money thing...come on you can't be that nieve. ..someone exploring the park recently spray painted that as a joke....wow...Google the park...
+flashy5150 Nah. It was only 20 miles from Barstow, a pretty sizeable town. It's the only good sign for civilization along I-15 until you hit Las Vegas (where most people go for vacations). But hey, if you wanna visit, it's easy. Take exit 206 off I-15, and turn left. Turn left again and you'll see the ruins about a half mile to about a mile down the road. You can walk straight in.
+qwasd0r Because this was along a busy corridor. People from Southern California usually vacation to Las Vegas, and it's a long trip (about 175 or more miles). People mostly use I-15, and it's just off the interstate. The purpose of this water park was to suck up some of the money that some people use for gambling in Vegas.
There was a huge airsoft game held there it's called op lion claws rocka hula, you can see almost all of the slides and everything still pretty much there but still abandoned.
Great video as always. Very interesting how it has decayed over the years. Im wondering what happened to all the slides. For a place in decay there doesnt seem to be much debris lying around
No I read a whole bio on this they can't open it to expensive to get the water in and I believe they sold it for something else...not a theme park though
I was there a week ago, quite a bit of flooding from the previous rain. And we got kicked out by a guy in a truck driving around. Probably had to add security due to all the people coming in.
The place was originally called Lake Delores water park had to close due to parasites in the water in the late 70's reopened as Rocka - Hula didn't make it either
The name "Rock-A-Hoola" comes from the 1961 Elvis Presley film "Blue Hawaii". In it, he sang a song called "Rock-A-Hula Baby". I fail to see the relevance of this name for a waterpark in a desert.
search 34°56′54″N 116°41′15″W using Google Earth to see the park's remains, then select HISTORICAL IMAGERY in the VIEW menu and run the slider back to around 2006 to see the slides still intact. There were quite a few!
a thousand years from now archiologists will say they discovered a temple
lol yes a temple a new religion we acomadate them . in our lifes so not to offemd fk them
I went to this place after finishing my Junior year in high school. After it closed, I remember seeing it in the distance from the highway on my way to Vegas, back when I used to live in Los Angeles.
The "failed" graffiti had me in hysterics! Thumbs up if you caught it! :D
Lol, the Inspectors test sign.
***** FAILED! Lmao!
It took me a minute but I finally noticed it! xD
Haha I seen that also, I'm surprised Adam didn't capitalize on that one...
I saw it was shut down due to a massive lawsuit from an employee who was injured using the slide during off hours.
I was hear the owner of this water park was a bad guy I was hear it was a time share place then the owner of the water park took all the money from every one and ran off
+jonathan Last 😂😂😂 no that's not true, the water park was in debt...
Imagine throngs of happy kids screaming with joy and excitement as they slid down the water slides into the pools.
I have relatives in California, so my family does a road trip this way every year. I can't tell you how many times I've driven past this and wanted to stop and walk around. Cool to see what it looks like up close!

A gm, did the water park close because it went broke?
I'm a little disturbed by the fact that he's wearing flip flops while urbexing. yikes.
drfetusface, what does 'urbexing' mean? Btw, i respect your opinion.
I spent a couple amazing summers there as a kid, first when it was lake Delores, then when it was rockahoola even had a season pass. So sad that it's as you said, just a memory.
i never peed in a pool before. now a lake, that's a different story
"probably urinating right where I'm standing"
i've driven by this a few times coming out of vegas. no wonder it failed its in the middle of nowhere. there's also an abandoned house up on the hill next to it that looks pretty spooky
Thank you Adam for going there. Every time I go to California I pass by this place not knowing what's there, thanks for showing this place it's great!
2 years later and it still is abandoned. Looks worse now. I was there just last Sunday on 8/29/2017 or whatever day Sunday was on might have been Saturday. Really cool place. I want to go back and visit again.
I loved this video. Its cool to see the water park but so sad to see it shut down.

Awesome Adam , you never disappoint .. Seriously great !
When I was a kid it was called Lake Deloris. It was kinda like Action Park in New Jersey.
Visited here two weeks before you uploaded this video for some quick pictures... It has some interesting history to it, too bad I didn't get to see you there!
I have been waiting ages to see you get to Rock A Hoola!! There's not much left out there, but it was still on the list.
It's weird that this place is closed. Building a water park in a desert seems like such a great business model.
Thank you for being honest about what people did in the lazy river. The world needs more honesty.
...and there are SOME things that are better left UNSAID-!!!
Loved the vid here. Hadn't seen it in awhile. Miss ya, Adam!!!!
I was wondering what that was because everytime i go to vegas i pass that
love when u do abandoned theme parks like this. please do more!
I just watched another person's video about this place. They were way too serious! Always love watching your take on things!
this is one of my favorite main channel videos.
I still recall when that water park was still active. Please tell me you stopped at Calico Ghost town!!
I drive past this place on the way to Vegas all the time. I was curious to see what it looked like up close; Thanks Adam.
Adam you are the coolest keep on going 👍 never stop exploring as my grandfather would say.
It's so sad to see the cool stuff you missed today gone and now abandoned, since some of us has never heard or seen this.
Excellent job as usual Adam.
One of your best narritives...
I was worried about you Adam. That tire at the beginning looked like Robert from the movie "Rubber."
keep up the great work! like your sunglasses by the way. random compliment!
I always wondered what was that place every-time I passed by going to and from Vegas. Now I know. Thank you!!
this is very cool.good job.yes looks very dry out there .the weather is so different then what your use to in florida.its dryer and no humidtiy like we have..
Been there! I always pass by when I'm on my way to Vegas! Rob Dyedek did a episode there too.
Your videos are awesome!! Your NUTZ to want to explore that stuff alone.. But I ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE STUFF LIKE THIS!!
Keep posting!! YOUR NUTZ!!!
Quite a story behind this place. Thanks for the investigative reporting, Adam.
I've been looking for a video of what happened to Lake Dolores.
an employee went on one of the water slides after closing time and ended up paralyzing himself and then sued. the park ran out of money
Randalyn Phelps I remember seeing the swings and slides on the commercial and thinking the place looked dangerous as hell.
+Randalyn Phelps people suing for being a dumbass. good job, america!
In the motorcycle movie
THE YOUNG CYCLE GIRLS (1978) --- Also titled Cycle Vixens, the girls stop at this waterpark for some fun. Great footage of yesteryear at that park !

Looks like a good spot to skate and paint. Noticed the two woo stickers at the entrance ;)

coming back to this video 7 years later and I can still sing the adamthewoo theme song
I love your videos Adam! You're so funny
The hardest working Man on You tube. Oh yeah this rules.Good Job
Ive passed by this so many times never stopped
This was Lake Dolores when I was a child. That was the water park to go before Raging Waters came around in 1982.
I think watching a video about this park is what prompted RUclips into suggesting one of Adam's videos for me! TGaming100 They did! They even hit (and dragged) the abandoned mattress under the bridge. :D
I know, at least someone knows about it except me I remember that in the episode the first challenge was to cut the alternator belt and drive without it
wild rivers in Irvine, cali is another water park that closed a long time ago. now we only have soak city and raging waters left!
No we have more like pharaohs lost kingdom water park
This place was a really great idea. The only bad thing about it is that it's way too far from the city where people can use public transit to get to it -- especially kids -- that's why it failed.
Not only was it far away from metro cities but imagine what clorine and dessert sun can do to you
GrumpyDoesMC I'm Canadian and I really liked this water park, it was a little too far from civilization, and that's what killed it.
+GrumpyDoesMC Google the park who story there it didn't fail inspection it was a money thing...come on you can't be that nieve. ..someone exploring the park recently spray painted that as a joke....wow...Google the park...

@@MultiBlueblanket NOT ANY MORE-!!
im surprised no scrappers made it out there yet, small fortune out there man
Another great video thanks adam
Why would you open a water park in the desert?
+qwasd0r Because this was along a busy corridor. People from Southern California usually vacation to Las Vegas, and it's a long trip (about 175 or more miles). People mostly use I-15, and it's just off the interstate. The purpose of this water park was to suck up some of the money that some people use for gambling in Vegas.
I wonder. hmmmm hot desert, cold water park. idk it doesn't really add up.
Mortal Thought What I meant was, the amount of water they'd to replace each day must have been massive. In an area where's no water to begin with.
this is my thought behind arizona and nevada but for some reason people keep building....
FOR THE HELL OF IT(?)
There was a huge airsoft game held there it's called op lion claws rocka hula, you can see almost all of the slides and everything still pretty much there but still abandoned.
I am about 99% sure that Top Gear USA did some filming for one of their episodes there
I was waiting for you to eventually visit this place, I did a couple videos of the place about a year ago.
They filmed an episode of US TopGear at this location once.
i drive by that every time i visit friend's in California i always was wondering what it looked like thanks for the video
Great video as always. Very interesting how it has decayed over the years. Im wondering what happened to all the slides. For a place in decay there doesnt seem to be much debris lying around
I love the way your mind works :)
Very interesting Master Woo:)
Many thanks for taking the heat for us!
Cheers;)
I'm not sure if a water park in the middle of the desert is a brilliant or terrible idea. Water retention must be a nightmare.
I heard that they are going to open it again... Lets hope they do, its sad seeing it decay when I go on the I 15. :(
No I read a whole bio on this they can't open it to expensive to get the water in and I believe they sold it for something else...not a theme park though
Tami Gorman Oh
Dont think Mike Rowe has to worry about his narrator job any time soon
I was there a week ago, quite a bit of flooding from the previous rain. And we got kicked out by a guy in a truck driving around. Probably had to add security due to all the people coming in.
Cowabunga Bay Las Vegas is showing some tribute to this water park with their toilet bowl slide called "Rock a Hoola"
dude... ur vids are classic
The slides were sold to another water park in Canada if I remember correctly.
it seems very dry and hot where you are. everything seems very dry and hot due to the weather conditions.
Sweet I've always wondered if you did this place but here it is haha
0:22
What's that moving under the fallen tree?
I just passed this place on my way to Vegas on Friday and it looks really creepy but interesting
The place was originally called Lake Delores water park had to close due to parasites in the water in the late 70's reopened as Rocka - Hula didn't make it either
Wow, there's literally no graffiti!
Nice work, it must have had a strange atmosphere.
Great Video. This place looks familiar for some reason
The name "Rock-A-Hoola" comes from the 1961 Elvis Presley film "Blue Hawaii". In it, he sang a song called "Rock-A-Hula Baby". I fail to see the relevance of this name for a waterpark in a desert.

6:08 Best Buy! And Gulf station.
I'm surprised those were left behind! Those were cool graphics, some hipster would love to have those in their loft
finally you did this one
Very cool tour!
Should have worn combat boots for this adventure.
This place looked like it was amazing when it wasn't abandoned. Why did it close down?
The lazy river looked epic!
The place was in too much debt, it had 3 million in debt in 3 years
epicspiedude Wow.
Pause the video at 4:22. The water park failed an inspection.
Brad Spector Oh I see it now. Thanks.
03:29 "Joylandddd...Amusementtt Parrkkk"
