If you love things with engines at all, you simply must experience a 2 stroke V-twin at least once. No video could ever convey the glorious induction sounds and feel the air ripping apart as it's sucked in. These are so very rare and collectible in the US...wish we had more.
People have a funny idea about the big RS. It's not stupidly quick, it feels like a 400 4T but with less torque. The noise is great, but it's no 2T GP replica. Those things are mental 90 HP razorblade powerband animals. The only place the RS really shines in bigger company is in the corners. It genuinely is a razor blade. It's so light and the brakes are not working hard, so both tyres and brakes have loads to give. A fast rider on an RS will make an average rider on a 600 look slow on a track, but on the road the cubes and torque count. I chased a racer in the 600 SS class and he left me for dead every straight. But 55 to 60 HP and 130 to 140 HP in similar chassis with less than 20 KG of weight? No competition. I would still love to put my CR500 up against an RS2.5 to see what would happen. Similar power, CR is lighter and the RS has longer legs and better cornering.
