    kovalev is an absolute legend and was really formidable in his prime
    but even then his defense wasn't the best. he was never a defensive savant by any stretch of the imagination.
    acutally it was sprobably slightly below average,
    but he compensated with very good jabs, solid 1 2s, and enough speed and length to step back out of the way - and various angled punches where he moves his head outta centerline.
    but really he never really had a good guard or head movement, so as he got old he had nothing to defend himself.

    • @Sarissa99
      @Sarissa99 11 дней назад

      Very true. Also another very important advantage. His punches were always thrown with minimal wind up, and he ended up reaching the target before the opponent almost always. This also attributed to his kos. The punches were being shot from the chin seemingly effortlessly. He didnt tighten up or push them. Your points in terms of his defense are very accurate imo.

    Kov is a fucking decade past his prime. Why is he even still fighting?

    My man Kovalev had not fought in over two years and is now 41 fighting at cruiserweight to a much younger guy. He should have not taker this dangerous fight at his age against a much younger fighter. Please stay retired after this fight Segey.

      Safar also hadn't fight for almost 1 and a half years. Klitschko was 41 when AJ beat him no one talked about age then. Yes Kovalev isn't in his prime but come on no reason to downplay Safar's victory.

    I was shocked to see Kovalev fighting again. He looks like he has half the punching power and confidence that he used to have.
    I’ve commented before that with the exception of Floyd Mayweather, no fighter has been the same after fighting Canelo. He just demoralizes fighters. JC Chavez used to be that way too.

    People love giving advice on whether a fighter should go or stay. Let him decide his LIFE. Just enjoy the sport. You only live once.

    Kovalev shouldn’t have to fight anymore but if he plans to continue he may as well go after Zurdo Ramirez. He’s big but is hardly able to bully his opponents.

    I wish Kovalev retires before he takes serious damage. He had his time and was a force to be reckoned with . There is no shame in retiring. Everybody retires at a certain point. Do it while you still have your health.

    Tough to watch I really hope he retires. Too many other boxers as of late who have lost their life in the ring or in the aftermath of a fight. Sergey is a Legend and will be a Hall of Famer but what else is there to prove? If money is the issue he needs to try to get a job as a boxing commentator. I'm sure the boxing media would love to have him.

    I don't understand how the Krusher has fallen this far. But alcohol and lack of discipline will end your time at the elite level sooner or later, I guess.

    Time to move on for Kovalev. He should help the new generation with this incredible sport like other greats have. He can prove that. Thanks Champ.

    Much respect for Krusher and his stellar career, but Father Time remains undefeated. Opponents like this would have been taken out within 5 rounds in Kovalev’s prime.
