I am a Gen-Xer who started noticing the general contempt of people from the continent way back in the 90's. Back then I didn't understand it cuz it was totally unprovoked. I wanted to act like it wasn't real or look at my own faults as a reason for the issue. But once I got older and aquired more knowledge and pride in my people (FBA) I really started deeply examining what was going on with our problems relating with one another. I traveled to Accra Ghana with my Dad way back in 2002, we were treated well but I couldn't help but notice how even though we're Black like them they still treated us as complete foriegners and I never got a feeling of kinship or closeness. I've never forgotten that experience, and now I've become a middle age man I now have a completely different outlook on if we should even try to pursue relations with people on the continent at all. Those Ghanaians treated us well because we had tourist dollars, and not because of some idea of us being distant cousins like some of our people still foolishly believe...
So? When Africans travel to America you treat Africans as complete foreigners. Africans don’t get feeling of closeness or kinship from you. So why would you expect it the other way?

I was hurt and upset when I saw what many of these Nigerians, particularly Nigerian men, thought about Black Americans…Especially Black American women!!!! Unfortunately, I overheard some of these Nigerian men denigrating my own Black American women…. My opinion quickly changed after 9 years of working with Nigerians!!!!!

Brother Phil, I 100% agree with you, I'm of African descent, but not culturally African, I eat with a spoon and fork also, not my fingers, unless it's a piece of chicken. I 100% agree with you. I respect other cultures, but wherever I go, I try to maintain my culture and my same standard of living.
I want to move to West Africa but I do not want to live in America in Africa, I don't want American fast food, Am grocery stores, Am shops, etc. I look forward to a slower pace, eating ethnic meals, wearing clothes and items made by locals, shopping in their local markets, etc.

And we reserve the right to step away from everybody and do us when people choose to not be on code. We don’t need to be arguing or asking them why they’re on the type of time they’re on. The diaspora was only a concept to Afro Caribbeans. They are the pioneers of pan-Africanism. And other diaspora groups including them + Brazilians retain far higher levels of it. Which is why no other factions of the diaspora really have these discussions, it’s all love.
But when certain people want to be europeanized in mentality due to 25% European blood, an using suffering as a “gotcha”, its proof you were never apart of the diaspora.
